Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 865: Kindergarten Kids
When Shane and the others returned to the hotel they were staying at, it was already past one in the morning.
Except for a few young children who had already fallen asleep, everyone else was waiting for their return.
Everyone had some minor injuries, but they were all lively and energetic, which put Audrey Sutton’s mind at ease.
After Franklin Sutton went to the police station to explain everything, he arrived a little later, and after a brief chat with Laura Yates, he said to everyone: "You might as well go back with us tomorrow, to avoid any more trouble."
Flora Lane, looking annoyed, said to Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn: "It’s all because of you two flirting with all sorts of inappropriate women all day long, otherwise, we wouldn’t have come to a place like this."
Morgan Quinn immediately retorted: "Sister-in-law, that’s not fair, we came here after discussing it with you!"
Faye Xavier echoed: "Exactly, just trying to pass the buck."
Phoebe King: "I think we shouldn’t have rescued those two, they don’t seem to have learned their lesson."
Audrey Sutton said earnestly: "Brother Xavier, you two should behave yourselves from now on, don’t get kidnapped again. Next time, you might not be so lucky."
Erin Yates: "When we came back, that silver-haired guy said he was tricked here by a job posting online when he was twenty, and he stayed for almost ten years. If it weren’t for our action this time, he might have spent the rest of his life in that dark bar. You two are lucky, you got out after only two days."
Hearing someone spent ten years in that place, Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn couldn’t help but sigh—they nearly lost it after just two days there.
"By the way, boss, was Ms. Reid caught?"
Franklin Sutton shook his head and said: "Lynn Bishop and the others followed the tunnel and found it led directly to the back mountain. It’s guessed she ran into the mountains; they probably scouted the area beforehand and are familiar with the terrain."
Morgan Quinn: "You’re just going to let her get away?!"
Franklin Sutton: "The city police have taken over, and they’ll be searching the mountains. If there’s no news, a wanted order will surely be issued. It wasn’t just Ms. Reid who got away, but we’ve captured more people; someone will eventually spill something."
Faye Xavier: "We can’t let them go! And those other women too! We’ll round them all up then."
Erin Yates rolled her eyes: "You two sure do know how to talk big."
Franklin Sutton: "Okay, it’s getting late, everyone should rest. We’ll head back to Rivia first thing in the morning."
Laura Yates quietly asked Franklin Sutton: "Do you still have to go back to the station? Your eyes are bloodshot, you should get some rest too."
Franklin Sutton pulled Laura Yates into his arms, smiling: "The mission’s done, of course, I’ll take a good rest, I’m not going anywhere tonight, just staying with you and the kids."
Laura Yates smiled warmly, hugging Franklin Sutton’s arm: "Next time, don’t hide things from me, we were so close, and you didn’t even come to see me."
Franklin Sutton gently rubbed Laura Yates’s head: "I didn’t want you to worry about me."
Norman Sutton, with a look of disdain, broke their tender moment: "Publicly displaying affection, how inappropriate, go to your room!"
Franklin Sutton gave Norman Sutton a glare, Laura Yates chuckled and pulled Franklin Sutton up: "Let’s go, take a hot shower and get a good night’s sleep."
Phoebe King couldn’t help but teasingly laugh: "The thrill of a short separation, might not be easy to fall asleep, right?"
Laura Yates: "Phoebe!"
Phoebe King: "Okay, okay, go do your thing, we’re going to bed too, we’re all exhausted,"
With that, Phoebe King yawned and got up, linking arms with Audrey Sutton as they walked to their room.
Seeing his wife leave, Shane picked up his jacket from the back of the chair and followed.
Everyone else slowly got up and returned to their rooms.
Norman Sutton deliberately lingered, following behind Lana Holloway.
When Lana Holloway was about to unlock the door, seeing Norman Sutton standing by her door, her movements paused and she asked: "What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to change out of your clothes?"
Norman Sutton made an excuse: "My hand’s injured, come help me take off the wig."
Lana Holloway looked at Norman Sutton’s outstretched hand. Indeed, there was a wound in his palm.
She thought that Barry Barrett was probably still in the shower, and if she went quickly, she could come back without being discovered.
"Come on, open the door, I need to rest after tidying up."
Norman Sutton smiled happily and immediately turned to head to his room.
Lana Holloway looked at his tattered skirt and the leg exposed, but couldn’t suppress a smile. Yet she dared not laugh out loud; otherwise, Norman Sutton would surely argue with her if he heard.
Lana Holloway helped Norman Sutton take off the wig and tidied up the mess in the room, while Norman Sutton, taking advantage, wanted Lana Holloway to help him shower.
After a shy and angry glare from Lana Holloway, he chuckled and gave up: "I’ll shower and then sleep; you should rest too, I’ll call you in the morning."
Lana Holloway nodded, not forgetting to nag as she left: "Take care of your things too, clothes are everywhere."
"Okay, I’ll tidy up in a bit."
"I’m going now, be careful not to wet your wound when you shower."
Norman Sutton teased: "If you’re so worried, come shower me."
Lana Holloway gave him a glare and left, closing the door.
The corridor was already empty; after closing her room door, Lana Holloway returned to her room.
Upon entering, she heard the sound of a game from the phone, seeing the dimly lit room, only the phone screen near the bedside was glowing.
"Oh, young couple on fire, back so soon? I thought you might be alone tonight."
Lana Holloway’s motion of closing the door paused, and she shot Barry Barrett a glance, turning on the entrance light: "What nonsense are you talking, he got hurt, I just helped him take off the wig."
Barry Barrett chuckled: "Why don’t you say you were discussing dreams under the covers?"
Lana Holloway, both shy and anxious, stressed: "I’m telling the truth!"
"Alright, alright, it’s inevitable, stop being shy, when you go back, you’ll have your wedding feast."
Lana Holloway climbed under the covers, mumbling: "There’s no proposal, what wedding."
Barry Barrett smirked, and, fearing another tease, Lana Holloway quickly said: "Hurry up and sleep, still playing games."
"I was waiting for you, one more round and I’ll sleep. So, how far have you two developed?"
Lana Holloway hid under the covers, revealing half her head, murmuring: "Developed how?"
Barry Barrett: "Seeing you like this, you haven’t done it, kissed yet?"
"Oh, Bear!"
"Haven’t even kissed? You just hold hands? Kindergarteners?"
Lana Holloway, clutching the blanket, turned her back: "Not talking to you anymore, I’m sleeping!"
