I Got Cheated On and Ended Up in A Beast World
Chapter 78 - Seventy-Eight: Idiotic Males
Lin Wan rested her back heavily against the headboard of the bed, her breath coming in slow, shallow hitches.
The internal energy that had been violently tearing through her body just moments ago had finally settled into a dull, throbbing ache, but the world outside was expanding into absolute madness.
She turned her head slightly, her gaze passing through the small square opening of the wooden window.
The twilight had vanished completely in the span of a few heartbeats. It was suddenly deep, suffocating night.
The sky above was a swirling abyss of angry, bruised purple clouds, so thick and low that they felt like a heavy ceiling pressing down on the canopy of the forest.
Through the gaps in the roaring wind, the terrified, panicked voices of the Orycto tribesmen echoed from the square below.
She could hear the heavy thudding of their feet against the dirt as they ran frantically for shelter, calling out to their young and trying to barricade themselves inside the wooden huts.
A heavy, suffocating wave of guilt pressed down on Lin Wan’s chest. She closed her eyes, imagining the exact same scene of terror playing out across every single corner of the primitive beastworld, the flying beastmen crashing into the mountains, the ground beasts hiding in deep caves, all of them weeping and praying for survival.
And it was all because of her children. Her three tiny, shifting boys were causing so much cosmic trouble before they had even taken their first breaths of fresh air.
She looked down at the three tiny, smooth-skinned human infants wiggling silently against the animal furs. She didn’t even know what exactly to call them anymore.
They weren’t just leopards, and they definitely weren’t ordinary beastmen. How had she given birth to a mermaid baby?
The pieces of the puzzle suddenly began to click together in her mind with a sharp, logical snap. It could only mean one thing. Wang was half mermaid.
The realization forced her mind to race backward, recalling the very first time she had ever laid eyes on the golden leopard. He had saved her from the dark, rushing depths of the river.
Come to think of it, he had been breathing underwater perfectly for hours without showing a single sign of distress. How had she been so incredibly blind?
How had she never thought about that? And then there was his terrifying strength, his ability to completely stun a aquatic phantom beast of that massive size.
In this world, a water-based phantom beast was easily thrice the size of any land phantom beast, yet a simple leopard had knocked it out with a single strike.
Somehow, back then, she had just carelessly chugged it up as him being a powerful, high-grade beastman.
The more she thought about it now, the more a sharp, burning spark of anger and raw hurt began to twist inside her chest.
Why hadn’t Wang told her the truth? He knew she was pregnant. He knew the sheer weight of what she was carrying, because Elder Shen had personally descended from the upper realms to snatch her away specifically because of the incredible power dormant inside these cubs.
Wang knew exactly what he was, he knew the danger of his own divine bloodline, and he had still left her entirely alone in this wild, predatory world.
He hadn’t even cared enough to return or find a way to check up on her safety. And yet, he had looked into her eyes and told her that he loved her.
’Is this my fate?’ Lin Wan thought, a bitter, cold smile touching her lips as her eyes misted over. ’Am I truly destined never to find true love in any life? Why do I always meet men like Chen Wei, men who hide big secrets and abandon me when things become to hard?’
She let out a soft, trembling sigh that was instantly swallowed by the roaring thunder outside.
Somewhere deep within her chest, the warm, emotional core of her heart began to cool down rapidly.
The lingering vulnerability she had felt as a frightened, pregnant female began to harden.
Layer by layer, invisible walls of different hardness and solid stone began to construct themselves around her heart, sealing her emotions away behind an elite soldier’s defense. She was done being a victim of secrets.
She didn’t say a single word aloud to the two men hovering over the bed. Right now, the situation was too critical, and she couldn’t hide her capabilities anymore.
With a pale, steady hand, Lin Wan reached out and gently touched the soft skin of her three sleeping babies.
In a fraction of a second, a soft ripple of silver light passed over the bed, and the three cubs completely vanished from sight.
Qin Mo and Long Zhan froze instantly, their mouths dropping wide open in absolute, stunned disbelief.
They stared at the empty animal furs, their eyes scanning the blanket as if their minds were refusing to process the sudden disappearance.
"What happened?!" Qin Mo choked out, his silver aura flaring up in a sudden, violent panic as he lunged forward, his hands gripping the sheets. "Wanwan! Where are the cubs? How did they disappear?!"
Long Zhan’s violet eyes turned bloodshot as he slammed his fist against the bedpost, his draconic senses wildly reaching out into the room. "Was it a spatial tear? Did someone snatch them right from my hands?!"
"Calm down," Lin Wan said, her voice dropping into an eerily calm, steady tone that instantly halted their frantic movements. She looked at them with cold, unwavering eyes. "They are in a safe place. No one took them."
Mentally, Lin Wan cast her awareness backward, looking directly into the pocket space of her black box mansion.
Inside one of the massive master bedrooms on the second floor, resting securely on the plush, modern mattress under the soft cotton sheets, her three little boys were tucked in safely, sleeping soundly without a single care in the world.
She opened her eyes and looked back out the wooden window, expecting the violent sky to brighten up now that the divine presence of the cubs had been erased from the room.
But to her horror, the purple vortex above the cottage only grew darker, the crimson lightning flashing with an even more vicious, frenzied speed.
A sudden, heavy intuition pressed into her mind. The heavens weren’t calming down; they were deeply pissed off that they could no longer sense the divine children, and the cosmic energy wanted to vent its fury regardless of who was left on the surface.
If she stayed here, the entire village would be reduced to ash within minutes. She didn’t know what to do next, but she knew she had to act immediately.
She looked at the two powerful sovereigns standing before her. Reaching out with both of her hands, she firmly grabbed Long Zhan’s right hand and Qin Mo’s left hand, drawing their attention.
"Mark me," Lin Wan said, her voice tight and unyielding. "Right now. Do it."
She needed them to establish the official mate bond immediately. Her mind had already calculated the parameters: the only way she could transport living beastmen into her secure pocket space was if they were legally bound to her soul as official mates.
Once they were safe inside the mansion, she could use her spatial teleportation talismans to vanish from the cottage entirely, drawing the cosmic thunder to a desolate, empty wasteland far away from where innocent people resided.
But to Qin Mo and Long Zhan, her desperate words carried a completely different, heartbreaking meaning.
Hearing her demand the mate mark in the middle of a world-ending storm, the two sovereigns believed with absolute certainty that Lin Wan feared they wouldn’t survive the night.
They thought she believed the heavens were going to crush them all, and that she simply wanted them to be officially bound as ONE, united in body and soul even in the cold grip of death.
Neither of them said a single word. Their eyes turned a deep, painful red filled with overwhelming self-reproach and silent agony. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
They were supposed to be the strongest rulers of their respective realms. They had stood before her and proudly promised to protect her, to guard her, and to shield her cubs from the entire universe.
Yet now, facing the raw fury of the sky, they were completely powerless to stop the storm. They could do nothing but fulfill what they believed to be her final, tragic wish.
At the exact same moment, both kings leaned down over her hands. Qin Mo took her left hand, and Long Zhan took her right.
With a synchronized, deep breath, they bit down hard into her skin, their sharp fangs puncturing her wrists to pour their sovereign blood into her veins, sealing the ancient mate vow.
As the crimson blood merged, both males made a silent, heavy vow within the deep recesses of their hearts: ’Even if the earth shatters today, I swear to find Wanwan first in our next lives.’
