Chapter 39: Thus, The Bunny Rode Away

The banquet hall no longer felt elegant. The music still played. People still laughed. Crystal chandeliers still glowed above the polished marble floor. But for Aiden everything had changed. "Toma?" His eyes scanned the crowd again.

Then again.

Still nowhere.

A strange uneasiness crept into his chest.

Moments earlier she had been nearby. He clearly remembered seeing her walking toward the balcony side after speaking with several guests. But now she was gone.

Aiden frowned slightly and checked his phone. No messages and no calls. "...Weird."

At first, he tried remaining calm. "Maybe she went outside for air. Maybe she was speaking with someone important. Maybe she simply didn’t hear her phone."

But then....

Ten more minutes passed.

And the uncomfortable feeling only grew stronger. Aiden immediately walked toward the balcony section.

His footsteps became faster. His expression sharper.

Several guests greeted him while passing by. "Mr. Sullivan! Excellent speech tonight! The event is amazing...."

Aiden barely responded. "Excuse me."

His eyes narrowed. A flower pot had fallen sideways near the corner of balcony. Soil scattered across the ground. "...What?"

Nearby a faint scratch mark stretched across the floor as if someone had been dragged slightly.

Aiden’s expression darkened immediately. "No..." His heartbeat increased. Then he saw something else. A small broken silver bracelet charm. He recognized it instantly. "Toma..."

The atmosphere around him changed completely. His fingers clenched tightly around the broken charm. Anger and fear both mixed together on his mind.

Then Aiden turned sharply. "Security!"

Several staff members hurried toward him immediately. "Yes sir?"

"Seal the exits."

The employees froze slightly. "Sir...?"

"I said seal every damn exit NOW!" The intensity in his voice shocked everyone nearby.

The cheerful banquet atmosphere suddenly became tense.

"Yes sir!" The guards immediately moved.

Aiden grabbed another employee. "Check every security camera from the last twenty minutes."

"Find where Toma went. NOW."

Meanwhile....

Guests began whispering nervously. "What happened?" "Is something wrong?" "Did an incident occur?"

Aiden ignored all of them completely. He immediately dialed someone. The phone connected quickly.

"Chief Han speaking."

"I need police support immediately. A possible kidnapping."

The officer’s tone instantly changed. "...Who?"

Aiden answered without hesitation. "Toma."

"We’re mobilizing units now."

Aiden ended the call immediately. His breathing had become heavier.

Inside his mind, memories flashed repeatedly. The previous kidnapping incident, the threats, Kuruda’s words earlier tonight.

"Perhaps your company is more important than your precious friend."

Aiden’s eyes widened slightly. "...That bastard." His blood boiled instantly. He immediately stormed toward another hallway.

At the same time,

Kuruda stood calmly near a group of businessmen sipping wine peacefully like nothing had happened.

Aiden walked directly toward him.

The atmosphere nearby became suffocating instantly.

Kuruda noticed him approaching.

Then smiled slightly. "...Mr. Sullivan."

Aiden stopped directly before him. "Where is she?"

Kuruda raised an eyebrow calmly. "...Excuse me?"

"Toma! Where is she?" Aiden’s voice dropped lower. "Where the hell is she?"

Several nearby businessmen awkwardly stepped away sensing danger.

Kuruda slowly lowered his glass. "You seem emotional tonight."

Aiden suddenly grabbed his collar aggressively.

Gasps echoed nearby.

"I swear to God if this is your doing..."

Kuruda smiled faintly despite being grabbed. "You have no proof."

"That answer alone already tells me enough."

Kuruda leaned slightly closer. "Careful. People are watching."

Aiden’s grip tightened harder. "You think I care?"

Security immediately rushed toward them nervously. "Sir! Please calm down!"

Kuruda slowly removed Aiden’s hand from his suit. Then adjusted his collar casually. "You really should control your temper better."

Aiden’s eyes burned with fury.

Kuruda simply smirked slightly before walking away.

But before leaving he quietly said, "Some people disappear very easily in this city."

Aiden froze. Then instantly turned again. "FIND HIM!"

Security teams immediately followed Kuruda discreetly.

But the older man had already blended into the crowd smoothly.

Meanwhile....

Police vehicles began arriving outside Grand Aurora Hall. Blue and red lights reflected across the luxurious building walls.

Guests became even more uneasy now.

Inside the control room....

Security footage played rapidly across multiple screens. Aiden stood behind the staff intensely watching everything. "Toma entering balcony corridor...Timestamp 10:42 PM..."

The footage continued.

Then...

Static suddenly distorted the screen.

BZzzzzzt.

The image glitched heavily.

Aiden frowned. "What the hell happened?"

The technician looked nervous. "Sir... camera feed cut out for nearly forty seconds."

"Can you recover it?"

"We’re trying."

The footage returned.

But Toma was gone.

Only shadows remained visible.

Aiden slammed his fist against the desk. "DAMMIT!"

The workers flinched. One officer approached carefully. "Mr. Sullivan."

Aiden turned immediately.

"We found tire marks outside the back service road....And signs of forced movement."

His chest tightened. "...Kidnapping."

The officer nodded slowly. "We believe so."

For a brief moment Aiden went silent. Then he looked up again. Cold determination filled his eyes now. "No matter who did this...I’ll destroy them."

The officers exchanged glances.

