Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Donating Again

Ugh, my head is killing me. I’m never drinking that much again! Shen Yibin rubbed his throbbing temples and struggled to sit up. He glanced toward the window; it looked like it was already noon.

He pulled back the curtains and opened the window, letting the breeze in. The air in the bedroom freshened up a bit, and the cool wind helped clear Shen Yibin’s head. Looking at the sun’s position, he estimated it was around twelve o’clock.

’I’m starving. I should go get something to eat.’ "Hah’Er, Egg, what do you two want for lunch?" Shen Yibin asked as he got dressed.

"Mmm~" Hah’Er responded weakly, but there was no reply from Egg. Shen Yibin instinctively glanced over at their little beds, and the sight scared the hell out of him. ’Holy shit, where’s Egg?’

Shen Yibin quickly finished getting dressed, not even bothering with socks, and flung open the bedroom door. He shouted, "Egg! Egg! Where did you run off to?" ’Boss Song is already in jail... could another thief have broken in?’

"Stop shouting! He’s on the sofa downstairs!" Before he could yell again, the door to the neighboring bedroom opened. Sylvie poked her head out, looking just as drained as he felt.

"Huh? How did he end up downstairs?" Shen Yibin racked his brain but could only remember the sight of Egg slapping his belly and dancing under the moon. He had no recollection of what happened afterward.

"Have you forgotten how loud Egg snores when he’s drunk? If we left him upstairs, how could we possibly sleep?" Sylvie replied with a shrug. "So I moved him downstairs."

"Oh, I think I’m starting to remember. We all got wasted yesterday, didn’t we? Were you the one who helped me to my room?" ’Does that mean she undressed me, too? Such a great kindness is truly impossible to repay. I guess I’ll just have to wait until she gets drunk and return the favor.’

"It wasn’t just you. I had to carry everyone back to their rooms. I put Egg in your room at first, but his snoring was just too loud, so I had to get up again and move him downstairs." Sylvie had really worn herself out last night.

"Alright, let’s just keep the shop closed today so everyone can rest. I’ll go make some congee. Can you wake the others up to eat?" Shen Yibin glanced at the balcony. ’Great, we still haven’t cleaned up the mess from last night.’

"I’m going to sleep a little longer. Call me when the food’s ready." With that, Sylvie closed her bedroom door and went back to catch up on her sleep. Last night had been far too chaotic.

Shen Yibin went back to his room and splashed cold water on his face, which finally woke him up completely. He slipped on his slippers and headed downstairs to find Egg. Hah’Er also clambered unsteadily out of his little bed, quickly cleaned himself up, and followed Shen Yibin.

’Damn, this little guy’s snoring is insane!’ His head had been too fuzzy to notice it earlier, but now that he was fully awake, Shen Yibin realized just how monstrous Egg’s snores were.

A cacophony rose from downstairs: Egg’s thunderous snores mixed with the protesting yelps and meows of the cats and dogs in their cages. While Sylvie moving Egg had brought peace to the humans upstairs, the pets downstairs had been suffering. They had been tormented by his snoring all night, completely unable to sleep.

The moment they saw Shen Yibin, the animals went into a frenzy, rattling their cages frantically as if begging him to drag the terrible noisemaker away so they could finally get some rest.

’Jeez, what’s got them so worked up?’ Seeing them in this state, Shen Yibin’s heart ached. He hurried to the sofa, grabbed Egg’s shoulders, and shook him vigorously. "Egg, wake up! Time to eat!"

"SNORRRE~ SNORRRE~" Egg’s head bobbled back and forth like a toy drum, but he was completely unfazed. His snores remained earth-shatteringly loud, and he slept on, dead to the world.

"Hmm?" Seeing this, Hah’Er scratched his head, then staggered toward the downstairs bathroom. He returned a moment later with a cup of cold water. He craned his neck to get a look at Egg’s tightly shut eyes, then took a mouthful of water and—PFFT!—sprayed it right in Egg’s face.

"Gah!" The cold splash made Egg shudder and sit bolt upright. He looked from side to side, then lunged at the gloating Hah’Er. ’Yep, he found the culprit.’

"Egg, come upstairs with me. Hah’Er, go feed the others and let them out of their cages for a bit." ’If he left Egg down here, the other furious pets would probably tear him to shreds.’

He made a pot of congee and a few light side dishes, then called Sakai Kaori and the others to eat. The food helped everyone sober up a little, but they were all still listless.

"Everyone’s exhausted, and the pets downstairs were kept up all night by Egg. Their Essence, Qi, and Spirit are all off, so we can’t have them see customers. Let’s just take the day off. You’re all free to do whatever you want this afternoon—go shopping, wander around, whatever." ’The pets were in no state to be seen by anyone. Their eyes were bloodshot and they all looked incredibly irritable. Trying to stay open would be pointless and might even hurt the store’s reputation.’

"Great! Qianqian, Sakai, let’s go shopping later! I haven’t been *shopping* in ages!" Sylvie was the first to jump at the idea.

"Um... can we bring Lord Raccoon Cat with us?" That was the first thing on Sakai Kaori’s mind.

"Thanks, Boss," the thoughtful Sun Qian asked, "but if we all go shopping, what will you do this afternoon?"

"Oh, I’m planning to go to the zoo to make a donation." Ever since his trip to the jade shop, Shen Yibin had been busy with other matters and hadn’t gotten around to it. Now that he had some free time, he figured he would take Hah’Er along and finally take care of it.

"Wow, I never knew you were so charitable, Boss," Sylvie said, a little surprised. "Want me to come with you? I know my way around charity work."

"No, it’s fine. You all just go shopping together." ’What do you mean you "never knew"? Have you forgotten I already donated over thirty million? Just thinking about it is depressing.’

After finishing their meal and completely cleaning up the mess, Shen Yibin finally headed out with Hah’Er. They got in the car, he keyed the Yunzhong City Zoo into the GPS, and they set off.

The Yunzhong City Zoo was situated at the foot of a mountain in the city’s southern suburbs. It wasn’t very large, and being quite far out, it didn’t attract many visitors. With no real income, it was impossible to maintain properly, and the entire place looked rather run-down.

So, when Shen Yibin had called to say he wanted to make a donation, he was met with an enthusiastic welcome. The zoo’s director even came to the entrance early, ready to greet him personally.
