Chapter 552: Chapter 571: One of Mo Si’s Functions: Queuing

The registration process was simple. After scanning their ID card, students received their dorm assignment on their terminal. All they had to do was take their card and head to the assigned dorm.

Several long lines snaked from the Mecha Single Soldier System’s ID card scanning station. The area was packed. Standing near the back of one line, Mo Si overheard people discussing the rumor that Jiang Juju was supposed to register at Federation University today.

Jiang Qiuqiu was here today as a student. Hearing people bring up her online handle gave her a strange sense of disconnect, as if her real life and online persona were colliding.

If she were recognized by fans here, she’d inevitably have to chat for a bit. But not all of her surrounding "classmates" were familiar with the live-streaming scene, and Jiang Qiuqiu thought it would be incredibly awkward to discuss it here.

She tightened the drawstrings of her hoodie and pulled her jacket zipper up high, obscuring the lower half of her face.

Mo Si read her intentions. He took her by the hand, grabbed her ID card, and stepped into one of the lines.

He was going to wait in line for her.

Mo Si’s height was striking even in the interstellar age, where the average height was nearly one-eighty-five. The moment he stepped into the line, whispers rippled through the crowd.

"That guy is way too tall... What kind of genes does he have? Is he part giraffe?"

"He must be two meters tall. It’s one thing to be tall, but why is he so handsome on top of it?"

"He doesn’t seem like an ordinary person, either. Looks like he could give this year’s big name, Huo Jia, a run for his money."

"I don’t think so. Huo Jia is an S-Class Mecha Soldier. The entire Mecha Single Soldier System only has three to five S-Class prospects this year. We’ve all seen their pictures, and this guy isn’t one of them—"

"I feel like he looks kind of familiar."

The eyes of every boy and girl were fixed on Mo Si, but he seemed completely oblivious. Or perhaps not oblivious, but simply unconcerned.

He only cared for the gaze of the one person he wanted to notice him.

Turning his head slightly, Mo Si glanced back at Jiang Qiuqiu, who was trailing a few small hoverboards. A hint of a smile touched his eyes.

Fortunately, though the line was long, the card scanners were ridiculously efficient. Mo Si hadn’t been standing there for long before Jiang Qiuqiu’s name was processed.

At the same time, a notification from Federation University popped up on Jiang Qiuqiu’s terminal.

"Dear student Jiang Qiuqiu, your registration for our university’s Mecha Single Soldier System has been successful. Per the master computer’s allocation, you have been assigned to Dormitory 10501. Please proceed to the dorm with your belongings, where you can pick up your enrollment handbook and student guidelines."

"Please be sure to read the handbook and the appended school regulations carefully, as this will be the basis for your first test after the semester begins..."

After Mo Si finished with the card, two female students were about to approach him to ask for his terminal ID, but they stopped in their tracks when they saw the tall, handsome guy walk straight toward a girl in black at the back of the crowd.

"Ah, he’s taken. I guess he wasn’t registering for himself, but for his girlfriend..."

The singletons shed a tear of envy.

The envied couple made their way toward 10501. But just as they reached the base of Building 10, Mo Si was stopped by a dormitory robot.

"Apologies. Scan indicates this individual is male."

"This is a female dormitory. Male entry is prohibited."

Jiang Qiuqiu glanced at Mo Si. "Can you wait for me here? I’ll just drop my things off and come right back down."

He was a little reluctant; he had actually wanted to see where Qiuqiu would be living. But with this thing standing in the way, his reluctance was useless.

"Go on, I’ll wait for you."

Jiang Qiuqiu headed up into the dormitory building with her little hoverboards.

For some reason, even though she knew perfectly well there was an elevator and that running back down wouldn’t be much faster than walking, Jiang Qiuqiu couldn’t help but break into a little jog.
