Chapter 1297: A fight of goodwill (9)
Before Baekho arrived at the dormitory, at the Hwangmyeongho mansion.
Hwangho, who looked like Hwang Jiho, was sitting in front of Baekho, who was delivering Jo Yi-shin's instructions.
Recently, whenever Baekho spoke loudly, Hwangho's mind and body were unsettled. So, to ease his fatigue, he specially prepared a soft cushion to lean on and drank a warm cup of night tea made from chestnuts and ate chestnut-filled rice cakes.
Even then, his mood didn’t improve.
There’s a saying that night tea is bad for those with a lot of internal heat, and seeing Baekho in his current state, Hwangho felt his throat tightening the more tea he drank.
"I don’t like how Baekho brags so proudly, and more than that, it pains me that Jo Yi-shin hasn’t come to the mansion."
If it had been this big of a move, Jo Yi-shin would have come to the mansion to speak and consult. But instead, he went straight to the dormitory.
It was because Baekho was already reading his mind and knew that Jo Yi-shin ➤ NоvеⅠight ➤ (Read more on our source) would send his message through him or use a device if he had something to say.
From an efficiency standpoint, Jo Yi-shin’s decision was right, but from Hwangho's point of view, it didn't sit well with him.
Now, instead of Jo Yi-shin explaining the strategy with a confident face, it was Baekho, who had been fed dried persimmons, sitting there smiling.
"I understand Jo Yi-shin's intention. Baekho, you have nothing to do, but I’ll be busy."
"Jo Yi-shin is considering your busyness and will not be coming to the mansion."
Hwangho sarcastically threw out the words, but it didn’t get him anywhere.
If Akho had been here, he would have heartily cursed, but unfortunately, he had a mission to complete and was planning to return to Eungnyeo’s side once it was done.
Hwangho, instead of facing Baekho, was supporting Jo Yi-shin’s moves through his doppelganger.
"I have a suggestion."
"Don’t imitate Jo Yi-shin."
Hwangho reflexively responded, irritated.
At this point, it seemed like Baekho was deliberately annoying Hwangho, and it turned out that was indeed the case.
Baekho, seeing Hwangho’s reaction, burst into laughter.
"I didn’t really imitate him, but since I’m always reading thoughts, I guess I just seem similar."
"Not at all similar."
"But didn’t you immediately think of Jo Yi-shin when you heard my words?"
Looking at his friend, who was laughing more frequently lately, Hwangho was stunned.
When Hwangho went silent, Baekho began speaking again, heedlessly.
"I’m going to move into the dormitory."
"What?"
"I’ll be using the same dormitory room as Jo Yi-shin."
Hwangho, suspecting he misheard, asked again, and Baekho made an even stranger comment.
"I heard there are no vacant rooms on the male dormitory floors for second-year students. So, I’ll share the room with Jo Yi-shin."
"Have you confirmed Jo Yi-shin’s intention?"
"When we went through the dormitory registration process, Jo Yi-shin submitted a document to Jiwihye."
As Baekho said, Jo Yi-shin had completed some paperwork during the registration process when the grade changed.
There was a form agreeing to follow dormitory rules, and a survey in case of no vacant rooms.
For Jo Yi-shin, since they were classmates, he had agreed to share a room.
Jo Yi-shin agreed while thinking about Baekho, Mok Wooram, and Sawol Saeum, without knowing he would make such a mistake by not realizing that they were in the same class.
Hwangho sighed, worried about Jo Yi-shin.
"I’ll need to advise Jo Yi-shin to be more careful with signing papers."
"I’ll take care of it, so don’t worry."
"Baekho, if you do it, you’ll just make Jo Yi-shin angry... no, I get it. That was your intention from the start."
Hwangho decided that tomorrow, he’d prepare some of Jo Yi-shin’s favorite snacks.
After drinking the lukewarm tea in one go, Baekho silently set the cup down and stood up.
If he were to act disrespectfully, Hwangho would lecture him, but unfortunately, Baekho’s actions adhered to basic manners and had a certain rhythm.
Baekho spoke.
"Jo Yi-shin finished his meal at the Eternal Lake team building and left. I’ll head to the dormitory first."
"I shouldn’t get indigestion looking at you... but did you get permission from Eunho?"
"Why would I need my younger brother’s permission to move into the dormitory?"
"You didn’t tell Eunho?"
Seeing Baekho’s confident stance made Hwangho feel a chill down his spine.
However, since Baekho would bear the consequences, Hwangho decided to ignore it.
Secretly, Hwangho was also curious about the effect of Baekho’s suggestion.
Now that Baekho had gone to the dormitory, if there was something to be said, Jo Yi-shin would have to come to deliver the message himself.
Also, even if they weren’t alone in the same room, Baekho might come to the mansion for that reason.
As he thought about this, Hwangho’s mood improved while he chose the snacks for tomorrow.
The mood was terrible.
Students who are part of the representative team need to gather early, so I headed to the dormitory cafeteria.
Baekho, who had been selected as a representative, didn’t need to go to the military academy and had no reason to gather today, but he followed me anyway.
As a result, our paths overlapped, and I ran into Eunho while having breakfast together.
Eunho, instead of being surprised by seeing Baekho, smiled and greeted me.
‘Did he know in advance?’
Could it be that the Hojeok had planned for Baekho to go?
Thinking about the nightmare, it wouldn’t be surprising if that was the case.
But after listening to the conversation, it seemed like Eunho had just responded calmly to an unexpected situation, not that he knew in advance.
"Why is Baekho hyung here?"
"He became a dormitory member yesterday."
"You’re not saying that Jo Yi-shin is sharing a room with him, right?"
"Thanks to what you just said, I don’t need to mention that."
Eunho’s voice was gentle and kind, but it carried such authority that no one could interrupt.
Because of this, the first-year juniors who were about to greet us hesitated and lowered their shoulders before sitting down at the cafeteria.
I felt bad for the juniors who wanted to get closer to Eunho, but today wasn’t the day.
"Even though you can’t participate in the competition, you woke up early."
"I’ll sort out my luggage while I can’t compete."
"Did you come here without any preparation?"
That’s what I meant.
I couldn’t understand what made him suddenly come barging in and decide to share a room.
Maybe he didn’t have any real plan in mind.
Later, Eunho scolded Baekho sharply, but Baekho’s smile never faded.
My mood had been low all morning, but after meeting my classmates before heading to the military academy, I felt a bit better.
The class was planning to cheer in groups today, so most of them were going to stick together.
"Jo Yi-shin, I personally selected today’s snacks. I picked what I thought you’d like, so feel free to enjoy."
"If someone heard that, they’d think Jiho is the class president alone."
That’s what I said.
I agreed with Sawol Saeum’s words, but I was surprised by how tasty the sticky rice cakes with orange and sweet potatoes were.
‘The logo for the Moon Rabbit rice cakes is on them. Is this a new product? It wasn’t on the online order form.’
Maybe the new project announcement that Oktoyeon had been talking about for so long is coming soon.
As I was talking with the kids, Gwyn Lena, who had been checking her device, spoke up.
"Hey, guys. I think I need to have lunch separately today."
"Rena, do you have a friend at the military academy? I heard the string and military bands will exchange next week..."
At Mok Wooram’s question, Gwyn Lena answered brightly.
"I think Yeoreum unnie has work nearby. She asked me to have lunch together after I told her my schedule."
