Chapter 308: Chapter 45: Ocean Giant Beast, the Kraken

Thanks to his "Multi-shot Arrow," which was practically a form of Cheating, and the terrifying power of the Divine Chosen Legion—nearly all of whom were Extraordinary Soldiers—Qin Feng steamrolled his way through the Sakura Country with ease.

Immediately after, he led his grand army onward, crushing all resistance. He conquered one island kingdom after another, advancing at a pace at least a dozen times faster than the army Gulad had dispatched in the past.

Meanwhile, the other armies of the Holy Empire, led by Fenrir, Yugudora, and others, launched a simultaneous steamrolling offensive to the west, eventually bringing every island nation with land territory under their control.

During this time, the island people made different choices. A small number chose to bow their heads and surrender to the Holy Empire. Another small portion refused to yield, fighting to the bitter end. The vast majority, however, fled west by ship, ultimately taking refuge within the storms of the Deep Sea Area.

Although Qin Feng now commanded a super-legion of several million, with more than half having been promoted to Extraordinary Soldiers, he wasn’t arrogant enough to charge unprepared into that deep-sea storm, where there was no land for support.

He merely dispatched a few warships, ordering Arthas to lead a contingent of Undead Soldiers to set out ahead and sail into the stormy Deep Sea Area. Their mission was twofold: first, to investigate the general environment inside, and second, to focus on searching for traces of the long-rumored Ocean Giant Beasts.

If the enemy launched a surprise attack, using deep-diving tactics that a ground army would be hard-pressed to defend against to destroy the warships, Qin Feng’s side would only lose some Undead cannon fodder that could be summoned at any time. The loss would be inconsequential.

But if the enemy’s offensive proved weak, unable to even breach the defenses of these few scouting warships, then with Arthas’s formidable personal combat strength, coupled with the power of "Divine Descent" that was akin to a Mechanical Descent, he might even be able to directly capture one or two Ocean Giant Beasts.

This way, Qin Feng’s side would gain the confidence to engage in direct naval battles, creating a deterrent against the warships of the island people.

Subsequently, Arthas, acting like the "workaholic of the Holy Empire," led his squad of Undead scouting fodder aboard the warships. They crossed the vast ocean, which was gripped by gales and torrential rain, and finally reached a Deep Sea Area that, apart from the island people, no one had ever set foot in before.

Just as Qin Feng had predicted, the natives who had lived here for generations, along with the island refugees, had already set a massive ambush amidst the monstrous Giant Waves kicked up by the storm.

The moment the warship carrying Arthas sailed into this deep sea, it was instantly encircled by hundreds of enemy vessels.

What was even more alarming was that giant tentacles would frequently shoot out from between the churning Giant Waves, directly Tearing the seemingly indestructible vanguard warship in half.

Seeing this critical situation, Qin Feng acted decisively. He activated his "Divine Descent" power to possess Arthas’s body and immediately used his exclusive Lord Player ability, "Investigation," on the giant, squid-like tentacles.

[Description: One of the rumored Ocean Giant Beasts living in the deep sea. It is responsible for Sheltering the island people and is the deity worshipped by all island dwellers living in the Atlantic Ocean.]

Impressive!

1-Star (Red) Late-Stage power!

A level of power on par with Amilia and the Flame Emperor Galukasa, both at the Extraordinary Peak!

But in terms of pure combat power in a direct clash, without any kiting or One-Strike Evasion tactics, the Kraken, as a Legendary Level Demon Beast, was far beyond what Amilia or Flame Emperor Galukasa could match alone.

After all, its Blood Volume alone was over six thousand. It was the being with the highest Life Value Qin Feng had ever seen, aside from himself and the Evil Dragon Jinli.

Even the Ancient Giant Dragon named "Thunder Fire," which Amilia rode, had a far lower Life Value.

In an era where one-hit kills were commonplace, a higher Blood Volume meant a larger margin for error. Consequently, the boost to one’s combat power was naturally more significant.

’This is a bit tricky.’

’This thing’s main body is just hiding at the bottom of the sea, refusing to show itself. It only extends its tentacles to the surface to attack the warships, then pulls them back immediately after it’s done dismantling them.’ 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

’Whether I want to kill it or subdue it, I have to consider one problem first: what if it’s like a cowardly lizard and just hides back at the bottom of the sea when it can’t win?’

’We have no way to hold it in place right now...’

However, time waited for no one. While Qin Feng was still carefully pondering a countermeasure, the Kraken’s assault on the warships grew even more ferocious.

Gales carried torrential rain, whipping up Giant Waves dozens of feet high on the sea’s surface. The ink-black swells, like furious beasts, repeatedly tossed the Gulad Warship into the air, only to smash it violently back down onto the water.

Tentacles as thick as pillars shot up from the roiling waves, lashing violently at the warship’s deck, carrying the salty reek of the sea and a whistle that tore through the air.

Some tentacles directly snapped the warship’s mast. The broken timber, along with fragments of canvas, flew toward the horizon, only to be instantly swallowed by the downpour.

Other tentacles coiled around the ship’s hull. The immense force twisted the vessel, which let out an agonized CREAKING AND GROANING under the strain. Wood splinters peeled away with the waves, and seawater poured madly into the hold through the cracks.
