Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along
Chapter 317: "We’ll Get Our Marriage License on October 18th
The wedding dress was displayed on an elegant wooden mannequin.
The dress was pure white. At first glance, the design seemed simple, but the lace that extended from the bodice to the sleeves was so delicate and uniform it was clearly hand-woven.
The heavy skirt of the dress cascaded in layers.
Rachel Lancaster shifted the glass case slightly.
The light in the room fell upon the skirt, which began to twinkle with countless tiny specks of light, like a river of stars.
"This skirt has..."
Rory Linden wanted to ask, but she didn’t know how to describe it.
Rachel Lancaster immediately understood and explained, "We hand-set tens of thousands of high-purity diamonds into the skirt. Because the dress itself is so substantial, they aren’t obvious when it’s still. But when you move, as long as there’s light, it will be absolutely dazzling."
Rory Linden got up and walked over to the wedding dress.
It was just as Rachel had said.
At first glance, the wedding dress wasn’t particularly eye-catching.
You had to look closely to appreciate the incredible detail.
"This dress went through many revisions. Mr. Harrison offered quite a few suggestions, and he even went with my brother several times..."
Rachel Lancaster trailed off, falling silent the moment she saw Sean Harrison’s expression.
Rory Linden looked over. "Went where?"
Rachel glanced at Sean Harrison and told the truth. "To several runway shows."
Sean Harrison hadn’t intended for Rory to find out.
But now that it was out in the open, he didn’t deny it.
Rory Linden examined the wedding dress in front of her one more time, then turned to him and said, "I love it."
Afterward, Rachel Lancaster took Rory Linden to try on the wedding dress.
They both thought the dress might not fit perfectly and were prepared for alterations.
In the fitting room, Rory put on the substantial wedding dress.
When it was time to zip it up, she purposely took a deep breath.
And because of that, the zipper slid up smoothly.
"Wow, I can’t believe how perfectly it fits!" Rachel exclaimed, looking at Rory in the mirror. "You’ve kept your figure so well all these years. Do you have any secrets?"
Rory looked at her and gave a wry smile. "The secret is probably just working a lot of night shifts."
’As a doctor, you don’t just need specialized knowledge; you also have to be in top physical condition.’
’Otherwise, how could you handle ten-hour surgeries and a seemingly endless schedule of night shifts?’
Rachel Lancaster bent down and carefully arranged the skirt again. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
She looked up, giving Rory an appreciative once-over. Then she made an "OK" sign and whispered, "Okay, you’re all set. Let’s show Mr. Harrison."
Rory Linden nodded.
Rachel Lancaster pressed a button on the remote control.
The heavy curtains of the fitting room slowly parted.
Sean Harrison stood there. He had imagined countless times what Rory would look like in a wedding dress.
’She would be the most beautiful.’
But as he stood there, he realized that all his fantasies couldn’t hold a candle to the vision before him.
It was only at this moment that it truly felt real.
’They were really getting married, one step at a time.’
-
It was already past four in the afternoon by the time they finished the wedding dress fitting.
It was only when Rory Linden picked up her phone that she noticed two missed calls from Sherry Walsh.
She called her back.
"Rory! Are you busy today? Do you have surgery tonight? Can you get off work on time?"
Sherry Walsh’s lively voice came through the phone.
You could easily tell she was in a great mood.
"I took the day off," Rory said. "What’s up?"
"You took the day off? Are you in Veridia, then?"
Sherry first confirmed her location.
After getting an affirmative answer, she announced her purpose. "I’m off the market! Let’s go out for dinner and celebrate!"
"No problem, I’m free tonight."
Rory Linden immediately agreed.
’Sherry had had crushes before.’
’But this was the first time she had ever officially announced she was in a relationship.’
’I have to be there to celebrate with her.’
"Where are you now? Do you need me to pick you up?" Sherry asked, then answered her own question. "No, wait. You’re with Sean Harrison. He definitely has a car to drop you off. I’ll send you the restaurant’s address in a bit."
After the call ended, Rory relayed the conversation to Sean Harrison. "Sorry, looks like you might have to have dinner by yourself."
Sean Harrison didn’t mind. "It’s fine. Just tell me when you’re done eating, and I’ll come pick you up."
Sherry’s message came quickly.
The restaurant was a hot pot place.
Since it was a get-together for the two of them, they naturally chose a place they both liked.
After they had ordered, Sherry finally asked, "Aren’t you even going to ask who my boyfriend is? Or if you know him?"
Rory rested her chin in her hand and grinned. "Who could it possibly be? It’s such a tough one to guess."
Sherry played along. "You’re going to be so surprised when I tell you. It’s Noah Sterling."
"Lawyer Sterling? I really never would have guessed it was him..."
"Hahaha! Okay, okay, I’ll stop messing around!"
Rory was still playing along, but Sherry was the first one to break.
She told her the whole story about what happened at the resort.
Rory couldn’t help but be surprised after hearing the story.
’She really hadn’t expected Sherry and Noah’s relationship to start like that.’
Sherry continued,
"The biggest coincidence is, my dad and he have been meeting a lot recently because of a case. When I told my dad we were serious and planning to get married, he didn’t believe me!"
"So then, I had my parents meet him."
"I thought it would be really awkward, but once they realized the whole previous incident was just a misunderstanding, they actually started talking about weddings!"
Rory couldn’t help her curiosity. "Talking about weddings so soon?"
Sherry nodded. "Actually, my father has always had a good impression of Noah. Once he knew he wasn’t a two-timer, he naturally decided he was the perfect man for me."
Rory asked, "What does your mother think?"
Sherry replied, "My mom? Of course, she’s absolutely thrilled!"
"That’s so great."
Rory Linden murmured to herself.
In Sherry, she saw what it was like for a child from a healthy, loving family to enter into marriage.
Sherry said happily, "Oh, right, Noah and I have already decided. We’re not having a big ceremony. We’re just going to travel and get married."
Rory: "Getting married while you travel?"
"Yep, we’ve already planned it. We’ll get our work sorted out this year, and next year we’ll free up about three to six months to travel!"
Sherry looked at Rory. "By the way, when are you and Sean Harrison getting married?"
"Us?" Rory shook her head. "We haven’t set a date yet."
’They had just had their wedding dress fitting today.’
’But they still hadn’t discussed an actual date for the wedding.’
"It’s fine! No matter when you get married, I’ll be your bridesmaid!" Sherry thought for a moment. "I don’t think there’s any rule that says a married woman can’t be a bridesmaid."
The two of them chatted as they ate.
After dinner, they strolled through the nearby shops to walk off their meal.
By the time Sean Harrison drove over to pick up Rory, it was already nine o’clock.
When Sherry Walsh saw Sean Harrison, she immediately asked, "President Harrison, when are you planning to marry our Rory? If you don’t hurry up and marry her, I’m going to have to start setting her up with other guys."
Rory, completely surprised, hadn’t expected Sherry to say something like that.
Sean Harrison took her hand in his and replied earnestly, "We’ll let you know as soon as we’ve decided."
"Hurry up! You’ve already kept Rory waiting for so long. She can’t wait anymore!"
With that one last piece of advice, Sherry turned and walked to her car.
The two of them watched Sherry get into her car before getting into their own.
Sean Harrison leaned over and fastened her seatbelt for her.
He started the car.
At night, the warm orange light from the roadside lamps spilled into the car.
Only then did Sean Harrison speak. "Let’s register our marriage on October 18th, and hold the wedding ceremony on October 21st. Is that okay?"
Rory was taken aback.
’October 18th.’
’That’s my birthday.’
