Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 65: He Was The Best Husband One Could Ever Ask For
Having spent more than a month with Christopher, she had always seen him treat her well.
He was always gentle and considerate to her.
Even her parents didn’t treat her so well since young.
Only Christopher treated her that well.
He gave her a feeling of being cared for.
However... even if she knew that he was a nice person, she could not ignore his true identity.
Janice thought to herself, "How nice it would be if there wasn’t such a huge gap between us."
However, she couldn’t change reality.
Janice was still in a bad mood even after she finished her meal.
She walked towards the exit and told Christopher, "Pass me the dog food. I’ll go home myself."
However, Christopher stared at her and refused, "It’s already so late. It’s not safe for you to go home alone. Let me take you home."
Janice shook her head. She couldn’t stay with Christopher any longer.
Otherwise, she would change her mind.
She insisted. "I want to go back by myself."
Christopher stopped insisting once he heard her. After all, he couldn’t force her.
He continued, "Well, I’ll leave once you get into the taxi."
Janice did not refuse.
Christopher only returned to his car and drove off once he saw her leaving with the dog food in tow.
Back home, Janice fed the dog food given by Christopher to Nino. She reached out and stroked Nino’s fur before heading to the bathroom to wash up.
The next day, Janice received a call from her father.
"Janice. Do you still remember? My birthday is in two days. Gladys wants to throw a party to celebrate it. Bring Christopher with you."
Janice was about to explain to him before the call ended. It was impossible for Christopher to attend the party.
Feeling depressed, she sulked.
Anyway, it didn’t matter anymore since they wouldn’t care if Christopher would attend the party.
After work, she invited Yvonne to go to the shopping mall together to pick up some gifts.
After buying a tie for her father’s birthday, Janice and Yvonne went to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
Yvonne couldn’t help but ask her when she saw that Janice was sullen the whole afternoon.
"Janice, are you feeling better now?"
Janice shook her head. She didn’t need to pretend to be happy in front of Yvonne.
"Are you still thinking about Christopher?" Yvonne asked.
Janice nodded and told Yvonne about Christopher’s deeds.
Yvonne was surprised.
She knew that Christopher was handsome but she had never known that he had supported and helped Janice so much in secret.
"Isn’t he the best husband every woman would ever want in the world?" She thought.
As Janice’s best friend, Yvonne couldn’t help but praise Christopher.
"Janice, your husband treats you so well. He’s a rare gem. Don’t ever lose him."
Of course, Janice knew that Christopher treated her well, but his identity...
Yvonne knew what Janice was thinking. She asked, "Are you still thinking about his identity?"
Janice was silent, as though she agreed to what Yvonne had said.
Yvonne was frustrated.
She didn’t know what to say to Janice about this matter.
Christopher was the best husband one could ever ask for.
How could Janice ask for a divorce? She just didn’t know how to value someone like that.
Yvonne wanted to knock some sense into Janice.
Thinking of that, Yvonne exasperatedly asked, "Oh dear, what else can I say?" As Janice’s best friend, she knew her the best. Janice was as stubborn as a mule.
...
Yvonne stared at Janice’s gloomy face. Suddenly an idea popped into her mind. She darted her eyes mischievously and said.
"Eat up. After that, I’ll take you around town to relieve your boredom."
After dinner, Yvonne drove her car and left with Janice.
"Yvonne, where are you taking me?"
Janice was looking at the scenery outside the window and wondered.
Yvonne blinked her eyes mysteriously. "You’ll know when you get there."
Janice stopped asking questions after she heard Yvonne.
Not long after, the car stopped at the entrance of a bar named "Night".
Janice was surprised. "Yvonne, you said you’re taking me around town. Are you referring to this bar?"
Yvonne nodded.
"But I can’t drink."
Janice hesitated for a moment before replying to Yvonne.
Yvonne thought to herself, "I wouldn’t take you here if you could drink."
She replied, "It doesn’t matter. I’m here."
Janice thought for a while and got out of the car with Yvonne.
When they entered the bar, Yvonne ran to the bar counter and mumbled intelligibly to the bartender. Soon, a waiter brought them a few glasses of cocktail.
"Janice, let’s drink up and forget all your sorrows today." Yvonne said as she placed a glass of cocktail in front of Janice.
Janice didn’t pay much attention to it. After all, the alcohol content in the cocktail was low and she wouldn’t be drunk even if she finished a glass. She picked up the cocktail and gulped it down.
Yvonne was sitting beside Janice, staring at her as she downed the cocktail. She quickly handed her another.
"Come on, let’s have another drink."
Janice stared at the cocktail in Yvonne’s hands. She paused for a moment. Then she took the cocktail and drank it. But this time, she felt dizzy after finishing the drink.
She had just placed the glass on the table when Yvonne handed her another drink.
Janice was perplexed. Yvonne knew that she couldn’t drink much.
