Gu Xi shook her head slightly at Ye Junhan.

Ye Junhan didn’t move. He stood silently by her side, his grip on his blade tightening imperceptibly.

Gu Xi glanced at the sprout wrapped around Ye Junhan’s wrist. She paused, then looked back up at the man across from them.

"Superpower Seeds... there aren’t many of those, are there?" she asked softly.

The man across from them glanced at Ye Junhan’s wrist. "Very few."

He paused, his gaze returning to Gu Xi. He explained in a gentle voice, "As far as I know, only one pair of Superpower Seeds is born in the universe at any given time. Oh, and by the way, the term ’Superpower Seed’ is just what you low-level, carbon-based lifeforms call it."

At this, a strange look crossed the man’s stiff, twisted face. He seemed to drift into a memory, and only after a long moment did he continue, "But to more advanced beings, they are known as God Seeds."

"It is said that God Seeds are the universe’s origin power, and a pair is born only once every tens of thousands of years." The man’s voice was still low and slow, yet it carried an undercurrent of fanatical excitement.

It was deeply unsettling.

Gu Xi, however, was completely unaffected.

She thought for a moment, speaking as if to herself, yet also posing a question to the man. "You just said that Superpower Seeds always appear in pairs. Does that mean... the two seeds share some sort of special connection?"

"Xiaoxi, you’ve always been a clever girl." The man nodded slightly, his tone carrying a smug sort of pride, as if her intelligence was a credit to him.

"I see." Gu Xi nodded slowly and recalled the sprout, which was reluctant to leave Ye Junhan’s wrist. Her line of questioning suddenly shifted. "So, the only way to find one Superpower Seed... is to use the other to lure it out."

She looked up at the man across from her. "Yun Ye, am I right?"

Though phrased as a question, her tone was utterly certain.

The man knew Gu Xi had figured it out. He didn’t deny it, but admitted it outright. "Yes."

"So, you really did escape from the Land of Death all those years ago?" Without even waiting for his reaction, Gu Xi continued her deduction. "Back then, when the apocalypse suddenly struck humanity, someone proposed the Starfire Plan to preserve the last embers of the human race."

"They buried a number of Hibernation Chambers beneath the A City Reservoir and left behind a group of guardians to watch over them."

"But what no one expected was that a Superpower Seed had been accidentally left behind here."

"And you," Gu Xi looked up at the man across from her, "you must have been following that Superpower Seed and were accidentally stranded on this planet as well, weren’t you?"

The man’s expression faltered, but he didn’t deny her words.

Gu Xi sighed softly, her mind racing. "My guess is, you always wanted to tame that Superpower Seed and make it your own. But you failed."

This wasn’t just a wild guess. Gu Xi was making a logical deduction based on the facts she had pieced together.

"You didn’t want the Superpower Seed to fall into anyone else’s hands, letting them reap the rewards of your labor. So you simply destroyed all the survivors here. You even tried to use them to lure out the Seed."

"Unfortunately for you, the Superpower Seed’s power was too great. It had been subtly transforming the bodies of the survivors in the Hibernation Chambers. So you failed again, and this time you were severely injured..."

’Otherwise, that mutant in my pocket dimension who claims to be a guardian would never have survived.’

’After all, Yun Ye’s abilities were far beyond what any of this planet’s superhumans could handle.’ 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Gu Xi stared intently at the man across from her and continued, "You eventually fled this place and, by some unknown means, became Yun Ye."

As she said this, Gu Xi noticed vortexes beginning to swirl in the depths of the man’s pure black eyes.

And his stiff, twisted face began to warp unpredictably again.

Gu Xi mentally raised her guard. "Later, you found me and detected the Superpower Seed’s aura on me. You wanted to take my Seed, but you didn’t know that Li Ming had never, ever told me about it."

"I knew nothing. In fact," she took a step forward, her gaze locked on Yun Ye, "back then, the Superpower Seed wasn’t even in my possession."

"You spent years with me, perfectly disguised, but came up empty-handed. So then... you used the Zombie Emperor to lure me to City A."

"In fact, that so-called Zombie Emperor was probably your creation as well. My guess is you originally planned to place it in this swamp. But a Zombie Emperor is still a Zombie Emperor; it had developed its own consciousness and somehow broke free of your control, escaping the swamp."

"You’d actually already discovered this had happened. So that night, you picked a fight with Xiao Yu and pretended to storm off in a rage..."

"I’m guessing you planned to lure the Zombie Emperor back here. But you didn’t expect Qee Ran to try and break up the fight. He kept his eyes on you, and since you wanted to cooperate with the Qee Family, you couldn’t afford to have a falling out with him. So that night, you never got the chance to act."

"And after that, you lost your chance entirely."

Gu Xi’s voice was soft and slow, yet it carried an undeniable edge. She looked up at the man. "So, everything you did... it was all just to use me. To use me to find the other Superpower Seed for you."

"No," Yun Ye denied, much to her surprise. "Xiaoxi, I stayed by your side because I truly like you..."

"You like my abilities, you mean." Gu Xi calmly interrupted his desperate explanation. "Oh, and you always used to say we were the same kind. I could never quite figure that out; it always felt like something was off."

’The logic just wasn’t clear. It always felt so forced.’

"But now," she stared at him, her gaze calm and profound, "after learning about the Superpower Seeds, I think I finally understand completely." Her voice was a mere whisper. "It was because of the Superpower Seeds, wasn’t it?"

"Yes." This time, Yun Ye didn’t deny it. Instead, a fanatical gleam entered his eyes. "Because only we—only *we*—are the masters of the Superpower Seeds! The chosen ones! Only we can stand at the pinnacle of the universe..."

Gu Xi suddenly laughed. "Masters of the Superpower Seeds?" she retorted.

The man’s intuition screamed that something was wrong. Then he heard Gu Xi say, "But from start to finish, the Superpower Seed never chose you, did it? So what kind of master does that make you?"

At her words, the man’s stiff, twisted face darkened instantly. "Xiaoxi!"

"And that glass of wine..." Gu Xi looked at him, her expression turning complex for a moment.
