Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 943: She Looks a Lot Like You, Doesn’t She?
Cynthia Ramsey walked into the living room, picked up the clothes scattered on the sofa, and tossed them into the dirty laundry basket, tidying up the coffee table a bit, and emptied the ashtray that was almost overflowing with ash.
"Want to sit for a bit?"
Miles Sterling placed the cane against the wall and, supporting himself on the cabinet, made his way to the sofa and sat down.
Cynthia Ramsey made herself a cup of strong tea to sober up, sat beside Miles Sterling, picked up a pack of cigarettes, handed one to Miles Sterling, and put another in her own mouth.
Miles Sterling looked at Cynthia Ramsey, feeling inside that Cynthia Ramsey probably wasn’t the girl he was searching for.
Though the two had very similar faces; his memories of that girl were only scattered fragments; even that day at the amusement park was just a hurried glance.
But he felt she was a pure and serene girl, not like the seductive woman with heavy makeup and the smell of smoke and alcohol before him.
"You mentioned...about your past?" Cynthia Ramsey lit the cigarette at her lips, puffed out a cloud of smoke, and continued, "I don’t really know much."
Miles Sterling placed the cigarette he held onto the coffee table in front of him, asking, "Didn’t you say we used to be together?"
Cynthia Ramsey laughed dryly, saying, "There have been countless women with you."
Miles Sterling: "What do you mean?"
Cynthia Ramsey looked at Miles Sterling with curious eyes and said, "Do you think if someone forgets past events, their true nature can change too?"
Miles Sterling was puzzled, seeing Cynthia Ramsey take another drag on her cigarette and continue, "A playboy suddenly becomes a good family man?"
Though Cynthia Ramsey didn’t say it outright, Miles Sterling sensed that she was talking about him. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
A playboy...
But in Gwen Grant’s depiction, "playboy" wasn’t associated with him.
Two entirely different portrayals, one of them must be lying to him.
Gwen Grant is his wife, yet the woman before him didn’t seem to have much grievance against him and had no reason to fabricate lies to deceive him.
"Calling you a flirt...isn’t quite right either." Cynthia Ramsey, slightly tipsy, lazily leaned back on the sofa, looking at Miles Sterling, saying, "Because no matter how the women around you change, there’s always one person in your heart."
For some reason, Miles Sterling felt that what Cynthia Ramsey was saying depicted his true past.
"...Who is that person?"
Cynthia Ramsey chuckled thoughtfully at Miles Sterling, replying, "Well, it’s definitely not your current wife."
Miles Sterling was taken aback, probing further, "Haven’t I been with her for many years? Who else could it be if not her whom I love?"
Upon hearing this, Cynthia Ramsey couldn’t help but laugh, "Is that what that woman told you? She sure knows how to fabricate stories. How long have you been married? You hadn’t even met before getting married, you didn’t even attend the wedding, you can still search the news online from back then if you don’t believe me."
Miles Sterling sat in silence, and Gwen Grant sat up and flicked the ash from her cigarette, saying, "But should I be saying this? It might affect your relationship with your wife, right? Don’t go back and tell your wife I told you this, I don’t want to deal with that kind of unreasonable young lady."
After listening to Cynthia Ramsey, Miles Sterling wasn’t concerned about what might happen between him and Gwen Grant, but continued to ask, "Who is that girl? She...looks very much like you, right?"
