Chapter 1139: Chapter 1148: Let’s See How You Answer!

At eight in the evening, Shi Aoju received a call from Qin Shaobai.

"Tonight I want to meet Bei Mo. Lend me ten assassins, have them lurk near Warehouse 17 at the West City Pier."

"What happened?" Shi Aoju asked.

"Just a confrontation between one man and another, nothing major." Qin Shaobai laughed, seeming quite composed.

"Have you thought it through?" Shi Aoju probably already guessed what was happening.

"What’s there to think about?" Qin Shaobai retorted, "If another man poses a threat to you and might harm Su Jiuyi at any moment, what would you do?"

"Kill." The word slipped out, affirming Shi Aoju’s heart. He could allow others to harm him, but he would never permit anyone to hurt his woman in the slightest.

If someone touched his beloved, he would spare no means to make the other pay.

Shi Aoju stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing over the bustling city, moonlight shining on him, giving him a charming sheen.

Su Jiuyi had been standing outside for a while, holding a thermos container filled with freshly boiled chicken soup.

Though she knew eating oily food at night isn’t good for one’s health, when she heard Shi Aoju say he wanted soup in the afternoon, she resolved to prepare it before he went to sleep.

When she arrived, she happened to hear Shi Aoju on the phone, so she waited outside until he finished the call. Only then did she raise her hand and knock on the door.

"Come in," Shi Aoju said without turning his head.

Actually, he had noticed her outside long before during the call with Qin Shaobai, though she was unaware.

Su Jiuyi pushed the door open, closing it behind her, carrying the thermos to the small dining table by the bed, opening the lid like a housewife, saying, "The chicken soup is ready, come and have some."

Shi Aoju responded with a hum, turning back to the bedside to sit, looking at Su Jiuyi with amusement, waiting for her to serve the chicken soup.

"Is there something on my face?" Su Jiuyi felt a bit uncomfortable with his gaze, so she lifted her head to ask.

"Nothing on your face," he said, "but there is in your eyes."

"Really?" Su Jiuyi thought he was serious and put down the thermos, intending to rub her eyes.

But before her hand could reach her eyes, Shi Aoju grabbed her, pulling her into his arms, forcing her to sit on his lap.

Though they had hugged, kissed, and even slept together, this kind of intimate encounter still made Su Jiuyi blush, her heart racing as if she couldn’t breathe.

Sensing her stiffness, Shi Aoju wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, his lips curved in a thin smile as he looked at her for a moment before leaning to whisper in her ear, "I meant you have me in your eyes."

"You’re fooling me again!" Looking at his annoyingly handsome face, Su Jiuyi pouted, "You seem to enjoy teasing me lately."

"I’m just stating the truth, there really was something in your eyes just now." Shi Aoju freed a hand from her waist to play with her hair, his seductive lips remained curved, appearing to be in high spirits.

"Are you a thing?" Su Jiuyi asked, her bright eyes fixed on him. Thinking: let’s see how you answer!
