Isekai Adventure in the Dimensional Cube - Chapter 1609 - 1111: The Britannian Situation
Above the Great Cavern outside of Camelot.
Reiger silently appeared here after leaving the Jade Throne Hall.
"The Great Cavern..."
Gazing at the bottomless, seemingly endless gigantic hole below, Reiger felt a sudden urge to simply destroy it.
There was no helping it; from the depths of the bottomless cavern, malice so intense it seemed almost tangible rose like smoke, causing an instinctive aversion in Reiger. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Especially knowing what slumbered beneath, Reiger felt it would be best to destroy it now.
"Unfortunately, if I act rashly now, not only might I fail to destroy it, but I might also awaken it from its slumber."
With that in mind, Reiger suppressed the impulse within.
"For now, it’s best not to worry about what’s beneath."
Reiger turned his head to look in the direction of the palace.
From his position, he could easily see the artillery aimed towards here.
Upon closer inspection, those artillery pieces were actually spears.
Not guns from the arsenal of hot weapons, but spears from the arsenal of cold weapons, their black, long shafts mounted like barrels, their tips aimed like muzzles and poised as if ready to fire at any moment.
Roughly counting, there seemed to be around twelve of these artillery pieces.
Reiger could clearly sense the magic power contained within those "spears," vast and immense.
And this was to be expected.
The artillery pieces were directly connected to Morgan’s throne, magical constructs capable of unleashing bombardments using the throne’s magic at any moment.
Reiger was very familiar with the power within these "spears."
Without a doubt, those were materialized holy lances, the "Tower" formation crafted personally by Morgan.
Though merely a magical recreation, not realizing the essence as Reiger’s weapons did, which could show the true power that summoned visions of the world’s end, they were unmistakably great magical constructs known as [Spear That Shines at the End], capable of delivering a holy lance’s strike anywhere, anytime.
These magical constructs were always aimed here, at this Great Cavern.
"It seems Morgan also constantly remembers what’s beneath here."
Thinking back to the events of the fairy calendar year 400, when he and Morgan, who was then the savior Ash, infiltrated the Great Cavern, Reiger vaguely remembered Ash’s immense caution towards it after emerging.
It was from that time that Ash started monitoring this place, with the intention of overseeing it.
Upon abandoning the savior identity, Ash, as Morgan, ruled all of Britannia through martial power, and after being crowned in the great cathedral of Salisbury, built Camelot next to the Great Cavern, establishing it as Britannia’s capital.
All of this was for the constant supervision of the Great Cavern, or rather, what lay at its bottom.
Those twelve artillery pieces were prepared for the day when something from the cavern might crawl out.
As long as the throne remained and Morgan, the master of the throne, existed, it would be difficult for anything from the Great Cavern to awaken and threaten Britannia.
At least, in theory, that’s the case...
"Forget it, I won’t think about that thing."
Shaking his head, Reiger ceased focusing on the Great Cavern, setting his sights back on Camelot before teleporting inside with a magic spell.
This time, his target was not Morgan, but any well-informed fairy within Camelot.
He needed to know what had happened in Britannia during the month he was away.
He also needed to know Altoria’s location, and the whereabouts of Chaldea.
Only then could he find them.
...
About ten minutes later, walking out from an alley in Camelot, Reiger hid himself from the surrounding fairies using [Complete Unknowable], displaying a contemplative expression.
"So much has happened already?"
Gaining substantial intelligence through [Memory Manipulation] from a fairy who was torturing a human slave, and leaving the now mentally destroyed fairy at the alley’s depths, Reiger finally understood the current situation in Britannia.
During the month he was away, the situation in Britannia indeed underwent many changes.
The first change started with the port city of Norwichtown.
Initially, when the "calamity" erupted in Norwichtown, Morgan used [Water Mirror] to send Reiger and the formed "calamity" back in time.
Due to Reiger’s intervention, Norwichtown was neither destroyed by the "calamity" nor severely damaged by [Water Mirror]’s purging power, and was preserved in a relatively intact state.
The city was spared, and the fairies in Norwichtown were overjoyed, except for the discontented Spurgen, whose plan to reap huge profits failed, the rest started rebuilding Norwichtown fervently, restoring it to its former state in just a few days, unlike Salisbury, which took a considerable time to rebuild.
