F-Rank Puppeteer!! But I'll be Queen, and I'm not a narcissist!!!!!
Chapter 297: The Wrong Path Chosen
"[Pan-Paran Chan!!! Your Beloved Idol Evelyn-chan’s Soft Idol Version Has Risen Again]" A strange square screen appears in front of me, showing a girl who looks extremely similar to me. I’m in some weird place that’s completely white and seems infinite.
’Where am I?’
"[Evelyn, you’re sleeping. The second fruit has already been ingested, so your dear Original Evelyn has come to fulfill her role!! Of course, I don’t expect you to understand what I mean by second fruit!]" The girl who is identical to me, except she has no horns, wings, or tail, speaks in an excited tone.
She’s inside this strange glowing square that I don’t really understand, yet I feel like I should know it. She called herself Original Evelyn. What is that supposed to mean?
"What are you?" She confirmed this is a dream, but what is that supposed to mean?
"[Your Favorite Idol came because the Third Condition was met for me to come talk to you!! By the way, this isn’t me. Shouldn’t you remember? But I don’t exist, okay?]" She says something extremely confusing.
"What do you mean you don’t exist? I’m seeing you right now."
"[It’s magic! Magic, get it? Original Evelyn is you now. I’m just remnants of a ’programming’ set up beforehand to appear under certain conditions to verify and shape the correct path.]" My head hurts a little.
"Okay, just forget it-"
"[You shouldn’t have lost your memories, but that doesn’t matter!! Your sweet Idol-chan is here to tell you that someone messed with what they shouldn’t have.]" She strikes a pose inside this weird screen, blowing me a little kiss.
"Could you speak normally?"
"[No~... I was programmed to act like this at this stage, but you’d understand if you had memories. Anyway, your favorite Idol has some good warnings for you...]" Her gaze turns serious, and she gains a wicked smile.
"[Your dear Nerina-sensei is the one to blame for your lack of memories, and I’m sure you already suspected that. So I’m here to tell you, when the time comes, killing Nerina is easy. You already know how to do it, don’t you? You were running tests, and I’m certain you discovered a weak point in a nymph’s body.]"
"W-What? I wouldn’t... kill her... don’t make up lies. This is just a dream." I shake this strange screen, but it lets out a weird static and shocks my hands, making me pull away.
"[Evelyn is Evelyn, so act like Evelyn and not like some slut. You weren’t made to hide away cowardly on an island, were you? You weren’t born for that. It’s disgusting watching you suck Nerina’s dick as if you loved her. How gross. Ugh, it makes me want to vomit, even if it was just shaped water.]"
"[You’re too needy. Just because you’re a little sad and depressed, you accept these stupid humiliations.]"
"Don’t talk like you know some absurd thing about me, as if I have to obey some predetermined fate. I choose what I want to do." I get frustrated, standing up.
"[You say that, but are you becoming like your dear, wise Original Evelyn-chan? That cute little doll you created? That thing is macabre, hehehehe. That disturbing chimera is an abomination of nature-]" I punch the screen, shattering it.
Strangely, this irritates me deeply, and a cold hatred for this girl on the screen washes over me. Even if she is me, I don’t know why, but I feel like she isn’t me.
"Don’t talk about what I do as if you understand my reasons. She’s not an abomination. It’s my power, and I do whatever I want with my powers."
"[Hehehe, how cute, protecting your little dolls. But that doesn’t change the fact that that little thing isn’t just a standard model puppet. Chimerism is something nature doesn’t like, you know?]"
"...I want to wake up."
"[Running away from your favorite Idol-chan is ugly, very ugly!! Stop running from reality... well, it doesn’t matter anymore. You’ve already chosen to run from reality. A pathetic choice, though I understand it. However, running from reality has a steep price.]"
"[But don’t worry! The next ’image’ won’t be your dear Idol-chan here. It’ll probably be a more serious Evelyn.]"
"[Just keep an eye out. You shouldn’t be sleeping with Nerina or Arial anymore. You’re straying too far from your destiny, so I’m going to give a little help!! Do you know what a Panic Button is?]" I look at the cracked screen, seeing "Evelyn" inside with a giant red button.
"What is that?" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"[Panic Button! Made for me to activate if you deviate too much from expectations!! Evelyn, the powerful Demon Queen, should be far away from this island, at war, or with Esther.]"
’Esther... that name... why that name...’
"Wait, n-no..." When she says that name while caressing this red button, something deep inside me is disturbed, as if something terrible is about to happen.
"[Nahhh, I’m gonna press it! Look at the little buttonnnn!! Your favorite Evelyn-chan of all is going to press it.]"
"W-WAIT!!" She ignores me and presses the button. Nothing happens. I don’t know what I expected, but I know something has changed.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!!" I scream at her. My heart is racing like crazy, and my body is trembling severely, as if it knows exactly what happened.
"[Oh, are you scared? I didn’t do anything too bad. I’m helping you get back on your correct path, before you lose yourself in pleasure like a whore. Anyway, since you’re clearly starting to like staying on this island, I’m giving you reasons to think straight.]"
"[Though it is funny to see that you managed to charm Nerina. What a foolish woman. She was seduced by you. How stupid. She ingested your magic and emotions like a drug and forgot that a high dose is addictive.]"
