Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System
Chapter 226 - 114: Leisurely Journey Through Worlds
In such an environment, serving a bowl of rice and sitting around to enjoy it with the beautiful scenery is truly a very satisfying thing.
No one would drive at night, so this was the time to have a little beer.
After dusk, the weather got a bit chilly, and the cook, Old Li, boiled some beer with goji berries, red dates, and rock sugar in two large kettles and poured it out for everyone.
Overall, we didn’t drink much, just a little tipsy.
After dinner, there was no rush to return to the tents to rest; everyone gathered to chat, which was a process of getting to know each other better.
Qi Shunyi and Xu Chengcai somehow got their hands on a chess set and played two games under the camp lights in a corner.
Li Younan watched for a while and concluded in his mind: they’re both amateur players.
Between the two, Xu Chengcai was slightly better, winning two games against Qi Shunyi, which made him a bit cocky.
Qi Shunyi said, "I can’t beat you; go find someone else. I’m going to do something else."
Xu Chengcai then looked at Li Younan, who had been watching: "Come play two games with me."
Li Younan didn’t really want to play with Xu Chengcai because he was too weak—it’s a master’s loneliness.
Now, if Li Younan wanted to find joy in chess, he would have to play against a computer on hard mode or a professional player known nationally.
Thinking about it this way, the abilities brought by the system aren’t always a good thing.
Li Younan smiled and said, "No, I’m not good at it."
It was a polite refusal.
Of course, Xu Chengcai didn’t realize this and just thought Li Younan was intimidated by the superb chess skills he had just shown playing against Qi Shunyi.
Then he earnestly asked Li Younan to sit down, removing one of his rooks and knights and placing them in front of Li Younan.
The meaning was clear.
Giving you a rook and a knight.
Li Younan was a bit taken aback and sat down with a bit of a headache, scratching the back of his head: "Uh, okay then..."
The chess game resumed with new players, and some men and women from the group went back to their tents to rest.
They were all adults, and a bold sister made a joke: "Keep the noise down at night."
Which made a few of the young ladies blush, and the group burst into laughter.
Ma Jing, who had gone back to the car early, sat on the bed in the back trunk, opened the foldable table, and played on the computer for a while.
Her mind wandered back to the black stone that Li Younan had picked up in the afternoon; feeling curious, she got out of the car, wanting to take a closer look.
She saw Li Younan still playing chess with Xu Chengcai in the center of the camp.
Li Younan remained calm, with an expression that showed he found everything interesting, while Xu Chengcai frowned deeply, finally sighing lightly: "No more, no more, I can’t win against you."
Li Younan said, "How about I give you a cannon as well?"
Just then, Qi Shunyi, who had just returned, saw this scene and laughed: "Hey, Old Xu, how come you can’t beat Younan? Hahaha."
At this point, Li Younan decided not to tease Xu Chengcai anymore and prepared to go back to the car to rest.
It was then he noticed Ma Jing looking at him inquisitively.
He stood up: "What’s up?"
Ma Jing said, "I wanted to see that stone you picked up this afternoon."
Although it was already dark, it wasn’t actually very late, not even nine.
In the deep mountains, this was the advantage—when the moon rose and it got dark, you really felt like it was time to sleep.
However, Li Younan wasn’t sleepy at the moment; he planned to go back to the car to work on that stone, which was, to be precise, an ink jade.
Li Younan opened the trunk, took off his shoes, and jumped in. Ma Jing hesitated for a moment, as Li Younan’s bed was a large one, fully spread out, with no place to step.
But she only hesitated for a moment, then took off her cotton slippers and climbed in, sitting comfortably on Li Younan’s trunk bed.
She wore black socks, sat cross-legged, and once again sincerely praised: "Your bed car is really cozy."
Li Younan unfolded the foldable table and took out the raw ink jade.
He laid a layer of kraft paper on the table so that the stone scraps wouldn’t fall on the bed while processing it later.
He then took out a small tool kit from the side, which contained several portable tools for processing and carving jade.
Under the camping light, the car was very bright, so Li Younan leisurely started working on the ink jade. Seeing Ma Jing looking at him curiously, he knocked on the table in front of her with his phone: "Since you’re here, help me record a video."
Ma Jing snapped back to reality and caught the phone.
Handling raw ink jade didn’t require much technical skill.
This piece of ink jade had few impurities, and after polishing, it revealed the original luster of the jade inside, a dark color that gave a very high-end feel.
Ma Jing looked a bit bewildered, now truly realizing that this seemingly unremarkable stone was indeed jade.
She said, "Have you struck it rich?"
Li Younan chuckled faintly: "Not really, this jade costs just about one or two thousand bucks."
"What are you going to do with it?"
"Oh, I’m going to make something out of it; the night can be pretty boring, so I find something to do."
"Can I watch you work on this? I’m quite curious."
Li Younan shrugged nonchalantly: "As long as you’re not worried about what people outside might think, I’m fine with it."
