Gorgeous Female Tenants
Chapter 387: Another Trap
Xu Xiangbei suddenly felt invigorated: "Oh, do you think this is a trap set by Lei Zhenrong?"
When Liu Ningyan smiled, two dimples appeared on her face, making her look pure and cute.
"It’s very likely. On the surface, he wants to burn the server with you, destroying the Ancient Moon Red Dust game. I suspect he already has a backup and has hidden these data away. When the dust settles one day, these data will return to the server."
Liu Ningyan tied her hair into a ponytail with a red hair tie, as her scattered hair hanging in front of her chest would affect her operation on the computer.
She concentrated intensely on the computer screen, her slender white fingers swiftly tapping on the keyboard, English characters and machine language flashing across the screen.
Xu Xiangbei understood nothing, but he felt Liu Ningyan’s reasoning was very likely correct. With a hopeful expression, he sat beside Liu Ningyan, silently watching.
He secretly guessed that Lei Zhenrong was a fox; burning the server might be his new prank.
About twenty minutes later, Liu Ningyan excitedly clapped her hands, her beautiful face blushing with excitement, making her even more charming and attractive.
Xu Xiangbei couldn’t hold back his excitement: "What did you find?"
Liu Ningyan smiled: "Indeed, I’ve found something. Besides the secret room you discovered last time, there’s another hidden room in the second basement level where the current gets cut off. We need to go and take a look to find out."
Jenny was also surprised: "Another hidden room? How many secret rooms have they built?"
Xu Xiangbei said to Jenny and Liu Ningyan: "The secret room we went to last time was full of traps. I should go down alone. You two are better off staying here."
Liu Ningyan said with concern: "Then be careful."
Xu Xiangbei arrived at the underground parking lot. The guards in the security room were all from the security company arranged by Jenny, who recognized Xu Xiangbei. Because few people went to the second basement level, none of them had ever been to it. The electricity there wasn’t abundant, so they gave Xu Xiangbei a flashlight shaped like an electric baton.
The second basement level clearly had a sense of dampness. The guards said no one had been down there for a long time, indeed, nobody had gone down; a thick layer of dust accumulated on the ground.
Moreover, the lighting there was dim, with only a few places illuminated and the rest in total darkness.
Xu Xiangbei haphazardly shone the flashlight around, planning to make a quick survey before leaving. Unexpectedly, he made a significant discovery.
On the thick dust, there was a clear circle of tire marks, indicating the time when the tire marks were made wasn’t long ago. Surely, a vehicle had recently entered and exited here.
Following the tire’s path, Xu Xiangbei came to a big door that looked like an ordinary garage door. He twisted the handle, but it didn’t turn—it was locked.
He called Liu Ningyan to tell her about his discovery. Liu Ningyan and Jenny then also came to the second basement level, in front of the large garage door.
"Let me show you my ancestor’s lock-picking skills."
Jenny glanced at the garage lock and quickly figured out how to open it; her grandfather was Yang Qianshou, a master at lock-picking and stealing.
Even though Jenny was a police officer, her lock-picking skills were taught by her grandfather.
She took a hairpin from her hair and gently inserted it into the keyhole, carefully fiddling with the lock. Soon, the lock made a slight spring sound, and the iron door creaked open a crack.
A dazzling light shot through the crack.
When the three entered the iron door, they were taken aback.
Inside, it looked more like a sterile room, with massive sealing curtains hanging outside, and the interior decorated like a hospital examination room in a sci-fi movie.
Rows of brand-new cabinets housed blade servers and disk arrays, connected by colorful cables.
Liu Ningyan couldn’t help but laugh: "I knew it. They hid the servers here. I’m sure our Ancient Moon Red Dust is right here."
A cold laugh was heard: "What a frog in the well. This server matrix isn’t used to store your game data. It’s my latest developed next-generation intelligent system, and its name is Thunderbird Matrix."
The lights dimmed, and seven or eight people surrounded Xu Xiangbei and the other two, holding guns. The leader was Lei Zhenrong.
Lei Zhenrong leaned on his cane; excessive labor had overburdened his body, causing premature decline. He coldly looked at Xu Xiangbei.
"Young man, you’re lucky to have survived the explosion in the little building. How did you escape?"
Xu Xiangbei sneered: "How I escaped is none of your concern. Were you in the little building, or not?"
"Of course, it wasn’t me. I thought you were smart. It was my holographic image. Haha, would I be foolish enough to negotiate face-to-face with you?"
Lei Zhenrong emitted a smug cold laugh, his gaze filled with contempt.
"Aren’t you negotiating face-to-face with me now?"
Lei Zhenrong almost lost his balance laughing: "Look at the situation now; is it negotiating? You’ve been caught by me, haven’t you? Curiosity killed the cat. I deliberately leaked some information to you, and you really found your way here. You seem very smart, finding my Thunderbird Matrix. Actually, you’ve only fallen into the traps I set one after another."
Xu Xiangbei sneered: "So how do you plan to deal with us?"
"Deal with you? Obviously, I’ll kill these two women directly. What a pity; they’re in the prime and bloom of youth."
Xu Xiangbei grinned frivolously: "What about me? You can’t bear to kill me? Have you fallen in love with me?"
Lei Zhenrong’s face flushed with anger, and he slammed his cane on the ground: "I don’t want you to die easily. Because of you, my son is going to jail. I want to tear you limb from limb just to vent the hate in my heart. Fall in love with you? I’ve seen shameless people, but none as shameless as you."
Xu Xiangbei laughed: "Old man, don’t be angry; anger harms your body. I’m a doctor, and I know some health tips. People shouldn’t be angry; when they’re angry, their whole body gets sick. Do you want me to treat you?"
"You scoundrel! Babbling nonsense in my presence, you’re still wet behind the ears. I tirelessly established the Thunderbird Group. How could I let a few people ruin it? All my data is stored in the Thunderbird Matrix. After killing you and after a quiet period, I’ll find a new place to start a new enterprise, like a phoenix reborn from the ashes, haha. And you’ll be buried in this deserted basement, with nobody knowing where you’ve gone, still thinking you went to Mars for fun, haha, cough."
At the point of satisfaction, Lei Zhenrong laughed wildly, coughing uncontrollably.
