Chapter 38: Betrayal And An Insane Battle!

Although Timothy had a nasty tongue, he didn’t seem to have a bad character. He rushed over to help Serra when he found the latter in trouble. But the outcome was nothing surprising. Upon clashing, he was sent flying by the Tyrant zombie, tumbling far away across the street and stopping only when he hit a wall. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Timothy bent his back like a shrimp, his hands clasping his abdomen. His mouth was filled with blood and there was cold sweat covering his forehead. The grimace he wore spoke volumes of the pain.

"Be patient. Once I kill Serra, I’ll send you off to hell," Stanford said coldly, as the dagger in his hand stabbed at Serra’s vital spot.

Serra was fighting two adversaries alone, and she wasn’t even at the Legendary stage. By relying solely on the armor, it was taxing on her to hold out in battle. The golden armor that encased her was damaged in multiple places and blood seeped through. However, she was a tenacious person. Despite such a perilous situation, she was still able to maintain clarity in thought and avoided most of the lethal strikes.

Unfortunately, she was already multiple levels lower than the Tyrant zombie and two levels lower than Stanford. With Stanford making opportunistic jabs at her, every second placed her in extreme peril. If not for the potent defensive capabilities of her armor and the Holy Elven Mother Art’s ability to slow down the deterioration of her injuries, she would have long been killed.

After watching for a moment, Igris suddenly shouted at Serra, "Serra! If I can help you distract the Tyrant zombie, how long will it take for you to finish off Stanford?"

Igris’s words shocked the trio. In this battle, it was no longer something that a person at the Mortal stage could interfere in, much less that of a regular high-schooler. Timothy imagined that Igris was mad, but unfortunately, he didn’t have the energy to say a word. Otherwise, he would definitely have ridiculed Igris. Stanford didn’t share the same thoughts; he didn’t believe Igris was capable of the proclaimed feat. He believed that Igris would be sending himself to his death if he really rushed over to help Serra.

"90 seconds. I need that much time," Serra said as she fought for her life. There was no hesitation in her voice.

"Alright. Then, I’ll give you 100 seconds." Igris cracked his neck and headed for the battlefield.

Igris picked up his pace and entered the battlefield in a most ingenious manner, appearing behind the Tyrant zombie. The Tyrant zombie keenly noticed Igris’s appearance and gave up attacking Serra. It struck backward, transforming the bone spur in its elbow into a cold spear that stabbed at Igris’s head.

Igris immediately conjured his blade and slashed at the bone spur.

"Ding!"

Igris felt a massive jolt pass through his entire body as his arm and entire torso went numb. Just then, the Tyrant turned towards him and blasted a fist directly at his face.

Igris’s face changed slightly. If the fist landed, he would explode into meat paste. He could feel his face hurting from the wind pressure of the fist.

Igris immediately slapped his left palm forward.

"Tempest Wind Blade!"

Instantly, Igris’s arm lit up with blue energy as the three circuits of runes on his forearm glowed to life, surrounding his arm like a gauntlet made of energy lines. Instantly, three wind blades three meters in height shot out of the energy circle and blasted at the Tyrant.

At such close distance, it couldn’t dodge. The Tyrant hurriedly crossed its arms as the three blades sliced through its first arm.

"Ding!" "Ding!" "Ding!"

Its left arm was instantly fully severed!

"Rooooooar!"

The Tyrant roared angrily in pain.

At this time, Timothy struggled to his feet as he looked at Igris with a look of disbelief. Igris had actually managed to hold back the Tyrant zombie and even severed one arm in just less than 3 seconds!

The Tyrant attacked with renewed vigor as it punched out. Igris struck out.

"Ding!"

He was immediately forced back three steps backwards, but he immediately activated Sword Momentum. He guided the resultant force of the collision and swung his blade like a pendulum, striking from another angle.

"Ding!"

Sparks echoed as Igris slashed at the Tyrant’s remaining fist.

Timothy knew how difficult it was. He had the same idea as Igris earlier, hoping to hold back the Tyrant zombie to give Serra time to finish off Stanford. However, he had been swept away the moment he approached the Tyrant zombie and nearly died from severe injuries. Thinking back to his mockery of Igris, his originally pale face blushed an abnormal red.

