Invincible Little School Doctor
Chapter 2006: That Was a Bit Too Easy
The giant man cheerfully cooked the tiger meat and shared it with Ye Haochuan until it was all gone. From this meal, Ye Haochuan truly understood what it meant to have an enormous appetite. The giant man devoured over ten pounds of tiger meat in just a few bites and still seemed unsatisfied.
After bustling for half the night, it was already late night, and the giant man fell asleep after eating, while Ye Haochuan quietly left the room.
He wasn’t sure what the giant man’s attitude would be towards him taking things from this place, so he decided not to tell him.
By this time, everyone in the village was asleep, and it was pitch black all around, with not a hint of light visible.
However, for Ye Haochuan, this was no problem; with his keen eyesight, he could walk around as if it were daylight.
Soon, Ye Haochuan arrived at the very center of the formation.
It was a very old well, quite deep. From the water-fetching tools still wet, it was clear this well remained the village’s water source.
Ye Haochuan leaped and jumped directly into the well.
The wall of this well was quite special, as if it were carved from a complete stone, without any gaps. Many patterns were carved into the well wall.
Even with Ye Haochuan’s not-so-deep formation knowledge, he could easily see that these patterns were indeed the basis of the defensive array.
After descending several yards, Ye Haochuan plunged into the water.
"Damn, this water is way too cold!" Feeling the biting chill of the water, Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but complain.
The water in the well was even colder than freshly melted ice water. If not for his Heart Thunder Armor protecting him, he might have directly been frozen by this water.
Even so, Ye Haochuan still felt some trepidation because the treasure chest he sought lay thousands of meters down.
He adjusted his state before taking a deep breath and rapidly submerged into the water.
Due to the rules of the Immortal Realm, Spiritual Energy didn’t replenish him as much as in the Lower Realm, so he couldn’t swim freely like in the lower realm waters and had to ascend quickly to avoid suffocation.
A well thousands of meters deep was indeed rare. Crucially, Ye Haochuan found this thousands-meter-deep well was carved from a complete stone. What a marvel!
"Damn it, it’s getting colder!"
The deeper he went, the colder the well water became. At just a few hundred meters down, it was already formidable. Who knew how cold it would be after thousands of meters?
Apparently, treasures aren’t easily acquired!
Ye Haochuan sighed inwardly, then slowed his pace. Though it would waste more time, charging ahead foolishly when unsure of any crises would be unwise.
Additionally, slowing his descent allowed his body time to adjust to the surrounding temperature.
Yet, when he reached a thousand meters down, the water temperature around him hit his limit.
Ye Haochuan gritted his teeth, letting the Purple Lotus Spirit Flame flow through his body along with Spiritual Energy.
Allowing the flame to flow through his meridians was clearly quite painful. Ye Haochuan felt as if all his organs, meridians, and vessels were being roasted.
Even with the controlled temperature of the Purple Lotus Spirit Flame, it was evident that without control, he would definitely be burned into ashes by the flame.
Though painful, the effect was obvious; at least he no longer felt the sensation of freezing to death.
With the empowerment of the Purple Lotus Spirit Flame, Ye Haochuan’s descent crisis was abruptly resolved, allowing him to continue diving.
Two thousand meters... three thousand meters...
Soon, Ye Haochuan unexpectedly arrived outside the treasure chest.
He suddenly felt a sense of unreality; this, too simple, wasn’t it?
According to usual stories, gaining something good usually requires great danger. Although his previous experience posed some obstacles, it was far from dangerous!
"Could it be there’s some perilous mechanism inside this treasure chest?" Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but speculate.
Unable to see clearly inside the treasure chest, he truly couldn’t know what mechanism might exist.
"No matter what, let’s take it up first!" Ye Haochuan decided, instantly storing the treasure chest in his Space Ring, then quickly ascending.
Soon, Ye Haochuan returned above the old well, changing into clean clothes before carefully opening the treasure chest.
Inside the box, to Ye Haochuan’s surprise, there was no mechanism, but also not much inside, just a three-finger-thick ancient book.
"Hundred Arrays Collection?"
Seeing the name on the ancient book, Ye Haochuan was slightly stunned. He hadn’t expected that the treasure hidden under the well would be a collection of formations.
It seemed like fate was deliberately helping him; he had just been planning to improve his formation skills, and now fate handed him a formations collection.
Lately, he had just sorted through the formation foundation he acquired from the Secret Realm of Endless Clouds, and lacked some good formations to practice. Obtaining this Hundred Arrays Collection was like a sleepyhead finding a pillow.
Ye Haochuan eagerly flipped open the collection by the weak moonlight, swiftly browsing the knowledge inside.
About an hour later, he slowly closed the book, sighing, "These formations are excellent; it’s a pity the materials needed to craft the formation foundations are hard to come by!"
To set up formations, corresponding formation foundations and flags were needed. For each formation’s foundation, specific materials were required for crafting, because only materials compatible with the formation could unleash its power.
The materials that could serve as formation foundations had unique characteristics, making them hard to find. Especially for certain High-Level formations, the required materials were even more scarce; some people spend their lives collecting them.
"Why worry so much? Just gather them slowly!" Ye Haochuan smiled with a sigh, storing the Hundred Arrays Collection in the ring.
By now, dawn was breaking.
Ye Haochuan returned to the giant man’s hut, where the thunderous snoring continued.
Anxious to set off, Ye Haochuan woke the giant man, instructing him to pack up and join him on the journey.
The giant man, originally eager to venture out, was even more excited now. Ye Haochuan gave him a Space Ring, inside which he packed some clothes and essentials, then departed with Ye Haochuan.
The other villagers, not sure if Ye Haochuan had exposed their secrets, hid in their rooms, avoiding the giant man.
However, Ye Haochuan noticed they were secretly watching the giant man through cracks in the doors.
Perhaps at this moment, they could truly appreciate the giant man’s worth. With him around, they needed to do nothing to have demon beast meat to eat, demon beast skins to use, and could sell them for money, buying necessities to improve their lives.
Now, they had nothing. To improve their lives, they had to rely on themselves.
And this could all be blamed on their previous greed; had they treated the giant man well enough, they might have convinced him not to leave.
