In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]
Chapter 248: Protagonist Halo (1)
With Kamille’s speed driven by urgency, he managed to arrive in the capital in less than three hours. It was not his maximum speed, but if he put more of his power into it, he might expose his identity.
Despite wanting to arrive faster, Kamille kept Rise’s words in mind. Unless it was truly necessary, his identity as a noble should be kept hidden.
Kamille stopped once he was almost in the vicinity of the capital’s airspace. He then descended so as not to attract unwarranted attention. Without making any more detours, he went to the Union building.
He let his senses survey the area, gathering any information while he continued walking inside. Most of them were something he did not care about, but one particular conversation piqued his interest.
"Rise actually disappeared?"
"I don’t know. We have a notice in our team to gather for a search party."
"Heh. Why? Rise’s notorious for disappearing on a monthly basis. I don’t see the need to make a fuss."
The other was about to agree and continue in their conversation when they suddenly felt the words were unable to escape their mouths, and their back went cold.
When they looked around with terror in their faces, they could not see anything suspicious at all. Everyone could only exchange glances and dispersed.
At this moment, Kamille was already riding the elevator, planning to meet the Union general. He could not care less about whether his appearance was abrupt. He wanted to know what happened to Rise.
He held his emotions, clenching his hands to somehow calm himself. However, his whole demeanor was absolutely terrifying. The others could not help but give way to him, not daring to delay his matters.
There were murmurs around, recognizing Kamille.
Kamille strode without any care for his surroundings. He only paused when he was already on the Union General’s floor. The secretary there stopped him.
"Uh, Guild Leader Kamille? Do you have any appointments?" Despite her nervousness, the woman managed to complete his inquiry.
Kamille looked at her, devoid of any emotions aside from his raging crimson pupils. "I don’t, but I want to see the General."
It was an absolute miracle that Kamille had still managed to restrain himself and not barged inside. He still recognized the Union general’s identity to Rise.
The secretary looked troubled, especially as she was tasked to not receive guests, but Kamille looked like someone who would not accept any refusal.
She was only a normal person, and Kamille’s presence was already overwhelming. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Just as she was about to cry, a door opened, and Niftan, with a few others, appeared. The woman seemed to see her savior, and she went to Niftan and informed him of Kamille’s arrival.
Kamille and Niftan stared at each other. They seemed to seize each other up for a few moments before Niftan suddenly nodded. He turned to the others, said a few things, and then invited Kamille for a talk inside his office.
The others were curious, but seeing Kamille’s unapproachable look, they did not ask and quietly left.
Once alone inside the office, Kamille went straight to the point. He was not there for any pleasantries.
"I want to know if Rise really disappeared."
Niftan looked at him. There seemed to be a few questions that lingered in his eyes, but at this moment, one thing was more important. As for Rise’s relationship with Kamille, he wanted to hear it from Rise himself.
"Yes. Every clue we gathered led to a dead end. It was like someone was deliberately erasing them, but also they seemed not to exist as well."
This was one of his headaches. It had not yet been a day since, but the traces were already nowhere to be found. What’s more, most of his colleagues were skeptical, and so the wide search had yet to truly commence.
Niftan could only use his own resources for now.
Kamille listened to his words, and the more he did so, the more he felt something was unusual. His mind spun, and it was not long before he suspected someone.
He took a deep breath, restraining his emotions. Yet, Niftan’s eyes widened as he looked at Kamille, who suddenly looked different. It was as though he were a dangerous beast about to devour everyone.
Niftan swallowed. Even he was intimidated.
Kamille ignored his gaze and asked.
"Can you tell me in detail?" While the surge of his emotions inside of him, Kamille had asked in an eerily calm voice. It only intensified the oppressive air around him.
Niftan, the Union general, found himself nodding obediently to his words. Only when Kamille left in a hurry after watching the unusual footage did he wake up from his stupor.
He blinked, mouth agape, and was unable to recover for a while. Niftan sat breathlessly on the chair, watching the window from which Kamille had just jumped out.
"General?"
Niftan looked at his secretary, equally pale.
"He’s dangerous," Niftan murmured, and everyone inside subconsciously nodded.
No matter what the upheavals he caused, it had nothing to do with Kamille. His expressions, while calm, hid a terrifying explosion that was about to erupt.
His movements were so fast, truly an embodiment of the wind. Before anyone could see his figure, he was already nowhere to be found. His body paused, looking at the building in front of him.
Kamille’s crimson pupils flickered; rage was contained inside, but any minute now, and it would erupt. Too bad for everyone; no one was capable of calming him.
That very person was missing.
Kamille waved his hand, and the floor-to-ceiling windows before him shattered. The glass debris was suspended in the air for a while before it fell.
The commotion this caused was not light, but would he care for that? There was only one person in his eyes at this moment. And this was definitely not good news for this person.
Kamille floated in the air, not entering the room. His gaze landed on the one person inside who seemed to be waiting for him. This man was not very familiar to Kamille, but he harbored an unprecedentedly repulsive feeling against the other party.
It was much different from his disgust and aversion towards humans. This was deep and seemed to be coming from his very soul.
The man before him, whose name was Epsilon. Kamille felt an indescribable hatred just by looking at him.
Epsilon smiled sweetly at Kamille, ignoring the sharp glare.
"My male lead, you finally come."
