Ghost Catching System
Chapter 350 All Paper Tigers_1
Mu Xue was shocked. Just how strong was this man’s inner resolve? Her curiosity had turned into a fervent gaze. It was incredible. She was of high value, and with her figure and beauty, she was accustomed to receiving burning stares from others. Yet, here she was, admiring someone else.
While speaking, Chu Hao lit a cigarette and silently waited.
The personnel transporting the Spider Monster didn’t know that tiny cracks had appeared in the ice block sealing Arachne. After a long journey and much jostling, these cracks grew larger. Su Muyue, also observing Arachne, was secretly startled to see cracks forming on the ice.
CRACK!
The ice abruptly split open over a large area, and a sharp spider leg fiercely stabbed into the glass.
The surrounding crowd screamed, and Su Muyue couldn’t help but step back.
"The monster... The monster has broken the ice!"
Chen Fenglei, who was previously complacent, heard this, and his face changed dramatically.
At this moment, Yue Qinghong incredulously watched Chu Hao. How did he know this creature was going to break free from the ice?
BANG.
The ice encasing Arachne finally shattered, but she remained trapped within the glass.
HISS! The expression on Mu Xue, who formed the upper body of the Spider Monster, turned extremely vicious. She let out a hissing roar from her spider-like mandibles.
Li Yin was taken aback and said, "Holy moly, is this creature really from Europe and America? It looks just like one of our Huaxia’s Spider Spirits!"
Indeed, Arachne closely resembled a Huaxia Spider Spirit—it was a perfect match.
Chen Fenglei was also nervous for a moment. Taking a deep breath, he said, "Everyone, don’t be afraid. This glass is specially made; even bullets can’t penetrate it. She can’t come out."
Upon hearing his words, the crowd sighed with relief and took out their phones to take photos.
"Amazing! Is this Arachne? The Huaxia Spider Spirit!"
"Thank goodness it can’t break the glass."
The Spider Monster scanned the people present, continuously striking the glass cabinet. In its eyes, a flame of anger flickered as it said something unintelligible.
"What is it saying?" Cao Shanhe asked curiously.
Chen Fenglei furrowed his brows and said, "It’s not English."
Su Muyue said, "That’s ancient Greek. It seems it truly is an ancient species."
HISS! Arachne kept screeching.
Chu Hao warned everyone, "If you don’t want to die, back away. This thing is about to come out."
A group of people looked at Chu Hao in astonishment.
Chen Fenglei even said, "Impossible, this glass..."
Before he could finish speaking, he saw the sharpest point of Arachne’s leg fiercely pierce the very center of the glass. It was incredibly clever, possessing intelligence on par with a human; to break the glass, it only needed to find the center point—the weakest spot.
As expected, with a CRACK, the glass shattered into pieces, and Arachne let out a bizarre laugh.
Seeing that many people were still dazed, Chu Hao shouted, "What are you still愣着干什么 (léngzhe gànshénme - standing around foolishly for)? Do you want to be eaten?"
Reminded by Chu Hao, the crowd screamed and quickly moved away from the glass.
With a violent thrust, Arachne finally broke free from the glass!
Upon breaking free, it spat out a web from the tip of its abdomen, ensnaring some people. Then, laughing maniacally, it charged.
Chen Fenglei’s face went ashen, as the monster was closest to him.
"Evil creature, don’t you dare harm anyone!"
Yue Qinghong charged forward, wielding the Endless Ruler, and ferociously struck. The Endless Ruler was covered in ancient Inscriptions. When it hit Arachne, it was like a fiery whip lashing out. The monster shrieked, steadied itself, and then furiously charged at Yue Qinghong.
It was incredibly fast; its eight legs struck the ground like sharp knives, shattering the floor tiles.
Yue Qinghong roared. A Talisman appeared in his hand, which he slapped onto his own body. He then channeled his Inner Strength and threw a punch that BOOMED.
BANG!
The terrifying Inner Strength, combined with the power of the Talisman, sent Arachne rolling away like a ball, knocking over many dining tables.