Even they could feel it. The atmosphere around Aiden had become terrifying. Not emotional anymore. It was dangerously focused.

One officer asked carefully: "Do you suspect anyone specifically?"

Aiden answered instantly. "Mirai Corporation. Kuruda."

The officer frowned slightly. "That’s a serious accusation."

"I know." Aiden turned away slowly. "But I also know that bastard threatened me earlier tonight."

He remembered every word clearly now. Kuruda said to him at that time, "Perhaps your company is more important than your precious friend."

His jaw tightened. "...He planned this."

Meanwhile outside the banquet hall Police cars spread throughout nearby districts. Road checkpoints activated. Search teams mobilized.

And through all of it Aiden personally joined the search.

One officer tried stopping him. "Sir, it may be safer if you remain here."

Aiden coldly replied: "No. Toma disappeared because of people targeting me. So I’m going."

The officer couldn’t argue further soon a black luxury vehicle sped through the wet city roads.

Inside Aiden sat silently beside Chief Han.

Streetlights reflected across the windows repeatedly.

The chief looked toward him briefly. "You care about her deeply."

Aiden remained silent for several seconds. Then quietly answered: "...She’s important." Not just important, very important. Even he had begun realizing that now.

Another officer suddenly spoke through radio communication.

[Possible suspicious van spotted near East District industrial roads.]

Aiden’s eyes sharpened immediately. "Location?"

Coordinates were transmitted instantly.

The driver accelerated harder.

TIRES SCREECHED.

The destroyed road remained covered with broken concrete, scattered crowbars, damaged vans, and unconscious gangsters lying everywhere. Cold wind passed through the street.

Mr. Nobody stood there breathing heavily.

"Huff..."

"Huff..."

The armor had already vanished. Only the bunny helmet remained on his head. His body still hurt badly from the fight with Anderson.

Several system windows floated before his eyes.

[Battle Complete]

[Large EXP Reward Granted]

[Level Increased]

[HP Slowly Recovering]

[Minor Internal Injuries Detected]

Nobody looked upward tiredly. "...Yeah yeah. At least I’m alive."

Nearby Toma slowly walked toward him carefully.

For a moment, neither spoke.

Then she finally asked quietly,"...Are you okay?"

Nobody looked toward her. "...Yeah. Well... mostly." He stretched one shoulder slightly before immediately regretting it. "OW.... okay maybe not fully."

Toma let out a small laugh despite everything. "You’re injured."

"Nah. Just emotionally." He replied.

"What?" Toma said.

"Nothing." He replied.

Toma looked at him quietly for another moment. Then her expression softened. "...You’re very strong."

Nobody blinked beneath the helmet. "...Huh?"

"You saved me again." Her voice sounded sincere this time. "Thank you."

Nobody awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "Well...Couldn’t exactly let you get kidnapped twice."

Toma smiled faintly. Even through the strange helmet she could somehow feel his awkwardness.

Then suddenly....

WEEEEEOOOOOO

WEEEEEOOOOOO

Sirens echoed from nearby roads. Bright red and blue lights reflected across nearby buildings. Police vehicles. There were many of them.

Nobody immediately turned his head. "...Ah.That was fast."

More headlights approached rapidly. Several black vehicles stopped nearby sharply.

TIRES SCREECHED.

Police officers quickly stepped out securing the area.

Then...

One familiar figure rushed out from the front car.

"Aiden!" Toma’s eyes widened immediately.

Aiden ran directly toward her without stopping.

The moment he reached her,"Are you okay?!" His breathing sounded uneven. "Did they hurt you? Toma answer me."

Toma looked slightly surprised seeing him panicking. "...I’m okay, Aidi"

Aiden quickly checked her arms and shoulders anxiously. "You’re sure?"

"Yes."

Relief visibly crossed his face. His shoulders slightly relaxed.

Meanwhile a few meters away....

Mr. Nobody quietly stepped backward. "...Welp.My work here is done." He slowly moved toward his glossy red bike which appeared from his system window. The bunny helmet visor reflected under the police lights.

Toma noticed him immediately. "...Wait."

But Nobody simply gave a small two-finger salute casually. Then he got onto the bike.

VRRRRMMMM.

The engine roared loudly.

Aiden finally noticed the mysterious bunny-helmet figure. "...Him?"

Toma nodded quickly. "He’s the one who saved me."

Aiden narrowed his eyes slightly.

The figure looked strangely familiar somehow.

Before Aiden could approach....

FWOOOOOSH.

Smoke suddenly spread around the bike. The red motorcycle accelerated instantly. Sliding sharply across the road. Then vanished into the night between the streets. Only smoke remained behind.

Several officers looked stunned. "...Who was that guy?"

"No idea."

Meanwhile,

Toma stared quietly toward the direction he disappeared. For some reason, she felt slightly disappointed watching him leave.

Aiden noticed her expression briefly. Then asked again,"...Who was he?"

Toma slowly looked back at him. "...You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you."

Aiden frowned slightly. "Toma. I’m serious."

She hesitated briefly. Then quietly answered: "...It was the bunny helmet guy from my first kidnapping."

Aiden froze. "...What?"

"The same person who saved me last time when I was kidnapped." Toma said.

Rain continued falling lightly around them. Police lights flashed endlessly across the wet roads.

And somewhere far away Mr. Nobody rode through the city streets alone beneath the night sky.

"...Man...Today was absolute chaos...."
