Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 160: Will You Betray Your Family For Me?
Instantly, the bitterness in her mouth turned into one of sweetness.
"How is it?" Christopher looked over.
Janice nodded repeatedly, but she suddenly thought of something.
She put down the empty bowl and immediately said, "Honey, you have to testify for me. I’ve already taken all tonics."
Christopher nodded. "OK."
"Then let’s call grandpa now, shall we?"
Hearing this, he frowned.
"No need. You have already taken them. Why do you have to call him?"
"I promised him that I would tell him as soon as I finished drinking them," Janice insisted.
Christopher stared at her seriousness and couldn’t help frowning. "You really..." He had nothing to say.
However, the moment he met her serious gaze, he suddenly thought of something and asked, "You’re not trying to please him, are you?"
Janice didn’t say anything. She stood there with her lips pursed.
Christopher understood that he guessed it right. He was wondering the reason why she started to make medicine as soon as she came back.
He thought for a moment and said, "Grandpa is not the kind of person who will be easily influenced. Once he likes someone, he never changes his opinion of them. He is just sad because he misses grandma."
"But, if it wasn’t for that dress, he wouldn’t be so melancholic right now," Janice said emotionally.
Christopher frowned. "You’re wrong. Even if it weren’t for that dress, he would still miss grandma, because that day was his birthday. Every year, he gets in a bad move on that day."
Janice didn’t know whether his words were true or not. After all, he had said something similar to that to comfort her, but in the end, she found that he was actually not sure.
Therefore, at this moment, she didn’t know whether she should believe him or not, but she couldn’t help asking, "Really?"
"Of course it’s true."
Christopher could tell from her expression that she didn’t believe him, so he simply said, "I promise, it’s absolutely true this time."
Janice chuckled when he saw his seriousness. However, tears rolled down her cheeks.
Christopher was a little flustered.
"Why are you crying?"
He hurriedly picked up a napkin from the table to wipe her tears.
Janice choked with sobs. "I thought that he had lost all fondness for me."
When she was in the storeroom, she was very worried because she was very afraid that this dress would estrange her from his grandpa and they wouldn’t be as close as before.
"Silly girl. Even if grandpa doesn’t like you, you still have me." Christopher was a little helpless. He wiped her tears and comforted her.
"Then will you betray your family for me?" Janice sniffled.
"Well..." Christopher thought for a moment and said, "If they love me, they will naturally respect my decisions. As for those who don’t respect my choices, why should I care about their feelings?"
Upon hearing his words, Janice was moved and threw herself into his embrace.
She had always been afraid of being supported by no one. The support of the Old Mr.
Allson had given her the strength.
However, at this moment, Christopher’s words reassured her.
She thought that she would no longer be afraid.
"Thank you, honey." Janice cried tears of joy.
Christopher patted her on the back. Later he seemed to have thought of something and asked, "By the way, after you took the tonics, did your body feel any different?"
...
"Different?" Janice was baffled. "What’s different about it?"
"Do you feel that there’s a hot air gushing out, as if you are on fire?"
Christopher explained, and his eyes were full of expectations.
"Hot? Fire?" Janice didn’t quite understand and shook her head. "Nope."
Christopher frowned and thought to himself, "No, that’s not right. Last time, after I drank the tonic, my whole body seemed to be on fire, and even my nose was bleeding. She should have had a similar reaction."
Seeing his pensive expression, Janice couldn’t help asking, "What’s wrong?"
He shook his head. "Nothing."
"Perhaps the drug had not taken effect yet," Christopher thought.
Then he reminded her, "It’s getting late. We should get some rest."
Janice nodded. "You go up first. I’ll clean up this place."
"No. Leave it for tomorrow."
As he spoke, he pulled her arm and walked upstairs.
Janice was a bit speechless, but she still agreed without saying anything. She followed him to the bedroom.
As soon as she entered the bedroom, she was pushed into the bathroom by him.
"Go take a shower."
Then he turned around and closed the door.
Janice felt that he was weird. But she didn’t think too much about it. In any case, she needed to take a bath.
However, she did not know that Christopher, who was standing outside the door, had already begun to indulge in his lustful desires.
What he was thinking about was how Janice would become later.
<Is she as charming as a fox?
Or will she come straight over like a hungry wolf?
Just thinking about that scene makes my blood boil.>
He couldn’t help but feel hot all over.
