Chapter 138: Azaria Draven

The Arrival of the heroes had been as expected.

But something strange had happened during the awakening of their divine abilities.

One of these new heroes awakened to the item box divine skill.

Making him a dud of a hero, and should in essence not be a point of concern to Azaria’s business.

But the strange thing was, the moment Azaria took the time to observe this supposed useless hero, she had felt something she only felt from her father.....The demon lord.

Only this time, it was almost a thousand times multiplied. A fundamental need to revere, was the only way Azaria could describe this feeling as, which was preposterous.

And that’s where her distaste for this so-called useless hero began.... And subsequent weariness.

As Azaria took her time to watch him from the sideline, she could also notice the detachment he carried about himself to everyone and everything around him.....

Almost like he was just passing through.

He was cocky and obnoxious. And yet somehow manages to entice all those around him, like they were slowly being seduced by an invisible force.

She wasn’t certain if he had noticed her aversion to him, but he too began antagonizing her, with that ever present self satisfying grin on his handsome face....

All this made Azaria want to rip that hero’s head clean off his shoulder.

But for some reason, just like she felt deep down, the fundamental difference in status with her father, she subconsciously understood that it won’t be as straight forward as she assumes.

Then weird things began to happen, and this hero was always at the center of it.

The weird trap at the catacombs of permafrost. His accidental rescuing of a girl who happened to have lost her memories.... quite conveniently.

And the sudden attack on the royal treasury by Victor Malverin. This time the hero had played the role of a seer, who had brought the princess the news.

Though, a few heroes were displaying insane levels of talents, especially the blade hero. Azaria could just feel it in the depths of her heart that.... That person was the most dangerous.

Using the excuse as going after the escaped former grand vizier.....

Azaria made her way back home through the forest of Algove, then the forest of no return, until reaching the boundary separating the demonic lands from the kingdom of Ursula.

When she chose, she could go unnoticed to even paragon-realm beings, making use of one of her favorite artifacts that blocks out all sense of perception around a certain radius with her as the center.

Her arrival back home was of course met with the usual ridicule because of how she currently looked. But as long as her father still really saw her, and saw her effort that was all that matters.

Azaria informed the council of high demons and her father, the demon lord, of the various aspects of the new heroes of the Ursula kingdom.

Their strength, their weaknesses, and the level of talent each one possesses. And through it all, the person Andrew, the blade hero, stood out like a sour thumb.

She then offered her genuine true thoughts and feelings about the enigma called Caleb, the hero of item box. Citing a necessity that he be taken care of first and foremost before any other heroes.

But the council laughed her off. First, all she had presented were feelings and speculations. She had never really caught the hero in the act of anything that would deem him a competent threat.

Because they had to maintain balance for what was coming, they could only kill a single hero that would pose the most threat if they go through the upcoming heroes summit.

It was better to cut off their wings right now and right here. And the target, even with all of Azaria’s warming, was placed solely on the blade hero, Andrew.

That her warnings had not been so taken for granted did not do much to phase Azraria.

The southern demons were strong, and whatever this unusual hero was, she was sure they could handle him, even if she couldn’t.

Azaria had been away from her hole for nearly two years now. Out carrying out the will of her father, and her only need was to hear him at least say the words that he sees her, and he sees her actions and contribution.

That was the more important aspect of her visit she was looking ahead to.

Maybe it was the corruption from inheriting the attributes of the real knight commander she had assimilated....

But she had hoped to hear her father’s acknowledgement of her even once.

That’s why after the debriefing and receiving her second directive of putting an end to the short life of the blade hero....

Azaria had made her way to her father’s residence, there she was stopped at the entrance and made to present a reason for her visit to her own father....

By demons who were only at the grandmaster realm. They could barely hide the distaste in the expression.

Still, Azaria wouldn’t dare cause a scene, so she made her intentions known of wanting to see her father.

After several hours of waiting, did she get a response.... That her father was busy, and could not see her.

It’s been nearly two years.... And her father for whom she’s put herself through all this for.... Could not spare a few minutes to acknowledge her....

Maybe not acknowledge her .... But at least see her after so long, she has definitely contributed enough to warrant that much.

Yet again, maybe it was just the now human parts of her that had infected her so. But Azaria now found herself questioning things....

What has the purpose of her life been?

Was she still even a demon to begin with?

Why was she trying so hard to fit in a place that so obviously didn’t want her?

Making up her mind, Azaria Driven made a commitment to do just this last mission for her now estranged family ....

After which, she would move on to a different part of the world, she could slowly reconcile her human and demonic nature....

And by so doing, find herself and identity once more.

But she had never expected....

That this last mission, would go so wrong.
