"I’ll do whatever you want .... tell me," Erica murmured in response to Zorat’s request for a favor.

"Broddy and I have sort of grown closer during this short period of time..." Zorat began solemnly.

"And you know him well too...."

"... he might appear strong and bold with a tough outer shell...."

"But deep inside.... You know he’s quite soft at heart, right ?" He added, looking at Erica, who nodded in agreement....

Though she wasn’t exactly sure where this conversation was headed.

"I can only imagine what he must be going through now that you have ended things with him, Erica."

At Zorat’s words, Erica now wore a look of guilt on her face as she said to him...

"But ... it’s the right thing to do... "

"After all, it’s you I want to be with....not him," She muttered, passionately gazing at Zorat.

"I know... trust me I understand that..."

"But I have a suggestion that just might help Broddy through this..."

"Think of it as helping him take the needed baby steps on the journey of this breakup and acceptance."

"What do you suggest, Caleb ?" Erica inquired. Though left for her, she wouldn’t have bothered.

Given enough time, she was sure Broddy would have bounced back on his own, but hearing Caled speak so, she finds herself believing Broddy might indeed need a little assistance.

"Why not call off the breakup... and start dating him again ?"

"What ?’ Erica had her mouth agape, staring in disbelief at Zorat. She was just about to speak when he added.

"Hear me out... it would be all for show, alright ?..."

"Technically, you are now with me..." Zorat whispered as he drew closer to her on the mattress...

Slowly and gently, he led her by the side of her head to rest upon his chest while his other hand remained clasped around her hands on her lap.

"But no one has to know that yet... In fact... tell no one about it..."

"This way, you can instead slowly begin to end things with Broddy step by step..."

"little by little, and this will cause him not to feel overwhelmed by the sudden breakup like he is now...."

"And he will also slowly begin to give up on you all on his own.... Don’t you think that’s better ?" Zorat purred into her ears as he stroked the side of her head...

Causing Erica to close her eyes in relaxed comfort with a blushing smile on her face, she mumnbled.... "I guess...."

There was a lot that wasn’t making sense to her at the moment.

She had broken up with Broddy, and all of a sudden, the person she wanted to be with has now become Broddy’s friend ?.

When did they even become friends?

And she also has to pretend to have returned to Broddy, while hiding the fact that she’s currently dating Caleb.

This was all a lot for Erica, who was the straight and narrow type of person...

But she found herself believing every word Caleb said to be true, and images of how broken Broddy had been....

and how he’s been looking for her all over the place and begging for her to take him back, also began playing through in her mind...

Caleb was right, and this was certainly the humane way to go about it. She thought.

If she had to pretend for a while to ease Broddy’s pain and help him move on, which would also satisfy Caleb, she firmed herself that she would do just that.

"Go now.... Go bring some comforting news to my friend." Zorat muttered as he gently helped Erica off him and out of the mattress.

She stood, nodded nervously at Zorat, and was about to start moving when Zorat spoke again...

"Oh, and Erica...."

"Do remember to ’subtly’ hint to him that it was I... his friend, who had convinced you of this change in decision."

Erica looked a little confused at why this was necessary....

She imagined Caleb would have wanted to leave his name as far away from this complication as possible.

Seeing this look on her face, Zorat added. "This is so he can understand where your sudden change of heart stems from.... Make it seem like I had made you see reason,"

"And when you are done.... "

"You can come over later, so we can carry on from where we stopped," he added with a little smile on the corner of his face.

Zorat believed a reward was in order if she indeed managed to smoothly pull off what he had assigned her.

And noticing the way her eyes had never left his pants since she came in, he wasn’t too clueless not to pick up on obvious urges.

And as expected, a bright smile bloomed on Erica’s face as she pranced out of the cabin.

With a dutiful mindset, she headed straight in the direction of the main palace and to the residence area for the male heroes.

After her departure, Zorat simply relaxed onto the mattress beneath him. If all goes as well as planned, his third sub authority ability should be waking up at any moment and granting him yet another divine authority fragment....

One he was especially looking forward to for not only the divine authority fragment it contains, but also for the convenience the base rune holds.

Zorat had played out all of this ruse for a simple reason....

He had used the authority of desire on Broddy just a few moments after he had arrived at the king’s summons three days ago.... even before Broddy had come up to him requesting his assistance.

Zorat knew that all that needed to happen for everything to fall in place was for Erica to break up with Broddy, but that was a little delayed by the reluctant Erica....

And when Zorat later saw what Borddy’s pressing desire was after the break-up, he knew it was time to implement this plan.

His desire had been quite direct and simple, just like the person himself. It had been to have Erica back in his life....

And that is exactly what was about to happen....

It also wouldn’t just happen, because with Zorat’s earlier insistence, Erica should have painted Zorat as the subject of that fulfillment, satisfying all the rules of his authority and allowing him to harvest all that was linked to Broddy.

Zorat simply waited, and not too long after Erica had left the cabin, the expected resonance in his soul pinged to life.....
