I Can Extract Divine Power
Chapter 206 - 124: Destroying the Dark Hall, Nightmare
Upon reaching Level 4, the Poison Avoidance and Rejuvenation Skill not only doubled its previous stats but also gained a new Attribute: Poison Attachment.
Simply put, the Poison Attachment Attribute allowed him to imbue weapons or Divine Powers with poison.
Furthermore, the poison was formed from Qi, giving him nearly complete control to create whatever he wished within the Attribute’s limits.
Shen Bai could make it into any poison he desired.
This special poison-imbuing technique would catch his enemies off guard and significantly bolster Shen Bai’s combat strength.
This was not an Attribute to be underestimated. Shen Bai felt it would be of great use to him.
Especially when it came to capturing a member of the Dark Hall alive.
With every assassination attempt from the Dark Hall, Shen Bai either killed the assassin, or the assassin committed suicide in a flash.
This time, however, would be different.
’If you come looking for trouble again, I’ll be sure to take one of you alive,’ Shen Bai thought.
’Strange, today’s assassination attempt hasn’t happened yet. Have they run out of people?’
Every day, there were one or two waves of assassinations, liable to happen at any moment.
But today was different. So far, Shen Bai hadn’t seen a single person come to assassinate him.
He almost thought they had given up their assassination attempts.
But Shen Bai knew that while the Dark Hall and the Upper Evil Sect were both foul rats of the same ilk, their natures were different.
The Upper Evil Sect was small, but the Dark Hall’s members were countless.
Even if their members’ skills varied wildly, with some being quite weak, their numbers still far surpassed those of the Upper Evil Sect.
Therefore, it was impossible that a few failed assassination attempts could have caused the Dark Hall to suffer heavy losses.
’Perhaps they’ll be here soon. But first, I should get something to eat.’
With that in mind, as the sky grew darker, Shen Bai mulled it over for a moment before heading out to eat dinner.
...
Naturally, nothing happened on his way to dinner.
After he finished eating and left, the streets were mostly empty.
After all, night had fallen. People needed to go home and rest to prepare for the hustle and bustle of the coming day.
On the way back, moonlight was the only source of light.
Every so often, the sound of a gong would echo, followed by the night watchman’s call, the only stirring sounds in the dark night.
Shen Bai walked along the empty streets, cutting through several alleys.
Just as he was getting closer to his house, something unusual happened.
From an alley not far ahead, a man dressed as a drunkard staggered toward him.
The man carried a wine jug in his left hand, his face flushed red, looking for all the world like he was truly intoxicated.
Shen Bai watched the staggering man, his expression unchanging. His eyes, however, held a flicker of interest, though he concealed it well.
The distance between them shrank. Just as the man was about to reach Shen Bai, he suddenly stepped on a loose stone and stumbled, falling right toward him.
They were very close. Anyone else might have instinctively reached out to help, but Shen Bai just watched the staggering drunkard as a golden Buddha’s Light flared up from his left hand.
Within the Buddha’s Light, a wisp of green energy swirled, like a piece of pure jade embedded in gold.
The entire sequence took less than half a breath. Shen Bai’s palm was already pressed against the man’s chest.
BANG!
With a shower of blood, the man with the wine jug was sent flying backward. He rolled several times on the ground before glaring at Shen Bai with venomous eyes.
Shen Bai said coolly, "No commoner would be carrying such fine wine. Next time you put on an act, try to make it a little less conspicuous."
Even from a distance, Shen Bai could smell the wine’s aroma, which told him the jug was quite valuable.
Most importantly, the man was dressed in simple cloth; he clearly couldn’t afford a wine of that quality.
That was why Shen Bai had determined at a glance that this man was an assassin from the Dark Hall, sent to kill him.
Shen Bai had struck as fast as lightning. Though the man had been lunging toward him, he was no match for Shen Bai’s speed.
After Shen Bai spoke, the Dark Hall assassin, who had been silent until now, finally stirred.
The assassin sat up, clutching his chest. His features contorted as if he were experiencing something utterly terrifying.
Seeing Shen Bai approach, the Dark Hall assassin gritted his teeth and began to circulate the Qi in his body.
But just then, Shen Bai’s calm voice drifted over, making the assassin’s face show a flicker of astonishment.
"Thinking of killing yourself again?"
"Using that special suicide technique of yours? Channeling Qi throughout your body to make it boil like fire and scorch all your internal organs?"
At these words, the Dark Hall assassin’s expression froze.
He ignored Shen Bai and tried to channel the Qi in his body once more.
But a moment later, he froze.
The reason was simple: a paralyzing numbness washed over his entire body.
A wave of weakness flooded him, so complete that he couldn’t even move a single finger.
Even the most brutal torture couldn’t stop an assassin from channeling their own Qi.
But now, the Dark Hall assassin discovered that no matter how hard he tried, his Qi felt as if it no longer belonged to him. He couldn’t channel even the slightest wisp of it.
"Poison! You poisoned me!" A look of dread appeared on the Dark Hall assassin’s face.
Shen Bai continued to walk forward, his blade, Cold Moon, glinting ominously under the moonlight. "I’ve tried many times. Even after I cripple all your meridians, you can still channel the Qi in your bodies. So, this time, I’ll just make it so you can’t channel your Qi at all."
