Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 166: The Mistress Was Jealous
Janice said, "No, and Nino isn’t fat either."
Christopher frowned, but he had nothing to say. He walked forward and also played with Nino. However, he thought of something and said, "By the way, have you been busy these days?"
Janice pondered for a moment before replying, "Not very busy."
"Then... are you free on next Wednesday?" He asked.
"Next Wednesday?" Janice asked in confusion, "Isn’t that a workday? Is it a special day?"
Christopher’s eyes twinkled. "No, I was just asking casually."
Janice felt that he was a little weird. However, she did not think too much about it and said, "That’s hard to say. You know that as reporters, I can’t predict it exactly."
Christopher understood. He raised his eyebrows and said, "Then... let’s talk about it later."
Janice nodded. At this moment, Nino whined, as if she was uncomfortable. Janice immediately placed her down.
But when she put down Nino, Nino immediately rubbed against Christopher’s feet.
It was as if she was begging for a hug coquettishly.
Janice was a little depressed.
"Don’t touch him. He just said that you were fat."
Christopher chuckled while picking up Nino in his arms, teasing, "The Mistress is jealous."
"I’m not jealous." Janice glared angrily at him.
"By the way, what shall we eat tonight?" Feeling hungry, Janice asked.
Hearing this, Christopher put down Nino.
"Let’s go out and eat. I have heard that there’s a new Vietnamese restaurant nearby."
Janice nodded. She also wanted to have a try.
She said, "Then I’ll go get changed."
With that, she turned around and went upstairs.
He waited downstairs. When Janice disappeared from his sight, he called Rob.
"Inform the TV station that Janice must have some time on next Wednesday."
Hearing Rob’s answer, he hung up the phone. When he thought of the surprise he wanted to give her that day, he smiled subconsciously.
Upstairs, Janice picked out a set of casual clothes from the wardrobe and put them on. Just as she was about to go downstairs, she received a call from Lucy.
"Janice, I have to go on an errand. You may need to keep an eye on dogs."
Janice nodded. "Don’t worry. Leave this matter to me."
After hanging up, she went downstairs and said to Christopher who was waiting there, "Let’s go with Nino. We can take a walk by the lake after dinner."
Christopher nodded.
Janice picked Nino up from the ground.
The restaurant was near their home, so the two of them walked there.
Along the way, Janice kept holding Nino in her arms, making it impossible for Christopher to hold her hand.
He tried several times but failed, then he complained, "Why do you keep holding her? Let her walk by herself."
Janice said, "No. You don’t know that quite a few dogs have disappeared recently. Our Nino is so cute; of course I need to protect her."
"What do you think, Nino?" As she spoke, she lovingly stroked Nino’s head.
He felt that she was treating Nino as her child, so he teased, "Why do I feel that you treat her as a child?"
Janice said, "Isn’t she just a child? Don’t you treat her as a child?"
...
Christopher thought to himself, "I won’t treat her as a child."
Although he liked Nino, his child would never be a pet dog.
<I want to have my own child. The child of Janice and me. However, Janice seems to have never thought of this. Every time we sleep together, she wouldn’t forget to take contraception measures.>
Therefore, Christopher felt very helpless.
But he didn’t know how to tell her.
At this moment, a thought flashed through his mind when he saw her hugging Nino so intimately.
<I need to change her mind little by little. But how? This seems to be a difficult problem.>
While he was depressed, he suddenly saw a two- or three- year -old girl giggling inside the KFC through the window. Her smile was as pure and lovely as an angel’s, as if the whole world had suddenly become pure when she smiled.
Next to the little girl sat a man and a woman, who seemed to be her parents. At this time, they seemed to be infected by her smile and also smiled warmly.
Almost in an instant, Christopher felt that his desire for a child was even stronger.
He subconsciously turned to look at Janice whose attention was focusing on Nino.
He couldn’t help but frown, then thought of something. "Here we are."
Janice looked at him in surprise. "Didn’t you say you were going to eat the Vietnamese cuisine?"
He replied, "I suddenly change my idea."
Janice looked inside. "Since you want to eat, then let’s go."
