Global Deities: Rising as Wood Elves' God
Chapter 115 - 114: The Scout Returns, the First Stronghold
After three hours, the Elf Scout who had entered the Teleportation Gate finally returned.
"Password!"
This was an agreement made with Elf Corps Commander Feiyana before the Elf Scout had departed.
The purpose was to prevent the worst-case scenario.
"Long live the great God of Nature!"
Good. The worst-case scenario hadn’t happened.
"Report on the situation you scouted!" Elf Corps Commander Feiyana asked impatiently.
The Elf Scout opposite Elf Corps Commander Feiyana gave a military salute and said, 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"For the most part, the situation on the other side matches the map provided by the great God of Nature."
"Gourd Canyon has a double-basin structure, with one large and one small section."
"The Teleportation Gate is located inside the canyon, specifically in the lower basin."
"I explored from inside Gourd Canyon all the way to its entrance and found no other Elf Clans living there."
"The lower basin has a water pool and a small population of cattle and sheep, enough for the vanguard to solve their initial water and food needs."
"The upper basin, at the entrance to Gourd Canyon, is indeed easy to defend and hard to attack.
It’s surrounded by mountains on three sides. We only need to hold this one side to fend off an army of ten thousand!"
Hearing that all the news from the Elf Scout’s report was good,
a smile unknowingly appeared on Elf Corps Commander Feiyana’s face.
After all, for this battle, the great God of Nature had issued an Oracle, stating clearly that He would use Saint’s Descent to possess Elf High Priest Shamiel and act as the battle’s Overall Conductor.
However, He would only manage the overall situation; the specific execution was still left for Elf Corps Commander Feiyana to command.
"Is there any bad news?"
Elf Corps Commander Feiyana asked cautiously.
"Reporting, ma’am, nothing negative has been discovered so far!"
"Excellent!"
"For this, the contribution of your Elf Scout unit will be noted. After the battle is over, the great God of Nature will bestow rewards upon you!"
As she said this, Feiyana couldn’t help but glance at Elf High Priest Shamiel, who stood beside her, possessed by the great God of Nature.
After all, all rewards were to be decided by the great God of Nature; it wasn’t her place to overstep.
Seeing no reaction from the great God of Nature,
Elf Corps Commander Feiyana continued, "Now, the Elf Corps and the Dwarf Corps are to enter Gourd Canyon immediately!"
"Proceed to the uppermost part of Gourd Canyon and establish initial defensive fortifications!"
"The Logistics units will also enter Gourd Canyon in sequence to support the corps under the great God of Nature and resolve any supply concerns!"
"Yes, ma’am!"
"Orders received!"
The other key figures in this battle, whose ranks were second only to the Overall Conductor and Elf Corps Commander Feiyana, responded in turn.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yi, who had used Saint’s Descent to possess the body of Elf High Priest Shamiel,
couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing the good news from the Elf Scout unit.
’This is, after all, the first step of my plan.
If I encountered a setback on the very first step, the rest of the plan would be very difficult to implement.’
Zhang Yi’s plan was actually quite simple: win over one group, and fight another.
According to the intelligence provided by the school,
across the entire Small Magic Plane, the Elves of the western Moonlight Forest were actually deeply divided.
If the divisions weren’t significant, the school’s intelligence report wouldn’t have made a special point of mentioning it.
And this was the entry point Zhang Yi wanted to exploit—a chance to seek fortune in danger.
According to the records, a hundred years ago, the Beast God and the Elf God on this Small Magic Plane joined forces to fight the God of the Sea, who seized territory on the mainland with every high tide.
But in what became known as the War of the Three Gods, a battle epic enough to be recorded in the annals of the plane,
the Beast God treacherously turned on and ambushed the Elf God midway through the war, leaving the Elf God gravely wounded.
The Beast God then intended to finish off the Elf God completely and claim all the land on the plane for himself.
At that moment, it was their enemy, the God of the Sea, who intervened and saved the Elf God.
This was the only reason the Beast God’s plan did not succeed.
Afterward, the God of the Sea and the Beast God became entangled in endless conflict, and the Elf God used this opportunity to escape the battlefield.
Although the God of the Sea was stronger than the Beast God, it wasn’t by much. He only held the upper hand during their fights.
Their struggle dragged on for decades.
Eventually, the battle between the God of the Sea and the Beast God ended.
The Beast God had, of course, sustained considerable injuries in the process,
but if the God of the Sea continued to press him,
the Beast God might have ignored his own wounds and fought the God of the Sea to the death.
Even if the God of the Sea ultimately managed to kill the Beast God, he himself would be left grievously wounded.
Wouldn’t that just allow the Elf God, who had left the battlefield decades ago, to swoop in and reap the rewards?
Therefore, before the battle between the God of the Sea and the Beast God had concluded,
the two gods took turns seeking out the Elf God—who had already recovered to the point of having only minor injuries—and beat him until he was severely wounded once more.
The Elf God, who had been the weakest to begin with and was already injured,
was then sought out and beaten mercilessly by the Beast God and the God of the Sea in turn.
The Elf God’s injuries were now even more severe than when he had been ambushed by the Beast God!
From then on, life became difficult for the Elves on this plane’s continent.
Not only did they have to face occasional harassment from the Beastman Clan on land,
but during high tide, they also had to deal with harassment from the Sea Clan in the ocean.
Under the immense pressure of internal strife and external threats, divisions appeared within the Elf Clan.
After the Elf God was severely injured and fell silent once more,
the original Dark Elf Clan underwent a bloodline promotion, becoming Moon Elves and greatly increasing their power.
They shattered the previous status quo, launched a rebellion, seized power, and forced the other Elf clans to recognize them, the Moon Elves, as the royal family of the Elf Clan.
Furthermore, they proposed a new resolution:
to abandon the original Elf God and create a new one!
When the Moon Elves first seized power, many of the more remote Elf Tribes did not intervene.
But when the Moon Elves proposed creating a new god, even those remote Elf Tribes voiced their opposition, wanting to drive the Moon Elves from power.
But by then, it was too late.
Who would have thought that the Moon Elves would strike first, slaughtering several Elf Tribes to intimidate the others into inaction?
After that, no Elf was willing to throw their life away for nothing.
This allowed the Moon Elves to secure their position, at least for the time being.
If they could just outlast two generations of the long-lived Elves,
the Moon Elves’ plan might have actually succeeded.
But now Zhang Yi had arrived, and things were different.
If the Elf Clan had been truly united, it would have been difficult for him to make a move.
In that case, Zhang Yi wouldn’t have chosen to establish the Teleportation Gate in the west of the plane.
Instead, he would have established the Teleportation Gate in the eastern part of the plane, in the most chaotic territory.
After all, chaos represents opportunity.
