Chapter 1044

A sundering wave of lightning energy burst out of the sword with force toward Lucien, who stared at it with a conflicted expression on his face.

But the next second, the earth moved upward and soon formed a huge dome over Lucien just in time as the wave of energy roared out, crashing into the structure with bone-rattling force.

The strength behind the slash managed to move the dome backward a few steps.

Quickly sinking into his own shadow, Kael appeared somewhere else, directly beside his allies as he watched the dome cracking apart to reveal Lucien standing there with a calm gaze.

"Even though you were literally termed as a demon, why do I feel like you are still weak? You haven’t been able to—"

CRACK—! CRASH—!

A humongous pillar of lightning screamed downward with full force that seemed to make the air give way for it.

Lucien immediately countered as the earth rose up, and soon, a gigantic pillar burst forward.

Within a blink, they collided mid-air with earth-splitting force as a massive shockwave blasted out in all directions.

The ground trembled from the force of the blow of the two elements.

"Go."

Immediately, Alba and Mada darted forward with all the speed they could muster.

Ki swirled around their feet, boosting their momentum to immense heights.

They reached Lucien, bursting out of the smoke with a swing of their swords from both ends.

The next second, the ground trembled and moved.

Soon enough, huge hands rose up and began clashing with each of the warriors.

They deflected and punched forward, but vaulting into the air for a moment, the duo unleashed ki slashes that tore forward.

However, a wall of earth rose in place, absorbing the impact of the slashes.

Flames roared to life as a dozen fireballs howled forward with full speed.

Balls of water were fired out by Jay, which collided with the flames.

Two dozen balls of water against a dozen fireballs, and still, it wasn’t able to totally quench the heat when a pillar of flames roared out and was fired at Kael, who stood a few meters away.

Without flinching, the mage simply sunk into the shadows, vanishing into their depths just in time as the pillar tore through the terrain where he stood. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

A deep hollow yawned open immediately, with the earth becoming blackened.

Small pellets of flames were thrown out.

Alba and Mada landed on the earthen hands and quickly lunged forward with all their might, running atop the constructs.

New ones sprouted from the ground, racing toward them with full speed.

Vaulting upward for a moment, ki wrapped around Alba as her brown eyes slanted for a second, and then with a loud crash, she spun around like a powerful arrow.

A red glow appeared all around her body as she plowed into the earthen hands, giving Mada enough space to pounce forward with visual ki wrapping around his swords for a moment.

He was about to lash forth when his eyes rolled to the side to catch a funnel of flames roaring his way.

Quickly snapping his hand to the side, a yellow slash of water burst forth, colliding with the fireball mid-air.

A fist of earth then shot forward with rapid velocity, bashing into Mada’s side with the force of a siege ram.

The descendant’s eyes widened in pain as his body was blasted away like a discarded doll.

Crashing into the ground, he tumbled over the rough, uneven surface for a few moments.

Alba landed in a roll atop the hands and proceeded to pounce forward with explosive force, so intense that even the earthen constructs were forced to crack under her weight.

Within a jiffy, she was before the mage, and her sword swiped forward, reaching for the man’s neck.

Earth rose in place about to block the slash when she suddenly let go of the sword, which free-fell for a second, only for her to swing her foot from below, bashing it into the pommel and sending it rocketing toward Lucien’s head like a deadly arrow.

The man’s heart skipped a beat for a second as he stared at the sword speeding his way.

But even with that, his instincts kicked in.

Years of being the Principal of Lunaria Academy and battling lots of invasions and beasts—years of being Upper Zodiac Two—wasn’t for naught.

"Breakthrough."

He was forced to use his breakthrough as a violent blast of wind burst out, smashing the sword and Alba away with fierce intensity.

The man’s hair was supposed to float above his shoulders, if it wasn’t for the fact that it was tied in a ponytail.

His eyes glowed a bright white cadence as he was beginning to undergo changes, when Kael smiled.

"Lightning magic," Kael muttered as his element erupted around his hand.

It crackled with so much intensity that it seemed like he was holding onto a mini-sun in his grasp.

It was so crazy bright that even those who were fighting elsewhere had to turn to look in his direction.

The sphere of lightning was like a beacon that attracted all attention, pausing the battlefield for a second as they all wondered what Kael was doing.

"Hollow Blue," Kael uttered with such chilling calmness that it could make one’s skin crawl.

With a haul of his hand, the massive lightning sphere screamed forward with breakneck speed.

The sparks flying from the ball of lightning, which was as big as a small planet, ripped the earth to shreds as it flew by.

Not cracks, but massive craters lined the ground as it flew by.

Opening his eyes to see what was heading his way, Lucien wasted no time as the whole earth rose in place.

Lightning was weak against earth, yet something was still telling him that this wouldn’t be enough.

So he began leaping backward while controlling the earth to rise in his previous place, and at the same time, trying to complete his breakthrough, which was paused at the moment.

In the process of his panic, more than fifty sturdy earth walls rose up, allowing him to finally release a breath of relief.

Unfortunately, within a second, the attack from Kael plowed into the raised walls with thunderous bangs.

No explosion. No detonation.

It simply ripped through them all like they were mere parchments, leaving Lucien with his gaze sharpened confusedly.
