The specifics of creating a Spatial Anchor was something he was already rather used to.

To create the spatial network within the expanding Valestorm, he had had to recreate it multiple times, albeit on a smaller individual scale compared to the first one he had made, which was currently in this very island.

Of course, the reason he couldn’t just delegate that spatial anchor to be used by everyone, was that his plans required subtlety.

He had to ease into the many humans of Valestorm, the idea that there were Mutant Beasts that could walk amongst them without wanting to tear them apart, just like what had happened with the Beastmen.

Of course, to prevent the tragedies that had once happened, he had decided to take things much more seriously this time around.

Cain snapped his fingers and a giant slab of metal appeared in his hands.

This was the base of the tether, something he had prepared before even coming back to Redscale Island.

It was important to engrave the spells into something physical for them to work.

As much as spiritual resonance could bring about physical changes, the reverse was also the case.

Usually, although magic was spontaneous, and the arcane was not easily controlled or understood, its might could be harnessed physically.

To make the process of harnessing every bit smoother, things like runes, magic circles, incantations, and even items and weapons were important.

All these were simply means to harness and control the otherwise volatile boundless energy that linked the spiritual and physical planes together.

The casting of the steel ball was, unfortunately, the easiest part of the entire process.

Cain sucked in a breath as he pulled out another item from his inventory;

His Magic Brush— the trusty item that could be used to inscribe mighty spells and symbols onto even the most mundane of things. It had the power to turn something as simple as a leaf, into an item that could create ripping vortexes.

Of course, that was very much unreasonable as there were more conditions to inscribing of runes than one would expect.

In any case, his fingers trembled lightly as he focused all his attention onto the ball of metal.

Then they became steady. He pulled a mana shards out of his inventory and affixed it onto the Magic Brush. Without access to his mana or spirit, he would have to rely on his mind, muscle memory, and mana shards to complete the task, raising the difficulty significantly.

Cain was no artist. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

However, he was rather gifted in the art of inscribing runes.

The most important thing about rune inscription is of course, memorization.

Throughout his journey as a Runesmith, Cain was sure he had memorized no less than a million different unique runes. And he was certain he had just barely scratched the surface.

There exists all manners of runes after all...

The next most important thing, was cultivating the talent of combining those runes to achieve the desired effect.

If each rune exists as a single building block, then the stele would be an entire city. For an item as complex as what he was about to create, the ability to combine over a hundred different runes to produce even a single effect would be considered elementary.

Without wasting any more time, Cain began to inscribe.

The tip of the Magic Brush glowed with an ethereal blue glow. His drawing hand constantly trembled and shook.

The shapes he had to draw were incredibly minute. Even the smallest of errors would mean he would have to scrape the entire thing.

As his hand trembled, his mind opened up like broken river dams.

His dark eyes seemed to have become even darker, the familiar sequences imprinted into them. With a mind as powerful as his currently was, he wouldn’t be able to forget even if he wanted to.

Slowly, the surface of the ball began to change. It was no longer the same shiny polished steel surface.

Now, its surface was slowly turning rough with countless inscriptions.

Working at it tirelessly non-stop, Cain allowed himself only short breaks.

He worked until his eyes became heavy and his fingers numb, which was incredibly difficult to do, considering he currently possessed far beyond superhuman levels of stamina and strength.

The first time he had created a Spatial Tether Stele and the anchor, he had made use of several crutches. Now, he was going to be relying only on himself.

His delicate eyes picked up on everything he did, not allowing him to make even the slightest of mistakes.

As he was now much more powerful than he had been almost a year ago, Cain completed the entire process in just a few hours.

Wearing an exhausted grin on his face, he pulled out a water canteen from his inventory and took a long, drawn out sip before letting out a sigh.

The surface of the steel ball shone with a soft glow as it hovered in place.

It was completely covered in tiny runes the normal human eyes would be unable to see. However, it was evident that something had changed about the item.

Cain breathed a sigh of relief.

’Now, all that’s left is to find where to put it.’

Since the first time was always the hardest, all he needed to do now, was link the anchor to the main tether. With that, the link would be complete and a two-way network would be so even between the two locations.

The best thing about the {Spatial Gate}, was of course, the speed with which it could transfer persons and objects. With it, they wouldn’t need to worry about speed and efficiency.

The only problem, would be the steep cost of making use of the damn thing.

Cain sighed.

This time, he had made multiple improvements to his old designs. Now, the energy cost was much less steep. However, it was still significant.

He shook his head,

’No. I cannot think like that. These guys are self-sufficient enough to run this thing on their own. They don’t need my resources.’

Considering the large, bountiful surplus of Mutant Creatures on Redscale, it made sense that there would be a corresponding abundance of mana shards.

Cain huffed as he rose to his feet,

"Now, I just need to find somewhere to put this damn thing."
