Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 949: It’s Fine to Pretend Not to Know Each Other
Quentin Sterling hesitated for a moment and said to Wendy Jennings, "Sis, I think these things shouldn’t be kept from Wilder."
Wendy Jennings got anxious upon hearing this and spoke rapidly, "What did that woman do to Wilder?! I feel like Wilder barely escaped death and forgot about her because heaven wants to give him a fresh start! Gwen is a good girl; she’s been tirelessly waiting at the hospital since the incident. You see it yourself. They were supposed to be married, so let them live well together, and they can give me a grandchild sooner."
Quentin Sterling took a deep breath and said, "Ultimately, it depends on Wilder’s own choices. Some things can be kept secret for a while but not forever. And right now, what Wilder might be fixated on isn’t Vanessa, but the missing piece of his memory."
"I know, I’m not saying not to tell him. I’m suggesting we wait until his relationship with Gwen stabilizes, preferably after Gwen is pregnant."
Quentin Sterling still felt it was somewhat inappropriate, and Wendy Jennings pleaded, "You know what Wilder was like before the incident. Aren’t you afraid that once he knows everything, he’ll go back to being self-destructive? If he continues down that path, trouble will come eventually!"
Seeing Quentin Sterling silent, Wendy Jennings continued, "Once his marriage with Gwen stabilizes and they have a child, he’ll be willing to settle down with Gwen. By then, even if he recalls that woman, he should be able to let go of the past."
Although Quentin Sterling felt keeping secrets from Miles Sterling wasn’t good, he was indeed afraid that Miles Sterling would revert to his former self, spending his days lost in drink.
Perhaps now is not the best time after all. Wait a little longer.
At the dining table, Miles Sterling and Quentin Sterling sat facing each other.
Miles Sterling got straight to the point, asking, "Can you tell me about the past?"
"About whom?"
Miles Sterling paused for a moment and replied, "Anyone, just a casual chat."
Quentin Sterling countered, "Have you remembered anything recently?"
Miles Sterling: "A girl named Vanessa."
Miles Sterling’s answer made Quentin Sterling pause while picking up his chopsticks. He looked up at Miles Sterling and heard him ask, "Then tell me about her. You know her too, right?"
Quentin Sterling nodded silently, "Have you met her?"
Miles Sterling didn’t hide it from Quentin Sterling and answered truthfully, "Yes, but she doesn’t seem to want to see me and even claims not to know me. But I think she’s lying."
Quentin Sterling: "How much can you remember about her?"
Miles Sterling shook his head, "Can’t recall specifics, just fragmented images. I feel I knew her before."
Quentin Sterling sighed and said, "Since you can’t remember, it’s better to forget. You’re married now, and Vanessa is living peacefully, so pretending you don’t know her might be for the best." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Hearing Quentin Sterling’s words, Miles Sterling felt a mix of confusion and slight displeasure, "Why say that?"
"Since you can’t recall, pretend nothing ever happened. When you do remember, you might choose not to disturb her."
Miles Sterling grew more bewildered and curious, asking, "What’s my relationship with her? Were we lovers? Did I hurt her? She seems very afraid of me."
Quentin Sterling didn’t know how to explain things to Miles Sterling. He had only recently learned more about their story and didn’t realize how complicated their emotions were before.