"..." I feel dizzy, falling to the floor while looking at the cracked screen.
"[I hope you wake up happy. And don’t forget what I said. Also, keep an eye on Arial. She’s the one who fucked up by messing with your little doll.]" Everything goes dark before I can say anything else.

"Esther-sama, is something wrong?" A maid asks while I drink a cup of Evelyn’s blood. I hear a loud sound of wind being sliced. Quickly, I leap upward, dodging a charge.
"Calyo?" I land on the horn of this dragon that just smashed through the office wall. It’s Evelyn’s mount.
’Why did my wife’s mount come here?’ I look at Calyo’s body, half hanging out of the office. It’s covered in deep wounds. One of its wings is severely damaged, it’s missing two legs, and its torso is completely obliterated. If it weren’t a puppet, it would be dead, and clearly someone tried to kill it.
However, what catches my attention is the type of magic. It’s undoubtedly water magic, but it has spiritual traces. Not just a little, either—it’s almost 100% spiritual magic. And thinking of the ocean, I can only think of one thing that would use spiritual water attacks.
"Nymph attack... wait... EVELYN!!" I quickly leap through the window, ignoring the reason why this dragon came to me. I crash through the window of the lower floors, invading the place where Evelyn’s three puppets work.
"Esther-" Before Amanda can say anything, I grab her by the throat and slam her against the floor, completely shattering it and sinking with her to the floors below. She gasps and groans in pain.
"Tell me Evelyn’s exact location right now. And don’t try to bargain. I’m not very patient." I take a knife from my clothes and drive it into her arm, pulling it to create a terribly deep gash in her forearm.
"U-Urghhh!!" She groans in pain, caught off guard.
"I-I don’t-"
"TELL ME NOW!" I drive the knife deeper, hitting the bone, and then I twist it, breaking the bone violently.
"I-Island..." She sees my gaze and gives up on lying or denying.
"Coordinates." I pull the knife out and press it against her other arm. With a scared sigh, she starts talking.
"17°42’18.73"S, 143°55’09.41"W" As soon as she says it, I leap out the window, using magic to create wings.
’I need to help Evelyn.’ I rapidly accelerate the beating of my wings, but even at the fastest pace I can manage, it will take about five days to arrive if I fly without rest, day and night.

...
"...Evelyn, thank goodness-" As I wake up, Nerina starts talking to me with a smile, but I place a finger on her lips, silencing her.
"Nerina-sensei, I... want space."
"H-Huh?"
"Space. Get away from me... I want space!!" I speak aggressively to her. Bad feelings are bubbling in my mind. Her promise to protect me means nothing now, because an irrational fear covers my thoughts.
Something is happening. That wasn’t just a dream. I feel it. That Evelyn on the screen said things that were far too concrete. I run quickly to the kitchen, looking outside. It must have been about seven hours since I went to sleep.
"..." On the kitchen table, I see Arial cutting up some food with a knife, but my eyes immediately go to my little doll sitting on the table, her belly extremely swollen.
"What the hell did you do to her!!" I shout, irritated. Even if I don’t want to overthink it, the words of that "Evelyn" on the screen triggered something in my mind that generated immediate paranoia!! And it’s Arial’s fault. That Evelyn on the screen implied she appeared because Arial did something she shouldn’t have.
"Her? Oh, she just ate too much-" Not wanting to listen to her, I go to the little doll, granting her the ability to speak to me.
"Tell me what happened."
"..." The little doll looks at me, confused. Then she looks at her swollen belly and looks back at me.
"I was under the giant fabric ruins of softness, amidst the dark and the webs," she says, referring to the sofa, since that’s where she was before, having hidden underneath it.
"When suddenly, what resembled a five-legged arachnid made of water appeared and grabbed me!!" She’s probably referring to Arial’s hand, which already makes me glare at Arial.
"And then a giant pillar was thrust into me, deforming my poor, fragile intimate flesh... it hurt a lot, and made me feel strange. And after many hours, a little doll was created inside me with magic." My little doll’s explanation is somewhat abstract and strange, but it’s understandable.
"YOU GOT HER PREGNANT!" I point accusingly at Arial, who looks tense, not having expected to be discovered this way.
"Look... I didn’t imagine she would actually get pregnant so fast, I-"
"Get out!! Nerina too!! Both of you!! Go away!!! I want her off this island!! NOW!!" I pick up the little doll carefully and start heading angrily to my room, but with much more paranoia.
"Evelyn, you’re very stressed. I don’t know what happened, but-"
"..." Nerina falls silent when I look at her. My gaze is a mix of madness and fear.
"Arial messed up, but I need you to leave..." Nerina starts leading Arial outside, not wanting to argue with me, while I slam the bedroom door, sealing it so no one can enter.
"Master, are you okay?" The little doll notices my trembling and touches my finger, but all that comes to me is a bizarre, primal fear.
’Esther... that name... it’s so frightening... why? Why does that name scare me so much...’ Just thinking about that name makes me want to cry. Something is very wrong. So I do what I know best: I isolate myself in the room to calm my mind, completely ignoring Nerina, Arial, or anything else.
