"What do you mean by ’okay’?" Juliana Lancaster anxiously stood up, her gaze following her daughter as she took off her coat and hung it up before walking to the kitchen to pour a glass of water. Juliana followed her.

This was her daughter’s first time meeting the family, and as her mother, Juliana was very concerned about what the in-laws thought of her daughter.

"Mom, it’s just like that," Sophia Hamilton said dismissively while pouring herself a glass of water. She couldn’t quite figure out Evander Lancaster’s mother’s attitude—she seemed polite but not particularly warm. Sophia wasn’t sure if wealthy families all entertained guests this way.

After drinking half a glass of water, Sophia turned around and saw her mother standing at the kitchen door, watching her. Sophia scratched her forehead awkwardly and said, "I’m tired, I want to take a nap." With that, she headed to her bedroom.

Watching her daughter’s back, Juliana Lancaster frowned in suspicion. Could it be... that the in-laws weren’t satisfied with her daughter?

That shouldn’t be the case—her daughter was beautiful, had a good job, so what could the in-laws find unsatisfactory...

Before dinner, Evander Lancaster visited again. He had brought plenty of ingredients when he picked up Sophia that morning, so he was there to enjoy the meal and, incidentally, to whisk Sophia away.

He actively helped Juliana Lancaster with the vegetables, and when his potential mother-in-law used imported Wagyu beef from the supermarket to stew with potatoes, he nodded repeatedly and praised it, saying, "Delicious." He also mentioned that his mother was very pleased with Sophia.

After dinner, he stayed to chat with Juliana Lancaster for a while and then suggested taking Sophia out to the movies. With such a helpful and pleasant son-in-law, Juliana naturally had no objections, even though she could tell her daughter wasn’t too willing—she still pushed her out the door.

As Evander Lancaster led her downstairs, Sophia Hamilton felt increasingly downcast. She glanced at the spirited man and complained unhappily,

"You’re so unscrupulous, doing everything you can to win my mom over. Now she’s on your side!"

Evander Lancaster turned and gently tapped Sophia’s nose with a smile, "You should be happy that I’m winning over our mom. Why the long face?"

"Shameless, she’s not your mom," Sophia said, brushing off Evander’s hand. Perhaps because she’d just met his parents today, she was visibly shy when saying this.

"Right, not my mom—she’s my esteemed mother-in-law," Evander replied with a hearty laugh, wrapping his arm around her as they walked to his luxurious car.

The black Bentley drove out of the neighborhood and merged into the traffic. Having been "forced" into a relationship, Sophia could only go along with it.

Watching the road ahead, she casually asked, "Where are we going to watch the movie?"

Though not very willing, it was her first time watching a movie with the opposite sex, so she was a bit nervous and inexplicably excited.

Evander Lancaster glanced over, his eyes filled with emotion. He said mysteriously, "You’ll know when we get there."

Sophia turned to look at him, scoffing discontentedly, "What movie are we watching? You should at least tell me that in advance. Romance, horror, anything is fine, as long as it’s not one of those so-called American blockbusters!" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Evander gave another mysterious smile. Mentioning the upcoming movie, his eyebrows arched with excitement, "You’ll know when it’s playing!"

"Hmph, acting all mysterious!" Sophia scoffed disdainfully, "Let me make it clear, I don’t like American blockbusters with all the fighting and killing and the same old thing!"

Evander, driving the car, agreed with a smile, "We won’t watch any action flicks, just pure love stories."

"That’s more like it!" Sophia turned back around. The innocent young girl had no idea what "pure love" movies actually meant.
