Chapter 70: Foyan [ 2 ]

"Bigger...? Haha..." Foyan held back a laugh. "You should know that bigger doesn’t always mean better. You can’t even control your domain, so how could you—"

Before Foyan could even finish his words, Xuan released all of his Void Qi in one burst, causing it to spread around his giant domain.

He had realized something. Elemental Qi worked fine for attacking, but when it came to actually manipulating the Qi itself, the purer form was better.

So when his Qi had surrounded a radius of a few hundred meters, Xuan felt a connection form inside his mind.

It was faint at first, but the more he focused on that feeling, the more Xuan understood what that connection was.

There was a large stream of Qi traveling from his Dantian toward his brain. Then, from his brain, the Qi was transmitted into the Domain itself.

So now Xuan felt as if he could control the entire Domain at will.

And of course, he tried to do just that right away.

He set his sights on Foyan, and without an ounce of hesitation, Xuan imagined Foyan getting crushed.

To his surprise, a large chunk of Qi traveled from his Dantian into his brain and then out into the Domain. It all happened within a second.

And the result? Void Qi gathered around Foyan and then swiftly slammed down at him. It was invisible to the naked eye, but Xuan could see it clearly.

"Ghh..." Foyan groaned, nearly falling to his knees. He looked up at Xuan, showing subtle surprise.

So this works like gravity control, huh? Xuan deduced, slowly approaching Foyan.

"Move," Xuan urged coldly.

Hearing that, Foyan’s Qi pressure intensified in fury as he tried to suppress Xuan. He took a single step forward, and despite the gravity weighing down on him, he was able to move freely, albeit a little sluggishly.

Alongside his own domain, Foyan began aggressively attacking Xuan. He used a mix of sharp attacks aimed to kill and slow but meaningful footwork, which made it hard for Xuan to land a hit.

Even with his own domain helping him, Xuan was losing to Foyan’s sheer experience. Within just ten blows, Xuan’s internal injuries accumulated, and he was forced to Void Step away from Foyan.

Xuan wiped the blood from the corner of his lips and narrowed his eyes.

So the gravity control is still too weak to use against a Spirit Grandmaster. But if I use it in short bursts, then... Xuan trailed off and did just that.

The Void Qi slammed down over and over again onto Foyan, making him trip and fall to the ground, his knees bent at odd angles, and then, a moment later, his arms.

It was very effective, but it drained Xuan’s Qi heavily. He could do it around five more times at most before he would run out of Void Qi.

Even so, Xuan had had enough of testing his abilities.

Foyan was a Spirit Grandmaster, which apparently was the peak of most Tier 3 worlds. And yet, Xuan couldn’t understand how someone like this could be so weak.

"So Qi pressure and a Demonic Qi domain?" Xuan approached, entering the five-meter radius of Foyan’s domain once again. "Is that really all you can offer?"

Demonic Qi invaded Xuan’s body, trying its best to corrupt him. However, this Demonic Qi was like nourishment to Xuan. From the earlier exchange, his mastery had gone up by leaps and bounds.

[Demonic Qi - Beginner - 0.02% → 0.24%]

Xuan crouched down, grabbing Foyan by his golden hair and lifting him up. Even after the gravity weighing him down, he still had the energy to smirk.

It was sickening. Xuan hated these types of snakes the most.

The sight of Hanbi bleeding out crossed his mind, making his anger grow further.

His grip tightened on Foyan’s hair, and soon after, Xuan’s eyes glowed a light shade of crimson, which somehow allowed him to absorb Foyan’s Demonic Domain faster.

Foyan let out a chuckle. But right as he opened his mouth to speak, Xuan suddenly elbowed his mouth, breaking his jaw in an instant.

As Foyan’s eyes widened, Xuan suddenly elbowed him again and again, each blow dealing more damage to Foyan’s face. After just a few more elbows, Foyan was left with a broken nose, all his teeth knocked out, and lastly, his eyes shut from the swelling.

In a last-ditch effort, Foyan exploded his Qi outward, trying to push Xuan away. However, Xuan held on firmly to Foyan’s neck.

The shallow water blew back, and Xuan’s hair fluttered in the wind as he stood rooted in place, using the gravity manipulation on himself.

And once Foyan’s Qi had all but run out, Xuan let go, causing him to fall onto his back directly into the shallow water.

Xuan stared down at him coldly, but then he vanished from sight. A moment later, he came back holding a broken steel sword that had belonged to Foyan.

Crouching down, Xuan gently brushed the sword’s edge against Foyan’s abdomen, traveling upward and finally stopping at the heart, hovering just slightly above it.

"You know... I thought more of you. You’re fast, you’re strong. Even your Domain is pretty cool. But... how are you a Spirit Grandmaster? You are nothing like the Three Evil Kings of the Nether Sea... You’re just—"

At the mention of the Three Evil Kings of the Nether Sea, Foyan’s entire body twitched as he raised his hand slowly. Xuan didn’t think anything of it at first, but that was when an extremely thin needle shot out of Foyan’s fingertip, embedding itself directly into Xuan’s neck.

Xuan’s eyes widened, and without any more hesitation, he drove the broken sword through Foyan’s heart. A faint gasp escaped, but within seconds, he stopped moving completely, his body growing cold.

<Second Level Spirit Grandmaster - Human slain>

<+3,000,000 Void Qi | 4,599,125,110 / 10,000,000,000>

Huh? Isn’t he a demonic cultivator? Shouldn’t he revive...? Xuan narrowed his eyes. Are there different types of demonic cultivators...?

More importantly...

What did this guy just inject into me?

He reached for the needle, trying to pull it out. However, there was no needle, almost as if he had imagined it.

But the sight of the needle, as well as the pain he felt, was definitely real, so he continued searching all around.

He even used Void Qi to scan his entire body, but aside from the residual Demonic Qi that he was still slowly absorbing, there was nothing.

I need to be careful... Xuan narrowed his eyes at Foyan’s lifeless corpse, and with a single kick, he turned Foyan’s body to dust.

Even in death, he seemed to be a menace.

Xuan closed his eyes and cut off the connection to his Domain. He felt a sudden rush of Void Qi go back into his body. When he finally reopened his eyes, the space around him cracked, revealing the cave he had been in for the last month.

When he glanced down, his heart sank again. Hanbi was simply lying there, unmoving. However, upon a closer look, he saw her chest weakly heaving up and down, and when he crouched beside her, he realized she was breathing.

Xuan’s gaze hardened as he gently lifted her up and then kicked the wall with an Elemental Qi-infused kick.

A large hole appeared in the side of the cave. Rocks fell swiftly, threatening to crush him. But without wasting a single second, Xuan kicked off the ground, Hanbi in hand.

The cave seemed to be atop an extremely tall mountain, but that didn’t bother Xuan as he was no stranger to tall mountains.

Therefore, he hurtled toward the ground with immense speed, Void Stepping to increase his momentum.

When he fell below the clouds, he spotted several giant bells in the distance, and having made up his mind, he Void Stepped toward them, ready to confront the Grand Jade Temple.
