I Have a Dice Left by a God
Chapter 515 - 107: Becoming an Apprentice
Mordo and Philson entered the room, finally feeling the warmth of the human world. They couldn’t help but shiver, and carefully took out a box, "Mr. Li, this is for you from the Dean."
The one whom Mordo called the Dean was naturally the demigod Vladimir.
"Thank the demigod for me," Li Xin said with a smile, accepting the gift, "Xueyin, greet Grandmaster Mordo and Grandmaster Philson."
Immediately, Lin Xueyin obediently greeted them, blinking her big eyes with a bit of curiosity, glancing at the two grandmasters and then at Li Xin.
"Go make some tea," Li Xin said.
Xueyin obediently went, and Mordo and Philson sat, looking at each other.
Philson stood up and bowed, to which Li Xin quickly got up to block him, "Both grandmasters, by now we are old friends, just speak directly if there’s anything."
Xueyin, in the kitchen, nearly dropped the kettle in her hand. How much did Ah Xin owe these people to make them so desperate?
Mordo smiled bitterly, "Mr. Li, ever since the Heart Learning emerged, the world has been shaken. We’ve been pondering it deeply but couldn’t understand. We felt like we’d go astray if we continued like this, so we boldly came here to seek guidance."
"What have you heard?" Li Xin asked curiously.
"The heart is reason, the unity of knowledge and action, and perfecting good knowledge," Mordo said word by word.
"Just that?"
"Just that!" Mordo said very assuredly.
The explanation had already been told to Miss Aries. It seemed that Vladimir truly hadn’t made it public; the intentions of a demigod were hard to guess.
Xueyin came over, poured tea for the two grandmasters, then obediently sat beside them, looking a lot like she was witnessing village gossip unfold.
"I just heard it somewhere, I’ll say whatever, you listen however," Li Xin said, "The heart is reason, outside the heart there is no reason, no matter, no affairs."
"Unity of knowledge and action, knowledge is the beginning of action, action is the fulfillment of knowledge; this was said before."
"Perfecting good knowledge, the heart in its substance has no good or evil, intention has good and evil, knowing good and evil is good knowledge, doing good and avoiding evil is investigating things."
With every sentence, Mordo’s eyes brightened, while Philson’s expression grew heavier. The two grandmasters fell into deep thought. Meanwhile, Xueyin tugged on Li Xin, blinking her curious big eyes. Had these two gone mad?
Li Xin gently waved his hand.
Li Xin and Xueyin slowly drank their tea, waiting. The two grandmasters sat like stone statues, immobile. Who knew how long had passed before Xueyin, seeing them deep in thought, couldn’t help but quietly say, "Wasn’t all that rambling basically about cultivating the heart through learning and practice to become a better version of oneself?"
Li Xin paused, looking at Xueyin, "You understand?"
Xueyin rolled her eyes, "There was a time when Mom used to talk to herself every day. Who do you think you’re looking down on?"
Philson trembled, sighed deeply, and opened his eyes, unbelievingly looking at Lin Xueyin, "Mr. Li, does this child have a master?"
"No, Xueyin is still in Grace Class, but she’s quite mischievous and has trouble focusing," Li Xin said. In Grace Class, Xueyin might not have been causing trouble, but she’s really not the learning type.
"This child’s wisdom has already opened. The Grace Class education is no longer suitable for her. If you don’t mind, would she be willing to join the Celestial Academy? I would be willing to take her as a personal disciple." Philson offered.
Li Xin was overjoyed, "This is Xueyin’s fortune. We will find an auspicious day to take Xueyin to formally become your disciple."
This was a formal apprenticeship, and couldn’t be taken lightly. Xueyin, however, pouted, thinking, "What’s all this fuss, does anyone care about me, the person involved? Another teacher? I hate studying the most."
Philson enviously looked at Mordo, who still had his eyes closed. He knew his cultivation wasn’t on par with Mordo’s, but he didn’t expect the gap to be this wide. The demigod’s discerning eye was indeed sharp.
The four people in the living room sat in silence, with Xueyin restlessly glancing at one, then the other, pondering in her mind whether becoming this teacher’s disciple would mean she wouldn’t have to go to Grace Class anymore. If that was the case, it would be a good thing, as she detested acting with a bunch of kids every day. These people were strange, and they even glowed, flickering here and there. Wouldn’t that save on lighting at night?
After another while, Mordo restrained his aura, slowly opened his eyes, and looked at Li Xin, "Sir, what is the heart?"
"The true nature of the heart is the Heavenly Dao," Li Xin replied.
"The true heart is the Heavenly Dao."
"The true heart is the Heavenly Dao."
Mordo interlaced his four fingers parallel to each other and raised them to his forehead, performing a great salute. Li Xin tried to stop him but failed. At this moment, Mordo was surrounded by Vast Power.
"Mr. Li, should I achieve something someday, it will be all thanks to you." Mordo said.
"Grandmaster, if you achieve anything, it’s due to your own cultivation. The Heavenly Dao is there; I’m just a messenger," Li Xin replied.
Mordo and Philson exchanged a smile, realizing that, just as the demigod had said, the saints all act like this.
The two didn’t stay long, and after bidding farewell to Li Xin, they left. Li Xin and Xueyin watched their carriage depart, with Philson reminding them to let Xueyin seek him.
After closing the door, Li Xin and Xueyin exchanged a glance and suddenly, as if at the same time, rushed into the house, neither willing to give way. As they neared the door, Xueyin pulled ahead and burst into the room, eagerly opening the box.
Something from Vladimir, seeing how solemn they were, it must be something valuable. Upon opening the box, Xueyin’s excitement deflated like a punctured balloon, her eyes filled with disdain.
Inside the box was a book, "Inheritance Record," written in the Hera Language. In terms of texture... it seemed like a Secret Item, but upon opening, it was blank inside.
"Do they even know how to give gifts? Who sends a book? So stingy," Xueyin pouted, "Ah Xin, you really want me to become a disciple? Is the Celestial Principle School fun?"
"At least you won’t have to attend Grace Class anymore, unless you prefer going there?" Li Xin jested, picking up the "Inheritance Record."
"No, I want to be a disciple!" Lin Xueyin’s big eyes swirled with excitement. Wouldn’t that mean no more homework?
Perfect!
The feel of the "Inheritance Record" was peculiar. Upon opening it again, it was filled with dense text, directly imprinting itself in Li Xin’s mind. Although he saw it with his eyes, he didn’t actually need them to read it. It roughly documented the birth of the Celestial Principle School, its theories, and classic cases.
With another flip, the text disappeared, and the "Inheritance Record" returned to being blank.
Li Xin rolled it up, waved it like a sword, but no sword energy emerged, indicating it wasn’t a weapon. A pity, as he didn’t have many treasures and hoped the demigod would provide some heirloom items.
He knew cultured people liked to give books, but he preferred things that glittered and shone.
Li Xin placed the "Inheritance Record" into the Yazama Karashi. In some respects, he and Xueyin truly were alike.
He certainly wasn’t following the Heavenly Dao path, so whether it was Heart Learning or anything else, it couldn’t enhance his power. Li Xin didn’t know what Vladimir’s true intentions were; he couldn’t discern the moral boundaries of this world’s deities. He generally agreed with Kathy’s approach, and since he admired the fundamental nature of the Celestial Principle School, he maintained a connection but always kept his distance.
He wondered if he was being overly cautious and suddenly felt a slight twinge of regret, agreeing too hastily. He should have discussed it with Aunt Fei and Sister Kathy. Perhaps subconsciously, among the various schools and religions, he was more inclined towards the Celestial Principle School.