Usually Yvonne would cut her off, but today she kept offering her more drinks. "Yvonne, why are you encouraging me to drink today?" Janice rubbed her temples and questioned Yvonne.
Yvonne blinked mischievously.
"Haven’t you heard of the saying, "Drink your sorrows away"? Drink up. I’m here for you anyway."
Janice thought that Yvonne was right. After all, she was so anxious and unhappy recently that she could not sleep. At least, she could sleep well if she was drunk.
Thinking of that, she picked up the cocktail and drank it.
This time, before she could put down the glass, she collapsed on the table.
Yvonne stared at Janice, who was lying on the table in her drunken state. Yvonne tried to nudge her. "Janice?"
There was no response from the other woman.
Yvonne’s lips curled into a wide grin after knowing that Janice was indeed drunk. She picked up her phone on the table and dialed a number.
In the club, Christopher was dragged by Daniel and James to have some drinks.
He wasn’t in the mood. He was sitting there in silence even after they were there.
Daniel and James looked at each other.
James started the conversation. "Chris, are you still angry with me?" Christopher ignored him.
James was frustrated. "Is he acting like this all because of a woman?"
He said, "I promise you. The next time I meet your wife, I will apologize to her and seek her forgiveness."
Christopher turned even gloomier after he heard James.
It was hard for him to meet Janice now, and he even had to use Nino as an excuse.
James would never get to meet Janice. He would better forget about it.
James saw that Christopher was ignoring him. He was about to say something before Daniel stopped him.
Daniel whispered, "Didn’t you see that Chris is unhappy? Don’t mention it anymore, leave him alone. I’ll drink with you."
James relented after he heard Daniel.
...
The two of them were drinking.
Christopher sat beside them and thought about Janice. She had yet to return home.
He hesitated for a moment. Then he picked up his phone and was about to make a call when the phone rang.
Christopher stared at the ringing phone and was startled. Then, he left the VIP room.
Both Daniel and James were drinking when they saw him rushing out eagerly. Both of them were surprised.
After all, Christopher was always calm and cool as an ice cube.
Christopher went out to answer the phone.
"Janice?"
"I’m not Janice. I’m her best friend, Yvonne."
Christopher was surprised. Then he recalled that incident in the barbeque restaurant. Janice’s best friend had the same name. It was her.
He asked, "Where’s Janice?"
Yvonne glanced at Janice who was right beside her and continued, "Don’t worry about her. Just answer my question. Are you sincere to Janice? Or perhaps, you’re used to having beautiful girls around you and thought that it was interesting to be with average girls like her?"
Christopher was stunned when he heard Yvonne’s question on the other side of the phone. He replied, " Miss White, aren’t you Janice’s best friend? How could you describe her in such a way? She was never average-looking to me. Also, it doesn’t matter whether you believe me or not, I’m serious with her."
Yvonne heard him and praised him secretly in her heart.
She purposely provoked him because she wanted to test him.
After all, Janice was different from other girls. She was not materialistic or hungry for power. She was a down-to-earth person.
She was different from those girls in the upper class.
The rich types usually prefer to flirt when they were surrounded by beautiful girls.
Maybe Christopher was the same.
That was why Yvonne wanted to test him.
Yvonne was quite satisfied with his answer just now. At least he respected Janice.
Only then she would trust Janice with Christopher.
Yvonne said, "If that’s the case, you can come over now. Janice is drunk."
Once he heard that Janice was drunk, Christopher quickly said, "Okay, I’ll be right there."
He put away his phone and left in a hurry before he could even inform Daniel and James.
Yvonne put away her phone and glanced at Janice, who was lying on the table in her drunken state. She smiled and mumbled, "Don’t blame me, Janice. This is all for your own good."
Christopher arrived at the bar shortly. He was surprised when he saw Janice, who was lying drunkenly on the table at the bar.
"Why did she drink so much?"
Christopher frowned and asked Yvonne.
Yvonne replied, "It’s all because of you."
Christopher glanced at Yvonne and didn’t reply to her.
Yvonne chuckled, "Seriously, what are you up to? Janice is such a nice girl. How could you lie to her for so long?"
Christopher frowned.
"I didn’t mean to lie to her."
Yvonne thought in her head, "Maybe you didn’t mean it, but Janice hate being lied to."
Nevertheless, it was their private matter and she shouldn’t decide for Janice. She told Christopher, "I pass Janice over to you. Do whatever you want."
After that, Yvonne left the bar with her bag.
Christopher glanced at Janice, who was lying on the bar, unconscious. He frowned and reached out to carry her in his arms. Then he left the bar.
He placed Janice in the passenger seat and fastened her seat belt. Then he shut the door and returned to the driver’s seat. He was about to start driving before he heard Janice.
Janice was mumbling unintelligibly in her drunken state.