Then he even began to feel a little impatient.
When Janice came out of the bathroom after taking a shower, the lights in the bedroom had been turned off, leaving only the small bedside lamp on.
The entire room was very dim, giving off an intimate feeling.
Under the dim light, Christopher sat there and stared at her. Somehow, he looked a little scary.
Janice’s eyes carelessly collided with his. She involuntarily felt a wave of shock. "What are you doing?"
Christopher didn’t say anything. He just gave her a wicked smile and patted the place next to him. "Come here."
Janice walked over in puzzlement, but she felt uncomfortable under his stare.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
She frowned.
Christopher remained silent. He stared at her as if he was waiting for something.
Feeling that he was weird, Janice asked, "Why did you adjust the light to this color? It’s too dark, and I can’t even see it clearly."
As she spoke, she was about to press the switch, but Christopher stopped her.
"That’s fine," said Christopher.
Upon hearing his words, Janice frowned, but she didn’t insist. She stood up and was about to leave.
Seeing this, Christopher grabbed her arm.
"Where are you going?"
Janice replied, "My phone is still in the bathroom. I’ll go get it."
Only then did he slowly let go of her.
However, when she took the phone and came out of the bathroom, she started playing the phone. There seemed to be no sign that she was going to take action.
This made Christopher feel that something was wrong.
He stared at her for a while and couldn’t help asking, "You don’t want to do anything?"
Janice was scrolling through the news. She had always had the bad habit of reading social news before going to bed. Hearing his question, she looked at him cluelessly. "What should I do?"
...
Her innocent expression made Christopher confused. Then he asked, "Don’t you feel very hot now?"
"Hot? What hot? I just took a shower and am feeling good now." Janice was confused.
Christopher stared at her expression. It didn’t seem that she was pretending. He confusedly muttered in his heart, "No way. It’s been so long, but she still hasn’t felt anything wrong."
"Well, you are not hot. Are you excited?" Christopher continued.
Janice became even more confused. She shook her head.
"Then... do you feel a little uncomfortable?" he asked again.
Janice stared at him. <What’s wrong with him tonight? Why does he keep asking me about my feelings?>
She asked directly, "What are you trying to say?"
Faced with her question, Christopher didn’t know how to answer.
He couldn’t say that he hoped her to seduce him.
He coughed and said, "I didn’t say anything. It’s getting late. Go to sleep." As he spoke, he lay down on the bed very unwillingly.
<Could it be that the tonics she took earlier are different from mine?>
Janice didn’t notice his strange behavior. She turned off the night lamp and lay down as well.
After a while, the man under the blanket began to move.
"Why do you keep pushing me?"
"To keep warm."
"It’s summer, okay?"
"I feel cold in summer..."
The next morning, Janice got up with her hands on her waist. She was worn out.
<This guy, no wonder he was weird all night. It turned out that he was thinking this matter.>
Today was a working day. Janice washed up and went to the TV station after breakfast.
After a period of hard work, the final recording of the first season of The Tide of Love was finally completed.
She could finally return to the news department.
She bade farewell to her colleagues in the program group. As soon as she brought her things back to the news department, Lucy rushed over and gave her a big hug.
"Welcome back, my old partner."
"Thank you, Lucy."
They hugged each other happily, and then Chief Gray came out.
"Janice, welcome back."
"Good morning, Chief Gray."
After greeting with Chief Gray, Janice exchanged a few words with her colleagues, and then returned to her seat.
She glanced at Lucy who sat opposite her and couldn’t help sighing with emotion, "After all I’ve been through, I still come back."
Lucy asked, "What? Do you regret?"
Janice shook her head. "I will never regret it."
Lucy smiled and said, "We can go to the commercial exhibition in the morning together. Today the closing ceremony will be held."
Janice was stunned. <Commercial exhibition? The one held in Benjamin’s name?>
Lucy could tell her worries and said, "Don’t worry, Director Taylor might not be there. I haven’t seen him in the past few days."
Janice nodded silently.
However, at the exhibition, she did not see Benjamin, but saw James and Christopher.
"Janice, your husband is over there."
Janice thought to herself that she had already seen him.
"Do you want to come and interview him? Look, there are so many reporters around him," Lucy teased.
Janice knitted her brows. "What’s there to interview him about?"
