I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 293 - 257: Chose the Wrong Path
Ju Han: "The Oasis Mother Tree asked me to tell you something. The spaceship’s energy is depleted, which is why she lost contact with it. If you try to force the entrance open, you’ll need the power of a god-level being."
"The right way to do it is to charge the spaceship. Once it has enough energy and its core systems are back online, the Mother Tree will re-establish her connection. Then, she’ll help you open the entrance."
Su Ze: "How do we charge it? And with what?"
Ju Han: "There’s a slight indentation about ten meters above the entrance. That’s the ship’s charging port. Any form of energy can be used—electricity, light, heat, and so on."
Su Ze: "How am I supposed to get a ship this big back to the Oasis? Am I supposed to fly it? I don’t have a spaceship license."
Ju Han: "Once you’re inside, the Mother Tree will guide you."
Su Ze: "I understand. Will the Oasis Commerce Association be sending anyone?"
Ju Han: "No."
’Su Ze thought for a moment and understood. The Oasis Commerce Association must also want to help the Mother Tree get this ship, but their strength isn’t on the same level as the six kingdoms, never mind trying to compete with the Sovereign Country.’
’The six kingdoms could make the first move because they’ve always been vassals of the Sovereign Country. But if the Oasis Commerce Association tried to get involved, they would just be overstepping their bounds.’
’Although the Oasis Commerce Association had Saint-level Overlords, it seemed they only had one or two. The only reason they remained standing was because they were backed by the Mother Tree. Within her own domain, the Mother Tree was nearly invincible, rivaling even legendary powerhouses.’
’As long as the Oasis Commerce Association stayed in the Miracle Oasis region, it was a first-rate power. But outside the Miracle Oasis, they probably wouldn’t even count as a third-rate one.’
After hanging up, Su Ze walked a little closer to the giant "emerald."
He finally saw the entrance on the seamless-looking emerald. It was a door of a slightly darker green than the surrounding hull, almost unnoticeable unless you looked closely. Next to the door, however, was a square panel. It was also green, but stood out more clearly.
The green panel looked like some kind of verification and unlocking device. He wasn’t sure if it was for fingerprints, irises, or something else. The Great Desert Kingdom’s technical department had previously tried to open the ship by hacking this very panel, but they had obviously failed.
Su Ze’s gaze shifted upward. Sure enough, about ten meters above the entrance, he spotted a very faint indentation. ’This must be the charging port Ju Han mentioned.’
Gu Chengguang was chatting cheerfully with Jasim, the King of the Great Desert Kingdom and Atago’s father. When he saw Su Ze approaching, he quickly asked, "How did it go?"
Since Su Ze had altered his appearance, Jasim didn’t recognize him as the genius who had recently made a name for himself on the Lin Hua Continent. He just found it a little strange that Gu Chengguang was paying so much attention to him.
Su Ze nodded. Pointing to the charging port above the entrance, he explained how to open it. He didn’t mention the Oasis Mother Tree, however, saying only that the entrance would open once the ship was charged.
Gu Chengguang looked to Jasim beside him. "Then let’s get a move on. Find some people with Electric, Light, and Fire Skills. We’ll charge the ship together."
Jasim had no idea where Su Ze could have learned how to open the spaceship and was deeply skeptical. But since Gu Chengguang had spoken, and he had no better ideas himself, he agreed to give it a try.
"I can’t help with this," Li Fayi said, shaking his head and stepping aside. His skills were all geared toward close-quarters brawling, so he was often derided as a brute.
Su Ze and Mr. Ya also fell back to Li Fayi’s side. In truth, they could have helped if they had gone all out.
Mr. Ya could have tried his "Void" skill; he might have been able to pass right through the hull without even opening the entrance. But that was his trump card.
If Su Ze expanded to his maximum size, he could provide a massive amount of electricity, but if he drained his power, it would take a long time to replenish.
So, both of them chose to stand back and watch, letting the others handle it.
...
The Great Desert Kingdom had the home-field advantage, so they had sent a total of four Saint-level Overlords.
Besides King Jasim, the other three Overlords were all chieftains of large tribes.
The Great Desert Kingdom was a nation formed from a coalition of tribes, and Jasim was the king they had all chosen to lead them.
At Jasim’s command, four evolvers—including one Saint-level Overlord—were quickly assembled. They flew up to the ship’s charging port and unleashed their attacks on it simultaneously.
One spat flames while another unleashed lightning. The panel next to the entrance flickered faintly before dimming again.
Jasim’s eyes lit up. They hadn’t succeeded, but the panel’s reaction gave him hope. It was only then that he was certain Su Ze’s method would work.
"Put more power into it!" Jasim encouraged them.
One Overlord and three Butterfly Stage evolvers put everything they had into attacking the ship’s charging port.
Gu Chengguang also flew up. A pure beam of light shot from his palm, shining onto the charging port.
This time, the ship finally responded. A mottled green light began to shine from within the emerald hull...
"Quickly, everyone, all at once!" Jasim hurriedly called on everyone around them. Even those who didn’t have energy-based attacks could help by simply injecting their evolutionary power. Evolutionary power was still a form of energy.
Su Ze and Mr. Ya also flew up, putting on a show. A small current of electricity trickled from Su Ze’s palm, feeding into the ship.
This was a charging process. There was no telling how long it would take for the "powered-down" ship to fully "reboot."
