"Holy dude! This is the first time I’ve seen such an insane rank jump! Must be satisfying, huh! Watching your rank go up like rocket. But here I am, barely going up by 4 or 5..."
Alan said as he looked at Quash’s rank after he defeated Alicia. His voice dripping with envy, making Quash smile involuntarily.
It felt good.
"But Quash...do you think it’s okay? Like, you just brutally murdered the Headmaster’s granddaughter..."
"What nonsense are you spouting? Why I that not okay? The Headmaster won’t do anything. Nor his granddaughter. Both of them are like minded. This may have earned me attention of the Headmaster instead. So stop worrying."
Quash said dismissively in a hushed voice. He didn’t want the people near them hear. Someone may get triggered and it may start a verbal war he wants no part of.
The protagonists of the novels get in trouble because they don’t know how to keep the voice down after all. And he wasn’t like that.
"No. I know that as well. How the Headmaster is. Although I’m not sure about Miss Alicia, but I will belive you on that. But..."
Alan turned his gaze towards the students who was shooting angry and resentful gaze at him. Quash understood what Alan was worried about. There are many suitors of Alicia Fruma. Mainly because of her status as the only granddaughter of the strongest man of history, but her breath taking beauty plaus a large part on attracting males from all walks of life.
"Heh. Those simps can fo nothing other. They don’t have have spine to."
Quash said loudly for enough people to hear. They gritted their teeth, wanting to retaliate but they didn’t want to waste their mental capacity arguing with a person who has such toxic personality. They knew that they will never win in a verbal fight. They have seen the video which made people dub Quash as the god of Curses.
And they won’t lie, it was horrifying in many ways. Even when they weren’t the one at target, the damage was still enough to damage their mental peace.
Do they knew their limits. So they just swallowed the insult and focused on their minds somewhere else.
"See?"
Quash said to Alan with a smug smile. Alan still looked a bit distressed but decided not to say anything further.
He also turned back to monitor the match making hologram. Silence returned between them. But the Battle Hall itself wasn’t quiet. Murmuring of other students overlapping made the atmosphere feel lighter than before.
Quash and Alan sat in silence, wating for their match which haven’t even matched yet. Their name wasn’t on the hologram.
"You’ve changed."
Alan suddenly murmured. Quash raised an eye braw but didn’t say anything. Prompting Alan to continue.
"... You know, if there’s anything bothering you, I’m all ears. You don’t have to bear everything on your on... it’s fine to rely on others sometimes." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Alan said quietly without turning his head towards Quash. Quash turned his head and studied Alan’s side profile for few seconds before turning his head back to the arena. Quash knew that Alan was still feeling guilty about not being there for him when his parents had died. Quash couldn’t gelp but chuckle at his kind hearted friends antics.
"I did change, huh. But not for the reason you might think."
Alan turned his head to look at Quash’s face with a frown. He felt a bit frustrated because he couldn’t force Quash to share his pain, nor could he offer any advice out of the blue.
"Then what reason?"
"I told you didn’t I? I awakened the memories of my past life."
"Fine! Don’t tell me!"
Alan said with a but of contempt which made Quash chuckle. He patted Alan’s shoulder which he shook of.
Quash didn’t bother with him after that because someone else seemed to have grown a spine.
"Heh~. Would you look at that~. The so called Rising star is living in such delusion. Should I call an asylum for you? I can pay for the trip if you want."
"Hahahaha~~." X n.
Quash turned to look behind him with a raised eye braw. A small smile marred his face.
"Oh yeah? And what about you? Should I tell Alicia that you’re trying to get into her grandfather’s bed through her?"
"Wha-!? Basterd do you know who I am!?"
The dude replied back baffled beyond compare. Others were the same. But hey marvled at the creativity of this attack. It was multilayered. Quash was calling the person greedy opputunud, insult to his manhood and to his intelligence if he didn’t understand the implications.
It was like an AOE spell, it will effect any one and everyone that has any thoughts about Alicia Fruma. No matter how pure the intention.
"Aww. Did I insult a person with amnesia? Ah! Heavens! Smite me to death!"
Quash sad with a sarcastic laugh.
"YOOUUU-"
The dude exploded in anger but before he could finish his shout, he was pulled into the arena.
"Lol."
Quash laughed. Despite people being angry, they couldn’t hold their chuckle because of the comedic situation.
Quash turned back as well. Not paying anyone any more attention because the hostile environment has already been broken.
Alan once again nudged Quash, worried if it was fine to make enemies like this. Quash just shrugged.
"Stop worrying dude. This is a school what are they gonna do? Kill me? Heh. Bet."
"Mmm. That’s not what I meant but... sigh ~. Whatever. My match is about to start."
Alan said with a sigh. He wanted to say that despite there’s no threat of actual threat, the long term consequences will be severe if they offended someone from an influential family. Their life outside of the Academy City may become hell. At worst case scenario, they might have to change continent to live peacefully.
But he knew for a fact that Quash won’t listen. He could only wait until Quash got humbled somehow.
