Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle
Chapter 1164: The Final Day and the Mysterious Elf
The huge wave of seawater surged forward, towering higher than the fortress walls!
Furthermore, it wasn't just water, it was tainted mana!
It wasn't obvious at first but Elves confirmed that it was thick with rot and venom, carrying the stench of decay.
The roar of the Flood Dragon echoed as the tsunami crashed toward the defenders!
The ground trembled. The Trident Mechs braced themselves, their steel frames gleaming under the floodlight, but even they staggered as the wall of water slammed into the fortress.
For a moment, it seemed as though everything would be swept away.
However, the Fortress's Barrier extended and covered the ones outside the walls!
Then, after protecting the defenders and blocking the wave, the barrier pulsed, and it started glowing with arcs of lightning!
It was doing the same things as before!
As the tsunami continued to hit, the water didn't simply crash through! It was split apart, redirected, and vaporized into clouds of steam.
Furthermore, the corrupted mana within the flood reacted violently to the barrier's energy! It then created a deafening explosion of light and sound.
Boom! Crackle!
The impact shook the battlefield.
Steam and lightning filled the air, blinding both defenders and attackers.
The corrupted water was shredded into fragments, raining down in sizzling droplets that burned the ground…
It was chaos…
Zombies caught in the surge were torn apart, their bodies dissolved by the barrier's energy. Even Vampires who failed to fly in time hissed as the backlash struck them, their ranks thrown into disarray. Even the wyverns faltered in the air since their wings were scorched by stray arcs of lightning.
The Vampire Lords weren't happy about this…
"What is this?!" one shouted, shielding himself with a cloak of blood.
"That wave… and the barrier… it's stronger than before! How did it fail?!" another hissed.
"This is unacceptable! Our cannon fodder is being wasted!" the third roared…
The Dragonkin Elders were no less frustrated.
One growled… It even seem as if his scales were vibrating with rage.
"That barrier should have collapsed under the Flood Dragon's corruption! Instead, it created more damage to us…"
Another Elder spat flames into the air.
"Our wyverns are falling, our Salamanders are burning in the backlash! That Flood Dragon… Why was it so excited to use that move?"
The battlefield was a mess. The tsunami had been meant to drown the fortress, but instead, it had backfired… It had crippled the front lines of the attackers instead.
Corpses floated in steaming puddles, wyverns crashed into the mud, and vampires scrambled to reorganize their ranks.
Inside the fortress, defenders cheered.
The Trident Mechs raised their weapons, their steel frames glowed as the barrier's lightning danced across them.
"That's an unexpected support." Shane muttered as he clenched his fists…
"Hold the line! The Flood Dragon's fury is nothing before our barrier!" Tris shouted…
He was confident that the number of Cores they obtained could last them for at least three more days of this event.
However, since this was already the final day, he wasn't afraid anymore!
At the same time, Mystra's eyes lit up as she watched the corrupted water dissipate.
"This barrier is no ordinary defense, Shane… You should consider getting one of these… I'm sure you can buy it from them…" She muttered beside Shane.
Shane was, of course, surprised by his suggestion.
"Hey… I think you're the one interested in it. Anyway, I'll ask Tris about this after this event. I'm sure he'll view this favorably, considering our contribution to the defense." He replied.

In the meantime, high above the battlefield, a figure seemed to be floating in the air…
At first glance, he appeared to be an elf…
He was tall, graceful, with long silver hair flowing like moonlight.
Yet his presence was ethereal, his body half‑transparent, as though he was made of spirit and mana itself.
Nonetheless, he was alive. His eyes even seemed like it was reflecting both sorrow and awe.
"So he's here… The Fairy Queen's chosen…" He muttered.
He was neither fully mortal nor fully divine, but something in between… He was more like a guardian spirit bound to elven bloodlines.
He watched silently as the fortress braced against the tide of three armies.
Below, the zombies surged forward, led by their Kings.
Spitter Kings vomited acid that shredded the stone walls, Juggernaut Kings hurled boulders with monstrous strength, Fire Kings cloaked themselves in flames, and advanced types like Hunters, Lickers, Lurkers, Butchers, and Stalkers, crawled and leapt with terrifying speed.
Behind them, the vampires advanced in disciplined ranks. Thralls marched like expendable pawns. Low‑Tier Vampires were also there, helping.
