Chapter 12: Don’t worry, I’ll protect you

"What are you talking about?" Rudi looked at him with confusion, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he was trying to understand whether Victor was being serious or not.

"Yes. Man, that woman was otherworldly. I am sure she is not human," Victor said with full confidence about this fact. His tone carried no hesitation, and his expression remained firm as if he had already reached a conclusion that could not be shaken easily.

Rudi let out a small breath and shook his head. "Looks like you have been dreaming. Get some proper rest. Oh yeah, you probably do not know this. Three sages are present in our city right now. The entire city is in a tense condition," he said before turning around and leaving the room.

Victor frowned slightly as he listened to those words.

"Three sages, huh? What are they doing here?" he muttered quietly before lying back down.

His body now needed natural rest. The exhaustion from earlier events had settled deep into his muscles, and his mind slowly drifted into sleep without resistance.

...

In the hospital.

The two nurses who took Diana from Victor appeared in the room. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

They were shaking.

Their hands trembled, and their breathing was uneven because three sages were standing in front of them. The pressure in the room felt heavy, almost suffocating, as if even the air had become difficult to breathe.

"Do not be afraid. What is your name?" Diana asked softly.

Her voice was calm, but there was something in it that made people instinctively lower their heads.

"Mi...ra," one of them replied, her lips trembling as she forced the word out.

"I am Sara," the other one replied as well, though her voice was not much steadier.

"Now, Mira and Sara, can you tell me who brought me here?" Diana asked gently.

"I think he is from the Walker family, Victor Wlaker. He is tagged as the supreme trash," Mira said in a hoarse voice.

She did not recognize him clearly at that time, but now that she thought about it, it was Victor who was famous in the city.

Diana’s face turned cold when she heard that remark.

If what she said was true, then Victor was her benefactor, and yet this woman was speaking about him like that.

"Just say what you are asked to," she said coldly.

The entire room almost froze.

Even Elyndros standing nearby remained silent.

The nurse immediately dropped to her knees.

"I am sorry. Please forgive me," she begged for mercy, her head lowered deeply.

"Grandpa, I want to meet this young man. Call the ancestor of the Walkers," Diana said calmly.

"Wait."

Elyndros stepped outside without wasting another moment.

Outside, all the influential people of the city were standing there like servants, none of them daring to act casually in such a situation.

"Is there anyone from the Walker family here?" he asked calmly.

Instantly, an old man appeared in a hurry and bowed deeply.

"Yes, sire. I am Valkan Walker, the ancestor of the clan. How can I be of use to you?" he said respectfully.

"Come with me," Elyndros said before turning and going back inside.

Valkan followed him, but his steps were not steady.

Inside the room, Diana had already worn a veil.

Valkan bowed again.

"Do you know Victor Walker?" she asked.

Instantly, Valkan’s heart skipped a beat.

What did that bastard do now?

"Yes, my lady. But I have already chased him out of the family. If he has done something wrong, we are not responsible," he said hurriedly, trying to distance himself as much as possible.

Elyndros snorted lightly from the side.

"What a moron," he thought, though he did not say it out loud.

"Is that so? Take me to him," Diana said slowly.

"Please come with me. I have given him a personal shop. I will revoke that right as well from that bastard," Valkan said, his voice filled with suppressed anger.

Diana stood up. She was now wearing her signature blue gown with a veil covering her face.

Diana and Elyndros came out of the hospital.

Arthur was already there, waiting for Lyria to arrive.

Boom.

A loud sound echoed as a valiant-looking woman descended from the sky and landed in front of Arthur.

"Hey Arthy, where is my sweetheart? How is she now?" Lyria asked in a concerned tone.

"She is fine now. She is coming out. Just wait," Arthur replied with a small smile.

Soon, Elyndros and Diana came out.

Lyria vanished from her place and appeared directly in front of Diana, hugging her tightly.

"What happened to you, sweety, and how are you feeling now?" she asked worriedly.

Then she looked at Elyndros,

"Old fool. You had just one job and that was to keep her safe and you can’t even do that.", she barked at him.

Elyndros was speechless but didn’t say anything as he knew that quarreling with her was similar to taking a storm on head. So he kept his mouth shut.

"Hello Lady Lyria. I am alright. I have an important task. I will catch up with you later," Diana said calmly.

"Can I come with you?" she asked.

"You want to?" Diana responded.

"Yes."

"Very well," Diana nodded.

Then four sages, along with hundreds of reporters, started heading toward the shop where Victor was.

"You can see, the four sages are heading somewhere. Lady Diana is looking very serious. Are we going to get some clue about what happened? If you want to know, stay with us," the reporters continued speaking without pause.

The entire world was watching this phenomenal march.

Four sages moving together was already something rare, and on top of that, the ultimate genius Lady Diana had somehow lost her consciousness in this very city.

Everything was wrapped in mystery.

Diana did not say anything yet.

Diana was immature when it came to social gatherings.

She did not fully understand the situation.

She did not think from Victor’s point of view. If he saw four sages along with hundreds of reporters and all the influential people of the city standing in front of him, would he even be able to remain conscious?

Because she had grown up surrounded by constant attention, such things felt normal to her.

Soon they appeared in front of the small shop.

The entire world was watching.

At that exact moment, Rudi came outside to buy medicine for Victor.

When he saw the lineup, his soul almost left his body.

His legs gave up, and he fell to the ground.

"Bastard, where is the other bastard? Call him right here," Valkan roared.

Rudi somehow gathered strength in his legs and ran toward Victor’s room.

"Victor, wake up. Victor," he called out.

Victor slowly opened his eyes.

He saw Rudi panicking like he had seen a ghost.

Rudi looked like he was about to collapse at any moment.

"What happened? Did someone come here to cause trouble again?" Victor asked, his eyes turning cold.

He felt refreshed after resting.

Rudi was about to speak, but then the roar came again.

"Bastards, come out this instant," Valkan shouted.

Victor did not recognize the voice.

He had never met the ancestor personally.

So he thought someone had come to cause trouble again.

He got ready.

"You stay here. Let me handle the situation," he said before walking downstairs.

With his hands behind his back, he prepared himself to farm some aura.

But when he reached downstairs, there was no one inside.

"Is he shouting from outside?" Victor muttered, his anger rising.

He stepped outside.

Then he saw everything.

The long lineup of people.

And suddenly his gaze landed on Diana.

When he saw her eyes, his heart started beating like a war drum.

But then he noticed she was surrounded by rough-looking people.

Victor did not recognize any of them.

He had never met any truly influential person in his life.

His eyes turned red.

He misunderstood the situation completely.

He thought they had kidnapped her because she was beautiful.

Without wasting even a second, he used a wind spell and appeared directly in front of Diana.

As he was so weak according to the sages, they weren’t on guard against him at all.

So he reached her without any resistance.

Before anyone could react, he pulled her into a tight embrace.

"Do not worry, Angel. As long as I am alive, no one will be able to harm you. I’ll protect you even if I have to put my life on the line. I will take you to your family. That is I, Victor Walker’s promise to you."
