Having Wives And Raising Children Levels Me Up
Chapter 88. The Proposal.
"Aunt Ophelia!!" Rowena’s head snapped toward her aunt whilst her cheeks instantly began turning red.
She couldn’t believe her aunt would say something as embarrassing as that.
But Ophelia clearly didn’t mind what she had just said.
"What?" She blinked at her niece with a completely innocent look on her face before adding.
"Can I not be honest with a potential future husband for my niece? I need grandnieces and grandnephews and the perfect man is sitting right in front of me. What exactly do you expect me to do, huh? Of course I am going to do everything I possibly can to make sure that happens." Ophelia affirmed, and Rowena pressed her lips together before looking away with her cheeks still pink and slowly turning red.
Meanwhile, Austin laughed, then he looked at Ophelia before saying, "Well, you’re not wrong. I did come for something else, but I also came to ask for your permission to marry the Countess."
Saying this, the countess’s waiting room instantly went quiet and Rowena’s head turned back slowly with a shocked look on her face. "What?" she said, but Ophelia’s grin spread across her entire face as she reached forward and lifted her juice again.
"Oh, how intriguing," she said with great pleasure as she took a sip of her juice before urging Austin to proceed.
"Do go on. Tell me everything you have in mind."
Hearing this, Austin smiled and leaned forward slightly before resting his arms on the table as he began to explain why he wanted to see the stunning dark elf.
"I want to build a mansion. Here in Elmfield. Of course, Rowena has already given me her blessing to build within her territory and I’m grateful for that, but the best builders and architects in this kingdom are in the capital and I don’t have the connections there to find the right people."
"And that’s where I come in?" Ophelia asked, and Austin replied with a nod.
"Yes, I need someone I can trust to point me in the right direction," Austin continued.
"I need someone who knows who the best builders are, who is reliable, and who won’t take advantage of someone they think doesn’t know better," Austin explained, and Ophelia nodded slowly. "And what about the mansion itself? What is it for?"
"It’ll be our home. Mine and my family’s. We’ll probably be having our wedding there too."
"A wedding?" Ophelia asked, tilting her head with an intriguing smile on her face.
"Yes. Once the mansion is built, that’s where it’ll happen."
Hearing this, Ophelia’s smile widened even more before asking, "And what about my niece? Will you be marrying her as well?"
Now, the room went very quiet for a second time.
Austin turned toward the countess, but Rowena, who had been sitting beside her aunt with pink cheeks since the moment Austin had confirmed Ophelia wasn’t wrong, suddenly found her cup very interesting to look at, as she tried to avoid making eye contact with Austin.
Of course, these past few weeks she’d been spending with Austin had made her develop feelings for him, especially since Austin had given her the healing potion which healed her mana core.
However, Rowena hadn’t been certain if Austin felt the same way about her.
But to have suddenly heard him say it out loud, that he truly cared about her and would even be interested in having her as his wife, everything just felt so fast for the beautiful countess as she tried to keep up with everything that was happening around her.
"Yes, that is correct. I’ll be marrying both Nora and Rowena." Austin replied before glancing across at the countess, and he could see how her ears had turned pink all the way to their tips.
Meanwhile, Ophelia looked like she had just received the best news of her entire life.
She instantly set her cup down and pressed both hands flat against her lap as though she needed to steady herself from the excitement. "So let me make sure I’m understanding this correctly. You want to build a mansion in my niece’s territory."
"Yes."
"You also want to hold a wedding in that mansion, and my niece will be one of your wives, is that correct?"
"That is correct," Austin said.
"Aunt Ophelia, please calm down," Rowena said quietly, but Ophelia instantly urged her niece to stay silent.
"No, I will not calm down," Ophelia said without even glancing at her.
She added, "This is the best thing that has happened in this family in centuries, so I will not calm down."
Turning back to Austin, she asked, "So, is there anything you need from me beyond the builders?"
"Not for now. But I’ll let you know if I do."
Hearing this, Ophelia nodded firmly. "Good. Then consider it done. I’ll have a list of the most reliable construction guilds in the capital ready for you within the week."
"Thank you."
Ophelia reached forward and picked up her cantaloupe juice now before taking a long, satisfied sip and glancing sideways at her niece. "Rowena," she called out.
"Yes."
"Aren’t you going to say anything?"
"I think you’ve said quite enough for the both of us," Rowena replied quietly.
Ophelia laughed.
Then she looked back at Austin.
"Don’t worry about my niece, she’s definitely happy about this news. She just doesn’t know how to show it yet, so give her time."
"Aunt Ophelia," Rowena said.
"What? I’m just being honest with my future son-in-law," Ophelia said innocently as she continued taking more sips of her juice.
Meanwhile, Rowena finally looked up and turned to Austin directly.
Her expression was composed but her ears were still pink at the tips as she asked quietly, "Um, what does Nora think about all of this?"
Austin glanced toward her and replied honestly. "Nora wants this, and she told me herself she wants the three of us to have that wedding together."
Hearing this, Rowena didn’t know how to react to his response.
Instead, she simply stared at him before looking back down at her cup without saying anything else.
But there was definitely a small smile on her lips, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed by both Austin and Ophelia.
Of course, Ophelia didn’t say anything about this, and neither did she try to tease her niece.
Instead, she simply continued taking sips of her juice whilst plotting something known only to her.
