Full-Time Public Enemy - Chapter 795 - 532: The Hanging Coffin and the Remains_4
Is it only against Professional Mutants, or do all Mutants exhibit this effect? Further verification is needed.
The same question applies to whether the Mutant Insect Race is similarly affected, which also requires further investigation.
Chen Gu waved his hands, and the skeletons under Entanglement Control gathered in front of him. However, due to safety concerns, Chen Gu did not dare to touch the skeletons himself.
After pondering, Chen Gu took out a huge safety box from his Dimensional Prison Ring, packed some of the skeletons into it, and dragged it behind him with a rope.
Then, Chen Gu switched back to the Radiation Missionary profession and released the Radiation Field, beginning to search the entire space.
Just as I thought, Chen Gu mused after a short while, then suddenly turned his gaze toward a particular suspended coffin.
The coffin inside this specific suspended coffin hadn't completely rotted away and was one of the few that had been preserved.
But as Chen Gu looked over, his Nuclear Fusion Ray Eyes activated. The coffin exploded with a BANG, spilling out a huge mass of burning iron threadworms!
A vast number of iron threadworms turned to ash, one by one, in the scorching flames. Once more than a third of them were lost, the stone platform and the statue flickered a few times. Then, they disappeared completely, like a projector being shut off.
Chen Gu didn't tell Xulong and the others they could open their eyes now. Dou Mao's body was still lying on the ground, and both the stone platform and the statue had vanished. Explaining Dou Mao's death, as well as the Mutant remains on the suspended coffins, was going to be a troublesome affair.
Chen Gu simply approached Xulong and the others. "Hold hands and follow me, and do not open your eyes!"
Xulong took Chen Gu's hand, followed by the other mercenaries. To Chen Gu's surprise, the client—the young girl—didn't join the mercenaries but instead took hold of Chen Gu's other hand.
Chen Gu glanced at the young girl in surprise. She remained indifferent and cold, offering no explanation as to how she had managed to accurately grab Chen Gu's other hand with her eyes closed.
Below the cliff of the suspended coffins, a triangular passage had been carved out, standing five meters tall. The group easily passed through. It wasn't until they had walked hundreds of meters that Chen Gu let go of their hands. "Alright, you can open your eyes now."
The mercenaries opened their eyes and looked around. "What about Dou Mao?"
Chen Gu said gravely, "She did not heed my advice, so her end was the same as Dao Fu's."
Xulong fell silent for a moment before shaking his head. "She... was just too headstrong."
Despite her nearly getting everyone killed, Xulong couldn't bring himself to speak ill of her. After all, she was a member of his team, and they had fought side by side for a long time.
Chen Gu was noncommittal. "Let's go. I feel we are getting closer to the truth."
But Xulong gave a wistful smile and glanced at the client. "We never cared about the truth; we just wanted to complete the commission as soon as possible."
The client spoke calmly, "Don't worry. The commission this time is enough for you to retire and live luxuriously for the rest of your life."
Xulong hesitated for a moment, then said, "Can I exchange the reward for something else?"
The young girl, her eyes hidden behind her mask, saw through him at once. "You wish to advance?"
Xulong sighed and nodded. "It's only now that I truly understand. As a Professional, no amount of money compares to one's own strength. You said we could choose before. I chose money then. Can I change it now?"
The client agreed very readily. "Of course, you can."
Xulong said, "Thank you for your generosity."
Walking in front, Chen Gu suddenly stopped. Xulong asked, "What's wrong?"
Chen Gu pointed to the ground. "Those footprints, they've disappeared."
They had been tracking the giant egg monster. Due to its large body, it had left clear marks on the ground no matter how hard the rocks—even around the stone platform and the statue.
But in this passage, they had suddenly vanished here.
This passage was quite spacious for Chen Gu and the others. However, for the giant egg monster, it must have been a tight squeeze, leaving friction marks on the surrounding stone walls. Now, those marks and the footprints had disappeared altogether.
