Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1162 - 1157: There Are Plenty Who’ve Embarrassed the Lancaster Family
After lunch, a few people sat on the sofa and chatted for a while before Evander Lancaster got up to leave. He could see Sophia Hamilton’s unease in front of his family, and besides, bringing her back to meet the parents was just a formality, simply to let Sophia know he was serious.
Seeing the two get up, Violet Zimmerman also spoke up, "Evander, let the driver take Sophia back, you stay here, I have something to say to you."
Evander Lancaster understood his mother’s intention, as it was all within expectations. He didn’t refuse and nodded, "Okay, I’ll send her out."
It seemed that Violet Zimmerman had earlier arrangements. As the two walked out of the small villa, the driver’s car was already waiting on the road in front. Before getting in the car, Evander Lancaster helped Sophia Hamilton smooth her bangs and said, "You go back first, I’ll come over to pick you up tonight."
In a moment of inexplicable impulse, Sophia Hamilton nodded and said "Mm."
Watching the sedan drive away, Evander Lancaster finally turned back, entered the door, and said while taking off his cotton jacket, "Alright, let’s hear it, what instructions do you have?"
Seeing her son’s nonchalant manner, Violet Zimmerman placed the teacup in her hand heavily on the coffee table and said reproachfully, "What kind of attitude is this?"
"Attitude?" Evander Lancaster handed his cotton coat to the maid, sneering as he walked over, "Mom, did I misunderstand? Didn’t you keep me here to discuss Sophia’s matter?"
"Mom, speak nicely, Evander didn’t say anything wrong." Robert Lancaster advised from the side, then glanced at his wife, who understood and quickly got up saying, "I’ll go upstairs to check if the baby is awake."
Violet Zimmerman took a breath, clearly suppressing her displeasure, and picked up the tea again, speaking in a calm tone.
"Evander, I heard from your uncle about this girl’s family background. You should be clear in your heart that our Lancaster Family would never let a girl with such family background through the door."
Evander Lancaster had long known this would be the result, so after walking over he turned around and sat down on the sofa, in a nonchalant manner, spreading his hands indifferently, "I know, that’s why I never intended to let her cross the Lancaster Family’s threshold."
"What do you mean?" Violet Zimmerman suddenly turned her head to look at her son.
Evander Lancaster spread his hands again, exaggeratedly smacking his lips, saying, "Isn’t the meaning obvious? After we get married, we’ll live in an apartment and won’t move back to be neighbors with you."
Violet Zimmerman...
Placed the teacup heavily on the coffee table and severely questioned, "Evander! Do you know what you’re saying? Our Lancaster Family is different from other families, generation after generation, we’ve all lived together. For now, we allow you to live outside because you’re not settled down yet, but once you are, you must move back in! It’s an ancestral rule!"
"Rule?" Evander Lancaster repeated with a sneer, lazily leaning on the sofa, dismissively saying, "Rules are static, people are dynamic. I have the right to choose where I feel comfortable to live!"
"You!" Violet Zimmerman was quite infuriated. In the Lancaster Family, no matter who might be displeased with her privately, no one dared to confront her face-to-face like this, except her son. Since high school, he has been rebellious; other kids have a limited rebellious phase, but him, he’s been like this for so many years.
"Evander, your mom is just thinking for your good." Joseph Lancaster chimed in from the side, initially to soothe Violet Zimmerman, but still wanted to excuse himself in front of his "nephew."
"Not mentioning Sophia Hamilton’s family background, Lancaster Family’s reputation in T City is well-known. Once married here she inevitably has to attend some banquets. This girl’s petty behavior may bring shame to our Lancaster Family."
"Ha, there are plenty who’ve brought shame to the Lancaster Family!" As soon as Joseph Lancaster finished speaking, Evander Lancaster interjected with a sarcastic remark.
