Chapter 368: Shelter

The tents were quickly removed, though the blankets, tables, and other supplies inside were left where they were after Doro mentioned there was no need to move them.

Apparently, he could simply build around them as they were.

Once the space had been cleared enough, Doro stepped forward and placed both hands against the ground.

Almost immediately, stone began rising upward.

Not violently or chaotically either.

The earth moved with a level of control that honestly felt unnatural to watch up close. Thick stone walls pushed out from the ground in smooth sections before locking together seamlessly as Doro shaped them in real time.

Within seconds, the structure had already begun taking form.

The walls rose to a reasonable height before gradually connecting together into the shape of an actual building, though the top remained completely open for now.

Without pausing, Doro calmly stepped inside the unfinished structure and pressed one hand against the floor again.

More stone shifted.

This time, the interior began changing.

Sections of the floor rose slightly before extending into clean partitions, gradually forming separate rooms throughout the building. The rough ground beneath our feet then smoothed itself out afterward, flattening into something far cleaner and more even, almost like it had been properly plastered beforehand.

The entire process happened with such efficiency that it genuinely felt strange watching it happen in real time.

As Doro continued working, I stood there quietly observing everything with growing amusement.

Honestly, abilities like this were absurdly useful.

Not just for combat either.

The amount of time, labor, and resources a skill like this could save the clan was ridiculous.

Still, while watching the structure come together, one particular question remained stuck in my mind.

What exactly was he planning to do about the roof?

The answer came quickly.

A large slab of stone suddenly began forming beside the structure, slowly rising out of the ground under Doro’s control.

Unlike the walls, however, this slab wasn’t particularly thick.

It was wide enough to match the dimensions of the building, but Doro had clearly adjusted the density and weight intentionally so the walls beneath would actually be able to support it without collapsing under the pressure.

Even then, lifting something that large clearly wasn’t easy.

The moment the slab fully formed, Doro’s expression tightened slightly for the first time all night.

Veins bulged faintly along his arm as the massive stone roof slowly lifted upward from the ground.

The movement wasn’t fast either.

It rose carefully and steadily through the air before gradually lowering onto the top of the structure with surprising precision.

The instant it settled properly into place, Doro immediately pressed a hand against the wall again, causing the stone beneath his palm to shift and connect seamlessly with the roof above, locking the entire structure together into one solid piece.

Only after that did he finally pull his hand away.

Doro exhaled deeply.

"Done."

He dusted his hands lightly afterward as though he’d merely finished moving furniture around instead of casually constructing an entire stone building from the ground up.

Meanwhile, I stared at the completed structure for a second before a quiet gasp escaped me.

"Wow."

I was genuinely impressed enough that I almost started clapping on instinct.

Still, while watching him, I couldn’t help but notice the strain the final part had put on him, especially when he lifted the roof into place.

That definitely wasn’t effortless.

"How many more buildings like this could you make before completely running out of mana?" I asked curiously.

"About ten more," he responded calmly.

’Ten?’

That number honestly caught me off guard more than I expected.

Even without considering combat applications, the sheer utility behind a Skill Line like this was absurd.

"And more, if I use mana recovery potions," Doro added afterward.

My eyes widened slightly at that.

That was genuinely impressive.

With normal manual labor, finishing even a simple structure usually took days of nonstop work, especially with the limited manpower and tools available to goblins. Larger buildings could easily take over a week, depending on the materials, weather, and how many workers were involved.

But with Doro, entire structures could be raised in minutes. Not temporary shelters either. Actual stone buildings sturdy enough to survive weather, attacks, and long-term use.

At that moment, the value of bringing Caius and his people into the clan became even clearer in my mind. With the Doro clan’s abilities combined with our existing manpower, the speed at which the Emerald Midget Clan could develop would increase drastically.

Walls. Housing. Storage facilities. Defensive structures. Even future expansions of the settlement itself. Everything suddenly felt far more achievable than before.

Still, while staring at the completed building, another thought naturally surfaced in my mind.

If we had more goblins with the same Skill Line as Doro...

The rate of development would become downright terrifying.

At this pace, within a week, the Emerald Midget Clan could realistically develop into something closer to a fortress than a normal goblin settlement, strong enough to stand alongside the territories controlled by the other candidates instead of looking inferior to them.

And although there technically was a way to achieve something like that, the method involved killing Doro first so he would lose his status as a Chosen.

I couldn’t just casually do something like that.

More importantly, I highly doubted Doro would willingly agree to being killed simply so I could experiment with his Skill Line afterward.

So in the end, I pushed the thought aside with a quiet sigh.

Some ideas were better left alone.

Meanwhile, Doro had already started working on the second structure.

Just like before, stone rose from the ground under his control, gradually shaping itself into walls, rooms, and eventually another completed building. The process looked slightly slower this time, most likely because of the mana he had already spent, but his control remained impressively stable throughout.

By the time he finished, there was finally enough proper space for Caius and the others to settle in comfortably instead of being cramped together inside tents.

Honestly, the difference was massive.

The stone buildings blocked the cold air far better, retained heat more effectively, and provided actual protection from both weather and surprise attacks.

But while watching the newcomers move their belongings inside, I couldn’t stop a small sense of conflict from creeping into my thoughts.

Most of my own goblins still slept in tents.

Yet the newest members of the clan were now resting inside actual stone shelters that protected them far better from the elements than what the others currently had.

Of course, logically, I understood why things ended up this way.

The buildings existed because Doro himself had created them.

Still, seeing the difference firsthand felt... strange.

Unintentional unfair.

I glanced at Nira, Dribb, and Zonk who had followed them, and the looks of jealousy on their faces couldn’t be more obvious.

I held my chin.

Maybe I shouldn’t have allowed them do this.