Stanford was alarmed to see Igris hold back the Tyrant zombie. Despite all his plans, he had never expected a level 5 Super Soldier high-schooler to be capable of holding back a Tyrant zombie. In fact, Stanford long knew of the existence of the Tyrant zombie in the vicinity. He had planned on taking Serra nearby and letting the Tyrant zombie finish her off. Unfortunately, this plan had been foiled by Igris. Stanford had no choice but to take action himself, but he ultimately failed.

While Igris was holding back the Tyrant zombie, Serra had already rushed towards Stanford. She unleashed a barrage of punches that shimmered like shooting stars at him. She knew that it wasn’t pragmatic to expect Igris to hold back the Tyrant zombie for extended periods of time. She had to finish off Stanford before Igris was killed by the Tyrant zombie.

Stanford now truly realized how terrifying this intemperate scion, Serra, was. Despite using similar wood weapons—even with him having two—he was still completely overpowered by Serra.

"I don’t believe I can’t last 90 seconds. You’re two levels lower than me!" Stanford battled Serra with gritted teeth.

Bang!

In less than twenty seconds, Stanford was hit on the chest by Serra, snapping the pendant in half. The color in Stanford’s face drained as he rapidly retreated. However, upon seeing Serra pursue him like a leech, his eyes flashed with a ruthless glint. With a swing of his left arm, the green blade spat out a brightly-colored blue-green venomous snake that tore out from his arm, coiling towards the pursuing Serra.

Seizing this opportunity, Stanford pushed his speed to the limit, allowing him to traverse four to five meters. He was attacking Igris from behind with a dagger!

"Ah!" This sudden development caused Timothy to cry out. Igris was already in a perilous situation while holding back the Tyrant zombie. Now, with Stanford sneaking an attack on him, death seemed inevitable for him.

Serra was alarmed and furious as well. However, with the Explosive Scaled Snake blocking her, she didn’t have the time to rescue Igris.

While the Tyrant’s fist thrust forward at lightning speed, a dagger stabbed at Igris’s skull from the back. At this critical moment, Igris activated the Ground Shrinking Technique.

The bone spear stabbed at Igris, just brushing past his cheek. This left a faint wound on Igris’s cheek, but he remained stoic. At the same time, he took a step sideways. Instantly, the ground beneath him seemed to shrink rapidly as he felt massive resistance against his feet, but he broke through it and stomped his foot to the ground.

Just then, the dagger immediately stabbed into his skull.

"Igris!" Serra roared in anger, fury, and disbelief. Timothy gasped and his eyes glazed over. He couldn’t believe Igris would die just like that.

As the foot landed, Igris’s body flashed as he vanished! Everyone’s face changed slightly as they saw Igris’s body, which had been stabbed, disappear like an afterimage as the Tyrant’s fist landed.

It was as though he was a ghost as he reappeared behind Stanford and punched at him.

"10x Mutiplier!"

Stanford quickly turned back with incredible speed and slashed backwards. A look of mockery flashed in Stanford’s eyes.

Although he had used the ultimate skill of his Epic blade, the extra stats it gave him wasn’t something a Null Talent like Igris could handle. Furthermore, the jade dagger was made of special materials.

Not only did it have the ability to kill dimensional creatures, but it also had a terrifying sharpness to it.

"Die!" Stanford steeled his heart as he exerted all his Strength, gathering it at the blade tip. He wanted to slice through Igris’s fingers.

"Igris! Don’t try to block it!" Serra cried out in panic. Timothy wanted to speak but he spat out another mouthful of blood—a result of his anxiety, not his injuries.

At the instant the fist and blade met, a massive force tore the air as the wind shrieked and screamed, as though in pain.

"Crack!"

The mighty force tore through the blade as cracks rapidly extended, shattering the entire dagger, turning it into countless fragments.

"Bang!"

Igris’s punch didn’t pause as it struck Stanford’s dagger-wielding fist. It smashed the bones in his hand and arm. The fractured bone tore out of Stanford’s flesh as blood gushed out. His arm popped like popcorn as he flew out with a tragic cry.
