Chapter 1055: The Summit of Greed (2).

The sound of heavy hooves stomping on the ground traveled far and wide through the dark forest.

Blade laced with crimson energy, Cain rushed forward and grabbed the enormous creature by the tusk. With a guttural groan, he heaved as hard a he possibly could.

The enormous body of the creature was lifted right off the ground.

With a roar, Cain lifted the giant beast with a single hand, a terrifying display of strength.

Dark muscles bulging with pulsating crimson veins laced with speckles of gold, He threw the beast over his head and slammed it into the forest floor.

The sound of a near-cataclysmic crash rocked the world, the shockwaves from it destroying all nearby trees and creating an enormous impact crater.

Huffing furiously, Cain couldn’t help but glance at his own hands. The strength in them was truly tremendous.

That creature had to weigh at least a hundred thousand tons. It had taken him some effort, especially with just a single hand, but it was outstanding to think that he now had the capacity to lift something that weighed so much.

Just as he had suspected, however, the beast remained more or less okay despite all that.

Though it was a little rattled.

It rose from the floor, shaking its large head then huffed furiously in his direction.

Cain clicked his tongue,

"Not only is its fur hard, its skull might be even harder."

And he was not exaggerating it one bit.

In fact, he could tell by gripping one of its tusks that its bones also hardened upon impact, just like its fur.

It was not the fastest or most sneaky beast. However, such level of defense meant it was almost untouchable.

’No wonder it can walk around without having to fear the hunters in the night.’

He glanced around. There were no creatures nearby. He has noticed that even before their battle had begun too.

"Now, then... What do I do?"

Although the creature was nearly indomitable, it also couldn’t do much against him. Should they keep at it, there would be no victor even after a hundred days.

Or until one of them decided to give up.

He has a decent number of skills and abilities that could boost his capabilities with either Ki or Demon Matter.

However, all of them focused on improving his body. None of them were created to directly affect or influence his opponent.

’I could try hitting it until it reaches its limits.’

He frowned then shook his head. Something told him doing that would be a bad idea. And he was right to listen to his guts.

Feeling the beast riling up again, Cain took his stance and prepared himself.

Then next moment, he noticed something incredible happen.

Yellow runes appeared all over the body of the creature, crawling up all the way to its tusks.

Its body was immediately enveloped with a burst of yellow-brown energy; an indicator some sort of earth elemental magic being used.

It’s scestched its front hoove against the floor and charged forward.

Cain prepared to leap out of the way when he suddenly felt frozen in place.

His eyes widened.

Unable to move, he could only watch as the beast smashed into him.

Cain was sent flying with a fountain of blood spewing from his head.

’What the hell was that?!’

As he traced an arc through the sky, he felt something wrap around him and pull him faster towards the earth.

And the worst part was he could do nothing to stop it.

Cain grimaced as his back slammed into the ground.

"D-damn it." He cursed as he tried to get up.

The felt that strange surge of energy wrap around him again.

This time however, he was prepared with growl, he let the wild energy withing him soar into the high heavens, cutting through the restraints around him.

This time, he was not completely immobilized. However, he could feel that he was significantly slower.

The beast charged forward again, but this time, he was ready.

He stretched his arm forward and caught the damned thing by the tusks.

His body began to change as he assumed his Demon form, body and proportions swelling as he smashed a knee into the beast’s skull.

The creature was thrown back by the force, staggering to the side.

Now much larger and even stronger than before, Cain decided to vent his rage a bit as he followed up with a swift blow again to its jaw.

The beast staggered backwards, but he was not yet satisfied. With his other arm, he swung his sword.

The blade of {Eidwyrm} was completely graceless as it traveled through the air in a crimson flourish, cutting a crescent right onto the beast’s fur.

However, his final attack seemed to deal the least amount of damage as even the surge of energy surrounding the weapon simple bounced off the creature’s bristle like wooly coat.

Cain’s eyes widened as the beast’s maw wrapped around his arm and bit down.

"You son of a— argh!"

Cain was forced to let go of his blade as he tried his very best not to let the damned beast chew off his arm.

Wrapping his other arm around its throat, he made sure it absolutely could not clench its jaws any further.

’Damn it! What do I do now?!’ he thought as he wrestled the beast to the ground.

There, tehye stossed and struggled, both unwilling to let go.

Gritting his teeth, Cain activated {Black Warrior}, his physical might swelling significantly.

With a roar, he poured all his strength into the arm wrapped around the beast’s neck.

The fur around the creature’s neck continued to harden even as he tightened his grip.

Without arms, the creature could not peel his arms away. So it did the only other thing it could do in the current situation.

Cain’s eyes were filled with the blinding yellow light, only this time, it was far more intense than before.

’Crap!’ Cain cursed mentally as a tremendous force slammed into him.

So great was it, he felt like he was being subdued by the force of a great ocean.
