I'll Just Be Overpowered
Chapter 56: No stopping
The air was so tense it could be cut with a knife, and an eerie silence stayed in the air. After that first attack, all that was being waited for was the next attack.
A knight looked around, and the moment his eyes turned away from an alley, someone bolted out. ππ£πππ ππππ¨π―ππ.ππ¨π
"Arghhhh!" they yelled with a sword in their hands and thrust to stab the knight. The knight was a royal knight, trained to be the best, and so when he heard the footsteps and shout, he reacted instantly and turned around, blocking the attack fast and proceeding to counter with a slash through the guts. Blood gushed in every direction as the body fell to the ground. That was the start.
More figures rushed out of the alleys with weapons in their hands and eagerness in their eyes, burning with a desire to kill. The battle began immediately, the knights took the high ground instantly, as they were trained for this sort of thing.
Inside the carriage, Ken watched what was happening outside, there was a troubled look on his face, the type you had when you knew something crucial but could not prove it.
"Something about this is off," Ken said. He turned and looked at Luna. "These are definitely not the people that are attacking, such people know for certain that they could not win against a royal convoy," Ken said, he looked out again. "They would have to be immensely desperate to do something like this."
"Oh, I see, you are saying they are controlled by someone, and they are not the real enemy," Leo said while holding his chin.
"You are not as dumb as you look," Ken said. He grabbed the door and pushed it open. "Come with me, I have a feeling this carriage will not last long."
Leo looked at Luna, but she was already moving to follow Ken, he let out a pissed-off sigh and followed them to leave the carriage. As they came out, they saw the battle that was happening, the royal knights easily handling the situation, bodies had covered the ground.
"What a mess," Leo said with a frown, looking at all the bodies and blood on the ground, but the three of them had somehow had their own fair share of violence and this did nothing to scare them.
Ken looked at Ross, he stood there with no care at all, watching the fight like it had nothing to do with him. As if sensing that Ken was looking at him, he turned and when he saw that the three of them were outside, he frowned, immediately moving in their direction when suddenly his face changed.
He and Ken looked at the sky at the same time and a magical formation was there. A pillar of flames fell from it, right onto the carriage that Ken had just been in, it blasted the entire carriage into shreds, the force of the blast threw all of them along with a ton of knights in every direction.
Ken stretched out in the air and wrapped his hands around Luna, using his body to shield her as they slammed into the ground and hit a wall hard.
"Are you alright?" Ken asked, looking at Luna in his arms. Her cheeks were tomato red, but she hid it, she knew that now was not the time and he had done it to save her. She got off him fast and nodded. "Iβm fine," she said.
After the explosion, everyone was in shock, if they had been inside that carriage they would have died for certain. That was not the only thing that drew attention, as after the explosion, multiple figures appeared on the roofs of houses, each one draped in black robes and on their chest was a red circle.
They all wore cloth masks over their faces that had red dots as well. The moment Ken saw them, he could sense a huge amount of mana from each one and a bloodlust unlike any he had sensed.
"The Red Sun Cult," one of the knights said, shocked as he spoke, he gripped his sword even tighter.
"Red Sun Cult?" Ken muttered, he turned to see Ross also had an expression that told him this situation had changed. Ken looked at the body of a man that was killed and he spotted a red dot on his hand.
"It makes sense, these men are being controlled by whoever these Red Sun Cult whatever are, they want to ensure they canβt be stopped," Ken said.
As if hearing what Ken had said, two of the cult members leaped into the air, both pulled out swords, one immediately covered with flames and the other lightning.
Ken pulled his sword very fast. "Luna, step back," Ken said and charged ahead fast without a moment of hesitation.
"That kid, what is he doing?" Ross said in anger, he raised his hand and a magic formation formed followed by an ice lance, but before he could fire the attack, one of the cult men vanished and appeared right over him, forcing Ross to look up. He moved fast and dodged to the side, the cultist above his head unleashed a slash that cleaved the ground in half from that distance.
Ross forcefully turned the attack that he wanted to use to help Ken to attack the cultist, the ice ripped through the air and slammed into the cultist hard, the cultist coughed up blood but then vanished.
Right now the other knights could not help at all, because they were busy facing off the men that kept rushing from the alley to attack.
Ken blocked the attack of both the flame sword and lightning sword at the same time. An explosion ripped through the air and threw Ken back, he landed on the ground and skidded back a few meters. The cultists landed on the ground and got ready to attack again.
Ken made an attempt to rush forward, only for one cultist to suddenly appear right in front of him, and his blade already on his throat, one inch away, and he was in motion, impossible to stop.
