Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend
Chapter 780 - 216: Ian of Myth and Mutation (Part 3)
Merlin looked as if he had already glimpsed the future.
"That’s because you see the path ahead. As a twelve-year-old legend, of course, you have enough time and ability to explore higher levels. To become a legend, one needs to leave one’s own story, to become part of history. But, what lies beyond legend?"
His tone was unhurried, with a mysterious smile like that of Detective Conan.
Ian seemed thoughtful.
But Merlin didn’t give him much time to ponder.
"In my view, you’ve upgraded the way to achieve legend. You choose to intervene in higher-level stories, to become part of myth. This may be the path to deity that you have found," Merlin directly provided an answer, at least one that seemed very possible to him.
"Become part of myth?"
Ian raised his eyebrow.
It did sound quite plausible.
"Yes, integrating into myth, becoming myth, perhaps naturally opens the path to deity. However, there’s one thing that still confuses me. I haven’t found Medivh’s behavior of collecting faith, which obviously contradicts the necessary conditions for becoming a deity I understand. Without the support of faith, one cannot ignite the divine fire."
After saying this, Merlin himself fell into confusion, furrowing his brow with a puzzled look, desperately reviewing whether he missed any key issues.
"Uh..."
Upon hearing this, Ian’s eyes flickered slightly.
"Perhaps, ahead of legend... is not deity?"
Ian said softly.
His tone carried a hint of uncertainty.
"What do you mean?"
Merlin was rather surprised and looked at the little wizard again.
"I don’t know how to describe it, but I feel that what I see ahead is still wizardry... Wizards are the true direction with infinite possibilities."
"My teacher told me, wizards are akin to gods, and now I think a wizard’s end is definitely not confined to being gods, as infinite possibilities also imply..."
Ian paused slightly.
"My will is the will of heaven."
He was somewhat euphemistic in saying this.
After all.
Wizards emphasize the realization of one’s desires, and such power has always, even throughout numerous legends and myths, belonged only to the one who stands at the actual pinnacle—the Creator.
Whether such a being exists or not is unknown.
"Hiss~"
Listening to Ian’s perspective, Merlin first froze, his pupils constricting, then inhaled sharply. He always felt he was an extremely arrogant wizard.
However.
At this moment.
He only felt that there was no most arrogant, only more arrogant, that kind of astonishment.
"To act on behalf of heaven, your courage could be bigger..." Merlin asked himself if he dared to think such things, and he felt no wizard should be so arrogant and daring. If he didn’t know the little wizard before him would eventually become myth, become legend, he truly wanted to criticize the other’s unrealistic views.
It wasn’t that Merlin looked down on Ian.
But the more he learned, the more he understood the profound truths of this world. To defy heaven and become a god is human arrogance, let alone to stand above the gods?
"If you’re not daring, then why become a wizard?" Ian rolled his eyes, reaching out to collect the spoils of this victory, his hand gently stroking the raven’s corpse.
The residual warmth.
Seemingly remained.
Just as Ian wanted to lift the raven’s corpse.
An unexpected change occurred.
A peculiar wave of magic power surged from the raven’s corpse, quickly linking with Ian’s magic power. Ian felt as though his magic power was being drawn by some force.
His magic power was uncontrollably flowing towards the raven’s corpse.
"What’s going on!?" Ian tried to sever the magic connection but found he couldn’t control it at all. It seemed like a unique circuit formed between him and the raven’s corpse.
His magic power.
Was automatically analyzing the raven!
"What’s wrong with you?"
Merlin was startled by Ian’s reaction, yet seemed unaware, only looking at Ian with an incredulous gaze, raising his hand unsure how to assist Ian.
"I..."
Ian felt his whole body was restless.
Cells unusually active.
This was an experience he had seen in Professor McGonagall’s notes.
"I’m going to transform!"
The little wizard realized something.
He couldn’t help but exclaim out loud.
"??????"
Merlin was dumbfounded.
Under his puzzled gaze.
He saw.
Feathers begin to sprout from the little wizard’s body.
