Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 164: You’d Better Not In The Future
Christopher didn’t care whether she really didn’t understand or not. He just said, "I remember that I warned you to stay away from Janice."
Since Christopher had said it directly, there was no need for Sophie to continue pretending.
"Did she tell you something?" Before she figured it out, she had to make an attempt first.
However, Christopher stared at her without saying a word.
Sophie gradually began to panic.
"Chris, I really didn’t say anything or do anything," Sophie hurriedly said.
When she panicked, Christopher already got an answer.
He narrowed his eyes and took a sudden step forward.
Sophie didn’t have any mental preparation and took a step back in fright. "Chris..."
Before she could continue, Christopher interrupted, "You’d better not. And you’d better not do anything in the future, otherwise..."
His eyes were unusually cold enough to make people feel uneasy.
In fact, Sophie was really scared. She covered her chest and did not dare to look straight into his eyes.
Christopher ignored her frightened expression and turned to leave without hesitation.
Sophie stood there clutching her chest, and her face became deathly pale. Only after a long time did she manage to calm down slightly, but she was still in shock.
She covered her pale face, and a trace of humiliation gradually surfaced in her eyes.
Gritting her teeth, she let out a howl from the bottom of her heart. When she met the gazes of those around her, she instantly reverted to her usual elegancy.
<Janice! You dare to complain about me. Then don’t blame me for what I am going to do!"
Thinking of this, she narrowed her eyes viciously, then opened the door and walked in with an aggrieved look on her face.
Nathan was talking to Benjamin when he saw Sophie coming in with red-rimmed eyes. He frowned slightly and asked, "What’s the matter, Sophie?"
She pursed her lips and shook her head. "Nothing."
Although she said that, she still pretended as if she had been wronged by someone.
Of course, Nathan would not believe "nothing". He seemed to understand
something, and then said to Benjamin, "I will ask someone to tell you the details later."
"Then I’ll be waiting for good news from you." Benjamin stood up sensibly.
When he passed by Sophie, his lips curled into a meaningful smile.
After Benjamin left, Nathan looked at her and said, "There are no outsiders here. Tell me the truth." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Hearing this, Sophie said in an aggrieved tone, "Dad, from now on, you shouldn’t get me and Chris together anymore. I feel like he’s starting to hate me." As she spoke, her eyes reddened again.
Hearing her words, Nathan roughly understood.
He knew it was because of Christopher.
He comforted, "Sophie, I know he has gone too far, but don’t worry. I’ve already made a plan. This time, I won’t let you suffer again." His tone sounded very confident.
His words were exactly what she was waiting for.
However, she couldn’t show it on her face. So, she pretended to be embarrassed and said, "But, in this way, Chris will misunderstand me even more. How can you quarrel with him for my sake?"
Nathan snorted, "So what? If he respected me, he wouldn’t have opposed me all this time."
Sophie was about to say something, but Nathan’s phone suddenly rang. He picked it up.
"Mr. Bateman, Old Mr. Allson just called and said that he would like you to come over."
...
"Sophie, Dad is busy. Why don’t you go home first?" Nathan hung up the phone and said to Sophie.
Although Sophie still wanted to say something, she only nodded her head. "OK." Only then did Nathan get up and walk toward the door.
Sophie looked at him who left in a hurry. She wondered who it was that made her father to leave in such a hurry.
After Christopher left, he did not see Janice at the door. He looked around and walked to the exhibition auditorium on the side. As expected, he saw her sitting alone in the front row of the auditorium.
At this time, the auditorium had already been emptied. She was sitting there alone.
She raised her head and stared at the empty stage. The soft light shone her face, giving her an indescribable loneliness.
Seeing this, a sense of guilt rose in his heart.
He knew the reason that she had said that she still had work to do before because she didn’t want him to feel burdened.
<If my father didn’t refuse to accept her, she would not have hidden here. In the end, it is I who owe her.>
Thinking of this, Christopher’s eyes darkened. He slowly walked over and sat beside her.
"What are you looking at?"
He followed her gaze.
Janice turned to look at him, but her gaze was absent-minded.
"Have you done?" Christopher nodded and asked, "Why are you sitting here alone?"
Janice paused for a while to hide her feeling and pretended to be relaxed. "There is pretty quiet, and I can sort out my thoughts."