The two walked in together. When looking for a seat, he subconsciously looked at the family of three.
He wondered if she was infected by their warm atmosphere, maybe she would want to give birth to one.
When he thought up to here, he said, "Let’s go sit over there."
Janice didn’t think too much about it, nodding as she followed.
The two of them sat down. After ordering their food, his eyes were fixed on the family of three.
Janice followed his gaze out of curiosity.
"What are you looking at?"
He replied, "The baby over there is so cute."
"Quite cute," she nodded.
Hearing her words, his eyes lightened.
"How is it? Do you want to give birth to a baby?"
Only then did she realize what he truly wanted to say.
She said, "Not yet."
As she spoke, she stroked Nino’s back.
Although he was a little disappointed, he did not say anything. After all, he couldn’t force her on this matter.
After dinner, the two of them took Nino for a walk by the lake.
This time, in order to prevent her from hugging Nino again, he simply took the initiative to hold Nino in his hand.
Therefore, he’d be able to use another hand to hold Janice.
She didn’t realize his intention and just let him hold her hand.
She felt that she had been so busy recently that she didn’t have time to come out and walk around with him.
At this time, while walking along the long corridor next to the lake, a cool breeze blew by. It was very comfortable and pleasant.
She said, "In the future, if we’re not busy, we can often go out for a walk. What do you think?"
"OK, I’m available anytime. I’m afraid that you don’t have the time."
"I’ll try my best."
Suddenly, they heard a dog barking.
...
She stopped and listened carefully. Then she asked, "Did you hear anything?"
Christopher stopped and listened carefully. However, he shook his head and said, "No."
Janice frowned. She’d clearly heard it.
"It’s weird. Is it an auditory hallucination?"
So she didn’t care too much and just continued to walk with him.
When the two reached a big tree, they saw two men suddenly stopping sneakily under the tree with a sack in their hands.
Although the streetlights by the lake were dim and she couldn’t see them clearly, as a reporter, she could tell that the two people must be up to no good.
In order to make clearly the actual facts, she decided to get closer and have a look. Therefore, she was about to walk over, but she was stopped by Christopher. "What are you doing?"
Janice immediately gave him a silencing gesture and said, "Those two seems weird; let’s go take a look."
He followed her gaze and looked over. He frowned and said, "I think you have thought too much. It’s time to get off work."
"But I seemed to have heard a dog bark just now."
He frowned. "Why didn’t I hear? You’re too sensitive. Let’s go. We’re here for a walk, not to meddle in other people’s business."
Then he grabbed her by the hand and was about to leave. Somehow, Nino suddenly broke free of her leash and ran to the two men.
Seeing this, Janice and Christopher hurried to catch up with her, but it was too late.
Nino ran over and shouted madly at them.
Her shouts seemed to shock the two men. They glanced at each other, and then each took out a fruit knife and aimed it at Janice and Christopher.
"Don’t come any closer. If you come, I will hurt you."
At this time, the two knives were less than two steps away from them. In addition, this place was not the main road. Even if they wanted to call for help, no one could hear them.
Christopher subconsciously pulled Janice behind him.
"Don’t be afraid, I’m here." He comforted her.
Janice nodded but she still felt a bit worried. After all, they had knives.
Just as she was worried, Christopher said to them, "My dog has been trained. If you don’t want to be attacked, put down the knife."
The two men looked at each other.
"Don’t try to scare us. Do you think we are idiots? How could such a dog be fierce?"
"That’s right. She’s just like a lamb. Mind your own business and leave quickly," another man added.
Christopher sneered, "It seems that you are really stubborn."
As he spoke, he whistled. Nino then pounced on them in an instant. The two men probably did not expect that Nino would be so fierce all of a sudden. One of them dropped the knife in his hand directly out of fear.
The other one, seeing this, began to panic as well. He waved his knife and chopped down towards Nino.
Seeing this, Christopher immediately rushed forward to protect Nino. In a few moments, he knocked them to the ground.
The two realized that they were no match for him, then they quickly scrambled to escape.
It was dark, and Christopher did not know if they had any accomplices to support. Therefore, he did not chase after them, but walked toward the sack under the tree with Janice.