The Longhu Mountain disciples were indeed true Demon Slayers.
Yue Qinghong retracted his fist, displaying the air of a Grandmaster, and arrogantly said, "A mere Spider Spirit dares to harm people in front of me, Yue Qinghong!"
This was very conceited. Those who were originally trying to escape stopped and looked on from a distance, some with faint hopes that Yue Qinghong would show his divine power and slay the European and American Spider Spirit.
But was it really going to be that simple?
Arachne lifted its abdomen and spat out swathes of spiderwebs, causing Yue Qinghong’s expression to change.
The area covered was too large and the webs too numerous; there was no way to dodge.
Yue Qinghong had no choice but to swing his Endless Ruler, trying to cut through the spiderwebs.
However, the Spider Monster was cunning; it shot webbing that caught Yue Qinghong’s hand and snatched away the Endless Ruler.
Without the Endless Ruler, the miserable Yue Qinghong was covered in spiderwebs. The more he struggled, the tighter they bound him.
Yue Qinghong panicked. Moments ago, he was acting tough, but now he was completely flustered. If only I had known this would happen, he thought, I should have faced the threat with utmost seriousness instead of showing off. But now it’s too late.
Yue Qinghong screamed, "Quick, pull me out!"
Seeing this, other Longhu Mountain disciples came forward to help.
Not good!
How could Arachne let them succeed? It dove. Yue Qinghong shouted, circulating his Inner Strength throughout his body, just as sharp, knife-like spider legs viciously thrust downward.
Yue Qinghong dodged the most vital points, but a leg pierced his left shoulder. Had it not been for his protective Inner Strength, he would have likely lost his entire arm.
"You vile beast!!"
The Longhu Mountain disciples were horrified. They hurriedly took out their tools and Talismans, attempting to subdue this demon.
Arachne, with just a fierce spin, sent them all flying. Large gashes were ripped open in their chests, leaving them in agonizing pain.
The crowd screamed and began to flee outside once more.
The Spider Monster spat out a web, sealing the exit. A cruel smile appeared on its face. She intended to devour everyone present.
"What do we do now! What do we do?"
A multitude of people despaired.
Yue Qinghong struggled fiercely, his left shoulder bleeding profusely, filled with utter despair. The Spider Spirit spat out silk, wrapping him into a cocoon, leaving only his head exposed. She planned to savor him later.
Throughout all of this, Yan Chen had remained elegant, sitting with a wine glass as if watching a play. He wondered when Chu Hao would make his move.
A wealthy person trembled and said, "Aren’t you a Mao Mountain Disciple? Hurry up and go!"
That Mao Mountain Disciple was terrified. "Brother," he said, "I’m just an outer sect disciple. Even Yue Qinghong, an inner sect disciple, couldn’t beat the Spider Spirit. If I go up, wouldn’t I be seeking death?"
"Master of the Corpse Chasing Lineage, hurry up and summon your invincible zombie!" another cried out.
The Master of the Corpse Chasing Lineage turned extremely pale and said, trembling, "Don’t joke. Although I’m of the Corpse Chasing Lineage, this craft has long been lost to us."
"Then why did you come here?"
The Master of the Corpse Chasing Lineage sheepishly said, "I heard there was good food and drink, so... I came."
Everyone practically spat blood! One after another, these so-called masters, who had boasted of their capabilities, were revealed to be mere paper tigers. These wealthy people realized they had been blind to encounter such useless individuals, especially after going out of their way to flatter them earlier.
Even Chen Fenglei was furious. The exchange meeting I went to such great lengths to arrange only attracted these incompetents, he fumed. What a miscalculation!
"Brother Feng Lei, hurry up and go! Haven’t you subdued this demon before?"
Chen Fenglei felt like he was about to cough up blood, not expecting to be pushed forward so quickly. I’m not like those from Longhu Mountain with martial arts Inner Strength, he thought. At best, I know Feng Shui and Mystical Arts. I can deal with Ghosts, but to actually fight this thing? Wouldn’t that be seeking death?