As for the Vampire Knights with blackened armor, they seemed really terrifying considering their numbers…
Finally, the Elder Vampires hovering above with their blood magic swirling ominously made him a little worried for the Fairy Queen's chosen.
"How are they going to win this?" He mused.
From the skies and the earth came the dragon army. Wyverns circled above, and Salamanders crawled together with the Dragonoids that marched in formation… Then, from the back, the colossal Flood Dragon could be seen…
The spirit‑elf's eyes focused on the defenders, and soon, he realized that they were not worried at all…
Then, the tsunami happened, and soon, he realized where their confidence was coming from…
He watched as the turrets along the walls thundered, firing mana‑charged bolts into the ranks of vampires.
Elder Vampires tried to shield themselves, but the blasts tore through their defenses.
Archers lined the ramparts, loosing arrows tipped with elemental crystals.
Fire arrows ignited Thralls, ice arrows froze Hunters, and lightning arrows shattered the shields of Vampire Knights.
From within the fortress, bombs were hurled…
There were some Explosive Fire Bombs, Cryo‑Charges, Venom Bombs. Each detonation ripped apart clusters of zombies, dissolving their bodies into ash and piles of meat.
The spirit‑elf nodded approvingly. "They fight really well… Even the kings are not safe."
Indeed, he saw a Juggernaut King stagger as a Graviton Imploder crushed its massive frame, while a Fire King was extinguished by a Cryo‑Stasis blast.
Then his gaze shifted to the battlefield's titans… the five Trident Mechs.
Towering above all, they advanced in formation, steel frames fought as lightning from the barrier danced across their armor.
Their weapons were incredible…
One mech cleaved through Dragonoids with a massive blade, another fired javelins that exploded among wyverns…
Together, they turned their focus upon the Flood Dragon…
The spirit‑elf's eyes widened as he watched the clash.
'Even in the Fairy Realm, dragons weren't something that could be killed with simple weapons… But these iron golems are doing well…'
The Flood Dragon unleashed torrents of corrupted water, but the mechs braced themselves… 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Their cannons fired in unison, piercing the dragon's scales, while one mech grappled its massive body, driving a spear of mana into its chest.
The dragon roared in agony… It started thrashing wildly, but the mechs held firm.
Yet it was not only machines that impressed him.
Among the defenders, several key figures fought like unstoppable beings.
He saw a swordsman cleave through a Vampire Knight with a single strike, his blade was even glowing with holy light.
A super soldier clad in the Tactical Sentinel IV exosuit leapt into the air, tackling a wyvern mid‑flight and driving it into the ground.
Another warrior hurled bombs with perfect accuracy, striking a Zombie King directly and reducing it to ash.
"These mortals…" the spirit‑elf whispered. "They fight as though touched by divinity."
But then, the battlefield shifted.
The Vampire Lords moved. Hovering above, they raised their hands and crimson energy started to spread...
With a hiss, their bodies dissolved into streams of blood, flowing like liquid through the air.
The spirit‑elf's eyes narrowed. "Blood transformation… They'll bypass the barrier."
Indeed, the crimson streams seeped through cracks in the barrier, slithering into the fortress. Within moments, defenders screamed as their bodies convulsed… the Vampire Lords had possessed them, turning soldiers into puppets.
Chaos erupted inside the walls.
Yet the fortress was prepared. From the command chamber, talismans were raised!
Holy seals inscribed with these runes!
The talismans glowed, releasing waves of holy light!
Then, the spirit elf heard them…
"Haha! Good job, Natalie! Your Sacred Talisman's work!"
"Perfect! Kill the Vampire Lord!"
Apparently, the woman called Natalie was the culprit behind the Holy Spells…
The possessed defenders shrieked as the Vampire Lords were forced out!
Their blood forms expelled violently.
The spirit‑elf's eyes widened in awe. "Holy spells… It really worked…"
The expelled Vampire Lords wavered in the air as their forms weakened.
"Impossible!" one roared. "Our blood magic suppressed by mere talismans?!" Another Vampire Lord couldn't understand. However, he also started retreating as the holy light burned his cloak.
Meanwhile, the Dragonkin Elders watched the battle turn against them.
Their wyverns lay scattered, Salamanders burned, Dragonoids broken, and the Flood Dragon was wounded by the assault of the mechs.
One Elder became frustrated…
"This fortress… it is beyond our calculation."
"We cannot win. Retreat!"
