I Killed the Hero and Took His Achievements - Chapter 32: Spy Who Loved Gold
[Location: Oakland Royal Palace - The War Room]
[Time: 3 Days Post-Lunar Raid]
We were back on the Planet. The Profit Margin was parked in the courtyard.
I sat at the head of the table.
Sylvia (now sporting cool dragon wings she could retract) sat to my right.
Seraphina (Head of Propaganda) sat to my left.
Ahri (Head of Security) was polishing her daggers.
Sparky (Head of R&D) was typing furiously on a holopad.
"Report," I said.
Sparky plugged a drive into the table. ππβ―π¦ππ¦π£πππππ.πβ΄π
"The data we stole from the Moon Base... itβs a goldmine, Boss. Itβs a nightmare."
A holographic map of the Planet appeared. Red dots lit up everywhere. "These are the Sleeper Agents," Sparky explained. "Doppelgangers placed by the Technocracy over the last 50 years."
I scanned the map thoroughly. One dot was in the Merchant Republic of Zimara. One was in the Northern Empire. One... was in the Church of Light.
"Who?" I asked.
Sparky zoomed in on the Church dot.
"Cardinal Benedict."
"The guy next in line for Pope?" Seraphina gasped. "But heβs... heβs the most devout man I know! He feeds orphans and all charity thing!"
"He feeds them lies," I corrected her. "Heβs a robot in a skin suit. Heβs sending data to the Interstellar Species right now."
I tapped the table. "System Override."
[Target: Cardinal Benedict (Unit 734).]
[Action: Rewrite Loyalty Protocol -> Owner: Cain Cross.]
"He was a spy for them," I smiled heinously. "Now? Heβs a spy for me."
I looked at the map again. "This is good."
"Good?" Sylvia blinked. "Our world is infiltrated by the Foreigns!"
"Yes. But now we have the List." I stood up menacingly. "We arenβt going to kill them."
"We arenβt?"
"No. If we kill them, the Technocracy would send new ones, much better ones. Weβre going to Flip them." I pulled out the Technocracy Database (looted from the Moon). "We have their command codes. We have their shutdown phrases. Iβm going to reprogram them. Imagine having the future Pope as a puppet and having the Treasurer of Zimara sending funds directly to my account. Itβs called Insider Trading."
Ahri grinned vilely. "Youβre wicked, Master."
"Iβm talented. Now, speaking of Zimara..." I tapped the map. The Eastern Continent. "We need to go back there."
"Why?" Sylvia asked.
"Because the Auction of Nations is about to start. Every decades, they hold a private auction. They sell kingdoms, artifacts, secrets and more. This year?" I held up a file. "They are selling a Key."
"A Key to what?"
"To the Titanβs Vault. The Titanβs Vault contains the βWorld Engineβ. The machine that controls the planetβs tectonic plates. If I get that..." I smiled vilely. I can literally reshape the map. I can sink the Church into the ocean. I can raise a mountain range around my castle. Itβs the ultimate landscaping tool."
I looked at Ahri.
"Ahri. Do you know why the Merchant Republic is rich?"
"Because they trade?"
"No. Because they have a monopoly on Spice."
"Mana-Spice. Itβs a drug, it boosts magic power. Itβs addictive as hell. Every mage uses it. It only grows in the Volatile Sands. Iβm going to introduce a product." I pulled a small, glowing blue fruit from my inventory.
[Item: Void-Berry]
(Harvested from the Academy Dungeon).
"I synthesized this with Sparky. It has 10x the potency of Mana-Spice. And zero side effects except mild hallucinations of infinite horror. Weβre going to flood the market entirely. And weβre going to become the Drug Cartel of Zimara."

[Location: Zimara]
We teleported back to the desert city. We wore disguises. I was "The Alchemist" and Ahri was my bodyguard.
We met Gallywix (The Goblin Kingpin) in a back alley.
"Gallywix," I said. "How are the ships?"
"They blasted!" Gallywix screamed maniacally, pulling out his pistol. "My fleet! Half my ships blasted away! You absolutely ruined me!"
"Relax," I said. "That was just a beta test." I tossed him a bag of Void-Berries. "Taste this. Youβd love this."
Gallywix paused. He ate one. His eyes dilated. His skin bloomed electric-blue. "Whoa..." he muttered. "I can see..."
"Itβs called Blue Sky1," I lied "I need distribution and you have the network. I give you the supply, you sell it. Letβs say we split fifty-fifty."
Gallywix calculated in his business mind. "This... this will kill the total Spice Trade. They will definitely hunt us down."
"Let them try it. Deal?"
Gallywix grinned evilly, his anger was completely forgotten after that moment. "Deal."

[Day 1]
The product hit the streets. Mages went crazy for it.
"Itβs pure mana! I cast a Fireball and it turned into a tactical Nuke!"
[Day 3]
The Spice Guild panicked. Their sales dropped 60%.
"Who is this βHeisenbergβ1?"
[Day 5]
My bank account exploded.
[+10 Million Gold.]
[+50 Million Gold.]
[Day 7]
The Merchant Council called an emergency meeting.

[The Council of Ten]
Ten fat merchants sat around a table.
"This βBlue Skyβ is ruining us!" The Head Prince shouted. "We must find the supplier!"
"I found him," a shadowy figure said from the corner. It was Subject X-10. The Sleeper Agent I identified earlier. He was posing as the Treasurer. "He is meeting Gallywix tonight at the docks."
"Send the Assassins," The Prince ordered. "Bring me his head."
X-10 smiled. "As you wish."

[The Docks - Midnight]
I stood by the water while waiting for them patiently.
Gallywix was shaking profusely. "Theyβre coming, Cain. The Sand Vipers, theyβre the best killers in the East."
"I know that," I acknowledged.
Twenty assassins emerged from the shadow, they wore desert cloak. "You deserve hell, pusher1," the Leader hissed.
I laughed maniacally. "System. Activate [Protocol: Order 66]." I pressed a button on my Technocracy Datapad.
The "Assassin Bot" (TP-10) suddenly stepped out from behind the assassins.
"Sir?" The assassins looked confused as he was their ally. "What are you doing here?"
TP-10βs eyes flashed red. His programming was completely overwritten. "Protecting the Leader," TP-10 said mechanically. He drew two hidden blades. SLASH. In a blur of motion, he instantly decapitated two assassins.
"Traitor!" The Leader screamed resoundingly.
Chaos, absolute chaos I created.
The assassins fought their own ally.
I watched while eating a Void-Berry.
"Ahri," I said. "Help him out."
Ahri jumped into the fight. Fox Fire + Cyborg Assassin = Total Wipeout.
In just two minutes, the docks went silent.
TP-10 knelt before me. "Awaiting orders, Commander Cain."
I looked at Gallywix mockingly. His jaw was completely on the floor.
"You... Do you own the βAssassin Botβ?"
"I own the The Data," I corrected him.
"Tomorrow is the Auction."
