I Was Forced To Marry The Phoenix Empress
Chapter 246: Dance of Death
Yi Chen lifted his chin up towards the sky and said with a little disbelief on his face, "I didn’t expect that you would absorb it all in three days’ time."
The massive cloud of dark Qi was no longer visible as it had all been absorbed by Gao Zhen’s spirit root.
"I also wasn’t expecting it..." Gao Zhen muttered while adding with a sigh, "However, it’s a pity. Despite its big size, only one-tenth of my roots have turned black..."
"Indeed..." Yi Chen smiled bitterly.
In the last two days, he had got a fair idea as to what one’s spirit root actually looked like from Gao Zhen.
Initially, he thought that it would resemble a tree root, so his curiosity was stoked when he heard that it wasn’t the case.
Technically, the Spirit Root is divided into two parts, the inner portion and the outer portion.
The inner portion was an irregularly shaped crystal, while the outer portion consisted of root-like tendrils extending out from the crystal, which numbered several thousand.
Yi Chen glanced at the countdown that was just a few minutes away from reaching zero and added, "Looks like I finally understand the reason for this countdown. It wasn’t to hinder us, but to ensure that we don’t run out of dark Qi in the future."
When he finished those words, he turned towards Gao Zhen and said, "You’ve done enough for today. Go and rest in the tent until I take care of those incoming bastards. After a few hours, we’ll start our next session again."
Hearing Yi Chen’s words, Gao Zhen hesitated a little before finally nodding, "Alright."
She knew that if she were to fight alongside him, then she would only end up becoming a burden now.
Therefore, she took out a few Qi Nourishing Pills from her storage ring and gave them to him.
"I still hav-"
Yi Chen tried to refuse as he still had a few pills left from earlier, and he also didn’t think that the Ice monsters would require much effort from his side to be dealt with this time.
Gao Zhen pushed those pills in his hands and said, "Still, it’s best to be prepared for uncertainty."
Hearing those words, he nodded and finally accepted them.
"Thanks," he added.
"Don’t be. I’m only doing it for our mutual benefit," she said, imitating Yi Chen’s earlier attitude with a smile before leaving for her tent.
"Got it," he chuckled, seeing her expression as she turned her back towards him.
The next instant, his gaze returned to the countdown, which had less than a minute left and kept ticking.

The moment the countdown reached zero, the entire ground shook for several seconds, and the moment it stopped, several black ice figures came out of the icy ground.
Seeing the familiar monsters rising from the ground, a sense of relief appeared in Yi Chen’s mind as he checked their status panel the very next second.
=========STATUS=========
Name: Black Glacial Soldiers
Strength: 320 [Equivalent to a Fifth Qi Absorption Stage cultivator.]
Remark (3/3): Can only do physical attacks.
========================
Seeing that there were no changes in their strength, his confidence only increased, and the next instant, without even waiting for them to rush towards him, he rushed towards them.
Fiery Qi instantly layered his two hands and formed a sharp blade of Qi extending out from his fists.
’Pierce!’
He exclaimed while pointing both his fists forward.
ZOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Both the Qi blades shot out the very next instant and pierced through a little more than a hundred Glacial soldiers one after the other before finally stopping.
’This length should be enough for now,’ Yi Chen thought while glancing at his system panel, in which his Qi pool had depleted by a hundred points in one go.
As Gao Zhen had said earlier, it was best to be prepared for uncertainties.
Therefore, he decided to conserve his remaining Qi for now and focused all his attention on the Glacial soldiers ahead who had just been pierced by him.
"So let the slaughter begin."
He grinned, and the very next instant cleaved them apart.
SHIIIIIIIING!
The heavy bodies made of ice crashed onto the ground, turning into black dust one after the other as Yi Chen kept swinging his arms in a controlled rhythmic fashion, taking out hundreds of Glacial soldiers with each swing.
While at it, he didn’t forget to ensure that no Glacial soldier could step within the ten-meter periphery of the tent in which Gao Zhen was resting.
After dealing with a thousand of them in just a matter of minutes, he finally decided to reduce the length of his blades to ten meters to not only conserve his Qi but also enjoy himself to the fullest.
’Let’s try this move then...’ he thought with an excited expression as an idea came to his mind.
With his arms extended outward, he rushed forward while rotating on his feet. A move that initially looked difficult to implement properly, but the longer he did it, the easier it became for him.
The grin on his face kept widening as more and more Glacial soldiers perished under his blades.
Just like an angel of death, he danced through the battlefield, cleaving hundreds of them one after the other.
"Wow..."
Gao Zhen, who had just poked her head out of the tent to observe the situation outside, couldn’t help but feel stunned when her gaze rested on Yi Chen’s figure.
Without a care in the world, he kept rotating his body with his arms slightly bent inwards and rushed forward, leaving behind a long trail of glimmering black dust that slowly settled on the ground.
"So beautiful..."
She couldn’t help but mutter in amazement as her eyes remained affixed on him until the very end.
The moment Yi Chen stopped his onslaught, all the Glacial soldiers around him had already perished.
However, not caring about them in the slightest, he immediately opened his Cultivation Arsenal.
"I knew it."
He grinned widely the very next instant.