She hid her emotions very well, but he still caught the disappointment in her eyes. Christopher didn’t expose it. He stood up and reached out his hand to her. "Let’s go."
Janice looked up at him when she heard this, and then she slowly stretched out her hand, stood up, and allowed Christopher to hold her hand as they left.
As soon as they came out, they bumped into Nathan.
All stopped in their tracks. Nathan glanced sharply at the two holding hands and then continued walking forward with an expressionless face.
After he left, the two looked at each other and continued to walk forward.
Along the way, neither of them spoke in the car.
The atmosphere in the car seemed a little dull.
After a long while, Christopher asked, "What do you want to eat for lunch?" Janice thought for a while and said, "I might not be able to have lunch with you." "Why?" Christopher looked at her.
Janice didn’t reply immediately. Later, she said, "I have to go back to the TV station." "It’s late. Shouldn’t we eat first?" Christopher frowned.
"The news should be timely, so I can’t afford to be delayed," Janice replied. "How about your lunch?"
"I’ll eat in the TV station," she said. Christopher frowned. "Well, I’ll go with you."
"How can we do that? That’s the cafeteria of the TV station. You are an outsider."
Christopher frowned. "Although I am not official, I’m still a member of the TV station."
His words were irrefutable, but even so, Janice felt that she could not allow him to go with her.
After all, everyone in the TV station was astute. If he really went with her, it would be terrible.
If they knew that he was the mysterious major shareholder, she would probably be ridiculed again though she had worked so hard for that news.
...
She said, "No. You’ve said that you’re not official, so you’d better not go."
Hearing this, Christopher said, "Okay, I won’t go."
He frowned. It was clear that he was unhappy.
Janice looked over and blinked her eyes. "What’s wrong? Are you unhappy because I don’t allow you to come with me?"
"No."
He moved his eyes away, looked ahead, and pretended not to care.
Janice knew that he was lying because his unhappiness was on his face.
Although he was usually very calm, sometimes he was no different from a child when he was angry.
She said, "All right, I’ll eat with you near the TV station. How about that?" "That’s more like it," Christopher cockily said.
Janice was a little speechless but she still added, "But you have to promise me that we will go our separate ways after we’re done eating."
"Deal." Christopher readily agreed.
Then, the car stopped in front of a restaurant near the TV station.
The two of them got out of the car, walked in, found a quiet corner and sat down.
After ordering the dishes, Janice recalled the situation at the trade fair. It seemed that Christopher did not grab any good projects at the fair. Instead, his father obtained many projects.
And those projects were all robbed from Christopher.
Furthermore, she was able to tell that Nathan had done it on purpose.
She asked, "You didn’t get any project today."
"There’s nothing I like," Christopher said.
Janice frowned. "Really? Why do I feel like it’s because of me?"
"Because of you?"
Christopher looked puzzled.
Janice knew that even if it was because of her, he wouldn’t admit to it.
Although he didn’t admit, as a reporter, she could see the hostility between father and son in this fair.
It seemed that Christopher did not fight back, and she knew the reason better than anyone else.
She pondered deeply for a moment before she said, "In short, you must not give up anything because of me."
<If he really gives up something for me, I would be under a lot of pressure. It’s unfair. I don’t like it, though it has always been unfair. After all, we were not on the same starting line from the very beginning. Although I have been working hard to shorten the distance between us. Unfortunately, I might not succeed.>
Hearing her words, Christopher froze for a moment, and then he said in a relaxed and warm tone, "How could it be? Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing."
Therefore, Janice didn’t pursue the matter. Nathan rushed to the Allsons’ villa. "Dad, are you looking for me?"
This was the only time after his divorce with Wanda that Old Mr. Allson had requested to see him.
How could he refuse to come here?
Old Mr. Allson sat on the sofa in the living room. He did not even lift his eyebrows when he saw Nathan entering and panting. "Sit down."
Only then did Nathan sit down on the sofa.
Old Mr. Allson cut straight to the chase. "How dare you make use of me!"
Hearing this, Nathan had a rough idea of why his father-in-law asked him to come over.
"Dad..."
"Do you think I don’t know what you’re up to? You want to make use of an old man like me? No way!" Old Mr. Allson interrupted him angrily.
Nathan knew that he couldn’t fool him.
