I Only Wanted A Class In The Apocalypse
Chapter 1991: Fighting for Elite Warriors
"But this is the relay zone. This is where all the different forces send their newly risen armies. Not all of them will be strong, but I’ll find lots of gems among them. Slowly and gradually, I’ll take all of those under my wing and start forming a grand force that will shock them all."
Hye sat his gaze upon the gains his enemies thought were pointless. For anyone else, this might be truly the case. But for Hye, this was a treasure trove. He would use his technique and force the elites to join his side. If this was the gain from two battles, then he knew that after spending a long time here, like a year, the end result would be quite shocking.
He now realised it was good to settle things back there before coming here. If he came here while leaving the Toranks as a threat to his kingdom and people, then he would be forced to act fast and not have the option to wait for a year or even longer.
Deciding on his next course of action, Hye send different messages to his capable leaders. He ordered Sara to stop caring about defending the different bases and leave this task for someone else. Instead, she should take command of a base next to where they arrived here in the first place. She must arrange armies, prepare the teleportation circles, and make sure they were ready to face incoming forces.
He also promised to prepare a list of forces that were on their side. For a moment there, Hye regretted accepting other forces than the Hescos. It would add more trouble to Sara and her forces to identify if the incoming forces were friends or foes. But he eventually stopped his regret, as he knew that without doing so, he would become totally alone when he travelled to other zones.
Going to these zones was a must, he knew that. But he also knew this was a problem for the future. For now, he gave the order for Legend to go and hit the remaining pockets of resistance, while he did his task like normal and added more strong warriors to his side.
Eventually, this crusade ended with total victory. Even if it took way longer than he expected, ten days, it was still worth it. Hye recruited over a million elite warriors now, and a few million weaker forces. Not to mention the Toranks and their side forces had no bases here anymore, had no forces remaining to threaten him.
If they wanted to come here, they had to take the test again, ending up appearing in the middle of nowhere. This might be quite alarming if the Toranks and the forces on their side decided to do it regularly. So Hye decided to spread the few millions he gained over the different bases, and left Legend to pick capable generals to lead these armies with one simple order.
If at any moment an army appeared from thin air, they would strengthen their defences and fight them with the help of the base defences. At the same time, they must report it at once to Hye.
After handling this, Hye turned his attention towards another problem.
"So not all of the neutral forces joined our side... Interesting."
Hye double checked with Moth about the result of his negotiations. After ten days, most of the forces acting neutrally joined hands with them. But there was still a considerable number of forces that refused to do so.
To Hye, the situation was simple: you would either be on my side or you were already my enemy.
Hye didn’t even wait to meet up with Moth; he instantly moved his armies led by Legend, and headed towards those different forces that decided to act neutrally.
Seeing the grand army led by the human coming in their direction finally exposed their true faces. The forces that acted neutrally suddenly joined forces. Hye couldn’t tell if they gathered together as they were on the Toranks’ side, or because they grew greedy and saw a chance to form a second faction to control and divide the relay zone.
In either case, Hye knew they were his enemies. And he didn’t intend to let anyone off the hook or give them time to arrange themselves and grow stronger.
The moment he saw the grand army waiting for him, he grinned.
"That’s how I call a big harvest, hahaha!"
He knew he had missed a great chance when dealing with the Toranks’ main force. They must have had lots of strong and capable warriors back then, yet he was overly focused on crushing them and securing victory above anything else.
But this time, he saw this battle like how he saw others recently; a big dish waiting for him to eat fully and enjoy adding more capable warriors to his side.
So he gave the orders for Legend to send probing attacks, gauge where the strongest enemies were. In a day, the reports flooded his way, and he drew a map of the entire battlefield. Yet this one didn’t include tactics or strategy; it highlighted the locations where the strongest warriors were.
"They did indeed call for their top fighters this time," seeing the large number of places where strong warriors were made, Hye laughed.
He was too excited even to hold himself back anymore. The next morning, he led all the warriors to start the real attack.
When he probed the enemies, they felt confused. They didn’t get the aim behind such useless attempts. If any, they mistook this for a lack of trust from Hye and his forces, thinking their preparations and call for many strong warriors from different zones proved quite useful.
Yet in the end, they wake up on a bitter realisation; Hye wasn’t the type to be stopped by anything!
Even the warriors with strong cultivation bases failed to stop him. Most of them weirdly shifted sides and joined Hye’s army without any logical reasons.
