Chapter 1452: No Recognition

The colossal pillar of black lightning slammed directly into the center of Nyssara’s chest. The instant it struck unimaginable pain exploded throughout her entire body. It was far worse than anything she had endured during the battle.

The black lightning did not simply destroy her physical vessel. It pierced through the layers of her existence, burning into the cosmic power that sustained this avatar. She didn’t think that was possible.

Only then did Nyssara realize the mistake she had made. She had been too reckless. In her desperation to overwhelm Erend she had rushed directly into his attack and completely exposed herself.

Regret flashed across her mind. But it was already too late.

CRAAACK!!

The center of her chest burst open as countless fractures raced across her humanoid cosmic body. A vast cloud of shimmering black mist poured from the wound in enormous quantities, drifting aimlessly into the air before dispersing across the battlefield.

Nyssara’s eyes widened in horror. Her true power. That leaking mist was not ordinary Magic, it was a portion of the genuine power connected to her real body.

"No..."

Shock completely overtook her. She could only watch helplessly as more and more of her own power escaped into the air beyond her control.

Erend did not give her a single moment to recover. With another deafening roar, he lunged forward once again.

Nyssara instinctively raised both arms and summoned the remaining appendages around her body to defend herself. They surged forward in frantic waves, attempting to stop the maddened Dragonborn.

But they no longer possessed the strength they once had. Every appendage shattered beneath Erend’s black lightning.

BOOM!

BOOM!

One after another, they exploded into fragments before they could even reach him.

Erend crashed into Nyssara once more and drove her back against the ground. The ground shook violently beneath the impact.

Still refusing to surrender, Nyssara gathered every remaining fragment of strength inside her body. With a desperate scream, she swung one of her clawed hands upward.

The attack struck Erend’s left forearm.

A sickening crack echoed across the battlefield as the Dragonborn’s left arm shattered near the wrist. His massive claw separated from the rest of his arm before spinning away into the distance.

Dark blood erupted into the air but Erend did not even flinch. It was as though he had never noticed it. Pain no longer existed for him.

He simply lowered his head and bit into Nyssara’s shoulder with savage force. His jaws tore away another enormous piece of flesh before he ripped it free completely and swallowed it.

Then his remaining right claw slashed downward again and again, peeled away more of Nyssara’s body.

She tried to fight back and raise another appendage. She tried to move.

But nothing on her body responded. Her strength had finally run out. Nyssara could no longer resist.

The enormous humanoid cosmic body began dissolving. Cracks spread across every inch of her black form as countless particles of light drifted away from her.

Her towering body rapidly shrank. The appendages disappeared. The black star within her chest faded.

Moments later, only her final mortal vessel remained. She went back to her gigantic woman form where the avatar had once existed.

She was still pretty big, but compared to her previous forms, she looked fragile. Her long dark hair flowed weakly behind her as cracks continued spreading across her pale skin.

She no longer possessed the strength to continue fighting. Nyssara simply lay there in silence, defeated.

Meanwhile, Erend continued advancing toward her. Black lightning lashed violently around his body as he slowly approached his prey.

His dark eyes contained no mercy or hesitation. Only the instinct to destroy.

Nyssara quietly looked at him. She did not attempt to run or defend herself any longer. She simply accepted what was about to happen.

Before Erend could reach her, three figures suddenly descended from the sky.

"EREND!"

Eccar slammed both hands onto the earth. Immediately, enormous pillars of stone erupted from the ground and wrapped tightly around Erend’s body, binding both of his legs and remaining arm.

At the same time, Aesa thrust both palms forward. Countless layers of ice surged around Erend, freezing over the stone restraints while thick chains of ice wrapped around his wings and torso.

Sylven completed the restraint. Massive thorn-covered vines burst from beneath the earth before coiling around Erend from every direction. The living vines tightened continuously, their thorns digging through gaps between his Dragon Scales as they struggled to hold him in place.

Erend roared. The sound shook the sky. His entire body exploded with black lightning as he fought against the restraints.

The stone pillars cracked, the ice shattered, the vines snapped apart one after another. Even so, Erend was no longer at his peak condition. The relentless battle against Nyssara had consumed an enormous amount of his strength.

Although he still struggled with terrifying force, his movements had slowed enough for the three Dragonborn to restrain him through tremendous effort.

Sweat poured from Eccar’s forehead. Aesa’s arms trembled from continuously reinforcing the frozen restraints. Sylven clenched his teeth as more vines emerged from the earth to replace those Erend destroyed.

"We can’t hold him forever!" Sylven shouted.

"I know!" Eccar answered.

The three Dragonborn immediately established a telepathic connection.

Rather than merely sending words, they poured their own Magic, emotions, and intentions into the connection, hoping their combined wills could penetrate the endless darkness consuming Erend’s mind.

"Erend!"

"Wake up!"

"You’ve already defeated Nyssara!"

"Remember who you are!"

"Remember us!"

"We’re your family!"

Their voices echoed again and again inside Erend’s consciousness. Each message carried warmth, determination, and the memories they had shared together.

For a moment, Erend’s struggling seemed to slow. His body trembled. The black lightning around him flickered.

Hope appeared inside the hearts of the three Dragonborn.

But only for an instant. A deafening roar erupted from Erend once more.

The Black Rage swallowed every word before they could truly reach him.

His dark eyes remained completely devoid of recognition. He no longer saw Eccar, Aesa, or Sylven. He saw only obstacles standing between himself and his prey.
