Xie Wanying added another thick piece of clothing over her cousin’s leg.

"It’s so cold. Feels like it’s winter back home." Shang Siling stomped her feet inside the ambulance and asked Xie Wanying, "Yingying, how have you been getting through the winters here over the past few years?"

She didn’t know until she came, but Shang Siling was experiencing firsthand the struggles of students traveling all the way from The South to study in the North.

"Running." Xie Wanying told her cousin-in-law that exercise beats any clothing. These are just words, though. Not wanting her family to worry, she added, "I have enough clothing to wear and cover myself, there’s no way I’d freeze."

Looking at her wearing slightly less than herself yet not feeling cold, Shang Siling grinned, "You’re becoming like a Northerner, Yingying."

Living in one place for a long time, you naturally adapt to it, as one must for survival. Yet, a spot for your homeland remains in your heart.

"You should probably work here in the future." Shang Siling guessed her eventual destination, saying.

"That’s not certain." Xie Wanying didn’t dare speak definitively. Whether a hospital in the Capital would take her after graduation would only be known with time. Like her senior sister, the outcome would only come near graduation.

Shang Siling understood this somewhat as a university teacher, advising her, "Keep in touch with your counselors. They know most about recruitment information from various institutions. How is your counselor? Easy to get along with? Can you talk with them? Or when your cousin gets better, we can speak on your behalf with your counselor and inquire about the situation since we’re here."

Lying in bed listening to the two of them talk, Xiao Shugang nodded in agreement with his wife’s thoughts. Whether or not Yingying saved his life, as cousins they should offer what help they can. Incidentally, they were educators too and might find it easier to communicate with their side.

Xie Wanying thanked her cousin and his wife profusely, saying, "Our counselor is really nice and often helps me apply for various scholarships and grants."

"That’s part of the counselor’s job." Shang Siling continued advising her, "You should regularly talk to your counselor and share your thoughts. This way, they can understand your requirements for a job and help you find something suitable."

Her cousin-in-law’s guidance was beneficial. The problem is, she wasn’t good at opening up to anyone. Apart from being seen as a one-track mind, she was almost labeled as Silent Gourd like the class leader. She didn’t like sharing her concerns with others. Shang Siling patted her shoulder reassuringly, promising to help her with Xiao Shugang to resolve the issue.

Xie Wanying also thought about how her counselor would evaluate her abilities. Just like her cousin-in-law said, Teacher Ren had lots of information about recruitment units and would likely know better than her where she could work in the future.

"Don’t worry." Shang Siling noticed her concerns in this regard, saying, "You still have time until graduation, and we can work hard in the areas where effort is needed."

Her cousin-in-law wasn’t quite aware of the competitiveness in the medical profession. Even top students in medical school find it extremely challenging to stay in their favored hospitals and departments. Top-notch tertiary hospitals already have enough staff in their establishments.
