Infinite Survival: My 10,000x Return System
Chapter 75: [] Omniversal Audit
The universe violently stuttered.
It was not a localized reality warp caused by the Paradox Bug. It was a massive foundational seizure of the entire Omniverse.
The pitch black blade of the Ebonheart Sword stopped exactly one inch from the mutated boy’s neck. It froze mid air as if it had struck an invisible wall of solid diamond.
Arthur grunted. His muscles strained against the sudden impossible resistance.
"What the..." Arthur muttered and his eyes narrowed.
The sky above the Mortal Domain did not just change color. It died. The dark rain filled clouds instantly evaporated. They were replaced by a sickening flat sterile grey void.
The ambient noise of the city was entirely muted. The crackling fires, the screaming civilians, and the rain hitting the cobblestones simply vanished.
And then, the gravity inverted.
"Emperor!" Sylvia shouted from the rooftop. She did not fall. She was violently ripped upward into the sky. Morwenna, Lyra, and Aurelia shouted in shock as they too were violently pulled toward the grey heavens.
They desperately scrambled to anchor themselves to the masonry of the surrounding buildings.
Arthur slammed his boots into the cobblestones. His face twisted in genuine shock. A massive crushing weight dropped directly onto his shoulders.
It was infinitely heavier than the Celestial Emperor or the Abyssal Progenitor. It forced him to one knee and the stone shattered beneath him.
He was not under attack by a God. He was being crushed by the sheer undeniable weight of mathematics.
[Ding!]
[CRITICAL ALERT]
↳ Cosmic Debt Threshold Exceeded.
↳ Multiplier generating unsustainable reality drag.
The system interface in Arthur’s mind did not just boot up. It practically exploded with frantic flashing red warnings.
"System, what the fuck is this?" Arthur snarled. He fought against the crushing pressure to keep his head up. "Report!"
[System Reply]
↳ Warning: Host’s 1,000,000x Return System does not create energy. It borrows it from the foundational fabric of the Omniverse to fuel the exponential returns.
↳ Host’s rapid acquisition of the Celestial Court and the Abyssal Progenitor’s core has severely over leveraged the structural economy of existence.
↳ The Omniversal Audit has been triggered.
Debt collection is imminent.
Arthur’s blood ran cold. The arrogant untouchable corporate shark suddenly realized the fatal flaw in his business model.
He had not been generating free capital. He had been taking out an infinitely compounding loan against the universe itself. Now the cosmic bank had just come to collect.
He looked down at the mutated bleeding boy pinned beneath him. The Paradox Bug was not the threat. It was a symptom. The universe’s immune system was failing because Arthur was draining it dry.
Arthur let out a harsh frustrated breath. He reached into his coat with a trembling hand and pulled out a high tier healing potion. He tossed it onto the boy’s chest.
"Consider this a severance package," Arthur said. His voice was strained under the immense gravitational pressure. "I have bigger problems."
"Emperor! We need to pull back!" Aurelia yelled. Her fingers dug deep into the stone of a chimney as the inverted gravity tried to hurl her into the void.
"System! Unlock stats! Emergency teleport to the Ebon Citadel! All personnel!" Arthur roared.
[Ding!]
[Stat Lock removed]
↳ Commencing emergency recall.
The crushing weight vanished for a fraction of a second as Arthur’s Grand Sovereign power flooded back into his veins. He did not waste the moment.
He forcefully grabbed the spatial coordinates of his four Queens and violently yanked them through the dimensional barrier. He tore a portal back to the safety of his empire.
"WHOOSH!"
Arthur crashed onto the polished starlight metal of the Ebon Citadel’s command bridge. He rolled to his feet instantly. Sylvia, Morwenna, Lyra, and Kaelith materialized around him.
They gasped for air and drew their weapons. They were thoroughly spooked by the sudden overwhelming hostility of the universe.
"Report!" Arthur barked as he strode directly toward the massive panoramic viewport.
"The Citadel is failing!" Kaelith screamed. Her six crystalline limbs moved in a blur of absolute panic over the main console. "The external leylines are being forcefully drained!
Something is tearing the ambient Order energy right out of the hull!"
Arthur looked out the window. His breath hitched.
The pristine unassailable sky of his newly unified Ebon Empire was cracking. Massive jagged black fissures spider webbed across the heavens.
It was accompanied by the deafening sound of shattering glass. The universe was not being attacked by an army. It was being repossessed.
"System," Arthur demanded. His hands gripped the railing of the command deck so hard the metal groaned. "Who is auditing me?"
Before the system could generate a prompt, the air in the center of the command bridge violently folded inward. It did not tear like a portal. It neatly and perfectly excised a rectangular section of space. It left a void of absolute sterile white light.
Stepping out of the light was a figure.
It was not a terrifying monster. It was not a glowing arrogant God. It was a perfectly smooth featureless humanoid construct made entirely of faceted crystalline grey glass. It possessed no face, no aura, and no discernible weaponry.
It radiated nothing but pure unadulterated erasure.
"Debt Horror," Kaelith whispered. Her voice trembled with ancient ingrained terror. "A localized manifestation of the Omniversal immune system. It erases anomalies to balance the cosmic ledger."
Arthur did not hesitate. He did not try to negotiate. He drew the Ebonheart Sword.
The Primordial Flame roared to life along the blade. He swung a devastating decapitating strike aimed directly at the construct’s neck.
"SHAAAAANK!"
The blade stopped a millimeter from the Horror’s smooth glass neck.
[Ding!]
[CRITICAL WARNING]
↳ Lethal force against Auditors incurs a 500% Destruction Tax.
↳ Destroying this entity will instantly bankrupt the Ebon Empire’s remaining reality reserves, resulting in immediate total annihilation.
↳ Restraint protocols heavily advised.
Arthur froze. The muscles in his arm trembled as he forcefully halted his own swing. He could not kill it. If he destroyed the collection agent, the bank would foreclose on the entire universe.
"Nonsense," Arthur hissed. He stepped back and lowered his blade.
The Debt Horror slowly turned its featureless head toward Arthur. It did not speak. It simply raised a perfectly smooth crystalline hand. It pointed a single finger directly at the Emperor’s chest.
Arthur could feel it. The sheer terrifyingly cold sensation of his 1,000,000x multiplier being systematically dismantled.
It was locked down and siphoned away to pay off a debt he could not possibly comprehend.
The five Queens gathered around him. Their weapons were drawn and their faces were pale.
For the first time since they had met him, they looked at Arthur Sterling and saw a man who did not have an immediate answer.
The hostile takeover was over.
The audit had begun.
